Heart attacks/disease in younger age groups rising?

I was just reading about this, which seems to have gained more awareness since the pandemic. A 30% increase in heart issues in people aged 25-44.

According to the BHF, this is likely connected to poor diet, GP access and lack of intervention from government (+austerity), since there has been a sharp rise as of 2012.

What do you think might be contributing? I had no idea about this previously so am a bit shocked. One link suggested more smoking/vaping, but surely there are less young people doing that today than 40 yrs ago?

You often hear about how health/fitness focussed younger generations are, how they are boozing less than my own gen X did (!!!), yet something appears to be wrong.

Any thoughts?

Absolutely. Not talked about anywhere near enough.

I'm a a good bit younger than the coke user's.
But I'm in line with the amphetamine users from days gone by and unfortunately many of my cohorts of the past have passed on early.

What age profile would you put coke users at then? When I said above I thought it was more 'mainstream', this is from my DC's work colleagues in their 20s/30s some of whom include it as the norm on an evening out. I wouldn't see this as normal amongst my own age group (50s/60s), even when we were younger.

It's so sad isn't it and such a waste of life. I remember watching a programme about young cocaine users and one had already had a heart attack in his early twenties. He was still taking cocaine and hardly seemed bothered about the damage he'd caused. At that age (non-drug user), I would have been terrified to find out I had heart disease from any cause.

My exDH worked in the music industry and quite a few of his teenaged peers (now 60+) were picked off rather early due to using speed. Perhaps it has a new street name now? A few others developed heart issues from same.

I was part of the Northern soul scene and using amphetamine (speed) to stay up for three days at a time plus dancing at niters was common place.many of us of that era's have a multitude of health issues..the saying was we're cashing cheques our bodies couldn't cash..it's true for a lot of us now.

I'd say 20s ,30s when I was that age coke was harder to come by but other stimulant drugs were on hand amphetamine for example,Es when they first hit UK they were £30 pound a go.
So you took what suited your affordability.

It's the covid vaccine, there's a huge cover up. Look at the annual reports for the pharmacy companies to see how much they are spending on legal fees trying to silence the press.

do you have links to any of these annual reports?

because to be individually itemised in a pharmaceutical companies annual accounts…. Well, it’s going to be fucking massive.

Brighteyedtriangle · 24/02/2025 20:49

Cocaine.

Wonder what the gender data is on this. So many 30/40s men have issues with this. It is rife

pentangles · 24/02/2025 20:55

I don't know anyone who does cocaine and used to work in a 'vibrant' industry.
Then again, I am in Cumbria now Grin

I know a lot of people claiming this but never able to come up with evidence. Do you have some?
Dr John Campbell did a YT video on this last week in which he claimed death rates were directly linked to "the pharmaceutical intervention" (he seems to imply that if he says the word vaccine something dreadful will happen) despite the increase in death rates began in 2019/2020 which IIRC is before it was available

I mean all she needs to do is link to the page in any pharmaceutical companies annual accounts that identify huge spend and provision for legal fees related to defence of cases against the vaccine. You would’ve thought it would be easy

in fact if she tells us which company I’ll take one for the team and trawl through hundreds of pages of their published accounts myself to check

That's exactly what I thought. I was confused as your previous post seemed to say you were younger than people using coke now, rather than older.
