Lovely treats that feel extravagant don't cost a fortune

Fortnum and Mason has a wonderful deli downstairs. I wouldn't do my weekly shopping there, but you can pick up some lovely goodies which are no more expensive than Pret and much better quality.

Going to my local cinema on a Monday is only about £6.

Any other ideas for small boosts that don't break the bank?

For showering, my favourite is Limonum Zagara. Sicilia and Portofino are also lovely.
For hand washing, Olive Oil and Tangerine.
I started to buy Nesti Dante during Covid after seeing recommendations. It's the only soap I use. The bars are huge and last ages and they don't lose their scent.

Thank you! I'm thinking a nice bath 😊

Tea but in a teapot. A hot bath after a windy/ wet walk. Homemade biscuits or brownies. A really cheesy cheese toastie. An early night in fresh bedding. A new book/ audio book from the library. Watching something on tv that only you like. Going to the cinema on your own (it’s £5 here) and taking your own snacks and not constantly sharing. Having a mooch round the candles/ bath stuff/ craft bits in the tx maxx clearance section and buying a couple of treats for a few quid.

All of the Nesti Dante soaps are amazing. If you want a UK based company these Kew garden ones are incredible. I am currently using the geranium and basil one and the smell is lovely.

Rituals shower gel
Decent face cream - TK Maxx is great for knock down prices on amazing brands.
Real coffee with beans ground fresh and out in a lovely mug
A really nice balsamic and olive oil eked out carefully
Using "the best" china and glass every day
A good quality mattress and bedding - expensive but worth it on cost per use

Dried mealworms. They are quite pricey but if I buy a bag I can sprinkle them out in small quantities and the birds can, I swear, hear me opening them. I put them out now and again and am absolutely mugged by blue tits, coal tits, long tailed tits... I make a cup of tea and sit back and watch them feeding - it's one of the best feelings.

Those really pretty mixed bouquets of flowers you can get for about a fiver. Sainsbury’s has lovely ones. A cult beauty box or similar. Luxury make up and skin care for less. Delicious lentil ready meal from M and S . Velvet cushions and throws.

I spend £50 a month on a membership at a hotel health club. I go for a swim most days, but my favourite time is in the evening. The lights are a bit lower; the pool is warmish, and there’s a hot tub outside, so I feel like I’m on holiday somewhere in the Nordics 😁.

Saturday afternooon home spa with bits n bobs from the range including clean PJs after and a nice foot mask. Sitting in said PJs with a mug of good tea - I like the Russian caravan tea bags from fortnums…… and a lovely biscuit or three.

I also second having a day off work with nothing planned, having a walk and finishing at a coffee shop with a large brew and fresh slice of delicious cake and reading the paper. Costs about £8 for the coffee and cake but it’s such a lovely welcoming place and the cakes are lush (it’s a local independent place). Having a day off with nothing planned is the most indulgent thing ever as I usually still work on my annual leave……
