Things that irritate you irrationally

People who use their phones in the cinema

When links to websites don't work

When companies only have email addresses and then no one responds to your email

When videos on tiktok or Instagram are dragged out over 5 videos when one would suffice

How service station drinks are 3 times the price!

People apparently don't know how a phone works - except for certain circumstances where there might be a technical issue with the speaker/microphone, people who talk into the bottom of the phone whilst holding it upside down instead of to their ear, constantly having it on loudspeaker etc etc.

No, the rest of the world does NOT want to be party to your personal conversation!

Reverse parking actually gives you better maneouvrability and makes it easier to do a "perfect" park in one go whereas driving in usually means the car's back end isn't straight so you have to go forward/back a couple of times to straighten it, unless the space/drive is a lot longer than a car length.

When parking parallel to the kerb on a road, by driving in, you're almost certain to either mount the pavement with your front wheel or scrape it on the kerb, whereas with a reverse park, you wouldn't, thus reducing wear & tear and damage to your wheels, allows, suspension parts, steering rods, etc.

Reversing into a drive or parking space also means you don't have to reverse out which is usually more dangerous due to lack of visibility of cars/people behind you. If you reverse into a space, you have better view of people in or around the space or drive before you reverse.

Your points are entirely valid, I did say it was irrational!

Opening the wrong end of a packet of tablets and getting the stupid leaflet in the way.

I will die on this hill.

Sends me raging.

I tape this side now and mark it X so I don't make this mistake again. I take tablets every day and this would infuriate me! Now, problem solved!

Boredoutofmyhead · 21/02/2025 16:00

I'm sitting in a cafe,loads of seats.
And a woman comes in and sits at a dirty table.
Didn't move anything or ask anyone to clean.

She's sitting there with her partner with the stiff still on the table, plus their own coffee.
Just why.

Yes, yes, yes. WTAF? Is wrong with these people? It’s a performance I suppose!

People do it to keep the radiation from the phone away from their brain I believe.

HeartandSeoul · 21/02/2025 18:12

Ooh, I thought of another minor irritation.

Often, when I am asked to enter my address/email online, I start typing and it will immediately turn red/ a warning symbol comes up, saying ‘incorrect email address/address’ etc. This only turns green/disappears once I have completed entering said information.

To these businesses, my message to you is: IT’S NOT INCORRECT, YOU’RE JUST JUDGING ME BEFORE I’VE HAD A CHANCE TO FINISH THE TASK! YOU HAVE SET ME UP TO FAIL!!

Thanks, I feel better for that PMT rant 😁.

StrikeAlways · 21/02/2025 22:44

Another one for me (I realise it’s irrational). When someone asks me (customer services etc) “what was the name”? I did one say “it was . . . . . and it still is”. She didn’t understand. I have managed to bite my tongue since and just give my name. 🙄😡

Many years ago that was a thing, but now I believe they do it because they like being on speaker phone and either love the performance in public, or don’t care about disturbing other people.

I use the phone like that because I'm deaf.
But I only ansif it's an emergency.
I normally text saying on the bus/ Luas and I'll talk when at home.

As I say, if there is a genuine reason why someone needs to use their phone in an unusual way such as due to hearing issues or the phone being broken or the like, then that's fine and I understand that, but most of the time that's not the case and that does just baffle me.

Oh absolutely. I use my phone on speaker too, but not in restaurants, shopping centres etc. It’s the people who do it anywhere and everywhere in public for full conversations that I have an issue with.

Upsidedownimturningit · 22/02/2025 07:07

I nearly always use my phone on speaker phone but I don't do it in public.

Deedeesharpwhatkindoflady · 22/02/2025 07:15

I use speaker on phone but only for very short calls, book a taxi for example definitely no full blown conversation's in public.

Auburngal · 22/02/2025 07:34

Kids screaming. There is no need for it. There are 10-12 year olds down my road who ride microscooters screaming.

People who don't turn off their button pressing sound on their phones. I feel like taking off their phones off them and switching it off myself. Then give phone back to them with a smug grin.

People who play games, watch video content and listen to music on their phones without ear/headphones. I have never come across anyone playing my kind of music on them.

People who talk on their phones with them flat in front of them. You are not on The Apprentice.

People standing at bus stops for ages and when bus turns up, they are rummaging in their bags to get bus pass, phone, wallet.

People who stand right by the doors to lifts then tut because they have to step back to let those who are leaving the lift out. If you stayed back, you wouldn't tut

People who dump things across the shops. Especially if its in the wrong temperature section. Cheese in the bread, frozen chips in the yoghurts etc. If found too warm or cold for the item. it gets disposed.

Auburngal · 22/02/2025 07:36

Auto flush toilets. They flush many times whilst emptying oneself and then when you want it to flush, you wave your hand over the panel and it never flushes.

Leicester Highcross, that are your toilets.

People ( as in my Mum ) who stop in shop doorways on the way out to put things in their bag or look at the receipts....

Oh she must have shopped at my previous workplace then.

People having chats with others by the entrance doors which kept the doors open and made the store colder.

In public though? Can you not put it to your ear?

Boredoutofmyhead · 22/02/2025 14:25

When you drop something in a small space and it seems to disappear.

DottyMilkshake · 22/02/2025 14:49

That all trampoline parks seem to charge to have THEIR own socks, even though they are identical to other places(apart from colour and branding), you can only wear theirs!

Meadowfinch · 22/02/2025 14:57

People who don't know what to do at roundabouts.

They stop when there's nothing coming, dither, don't have a clue who's right of way it is, look at all the other drivers, and then pull out in front of someone.

FFS, if they've passed a driving test they should know what to do. And if they don't, they really shouldn't be driving. Aaargh !

You should see Americans in America on roundabouts. They are not common there, but they do have them. Everyone one I have spoken to there say they hate them and despite being able to at least google how they work, they just sit there for ages looking confused and worried. You can always easily identify the British tourist because we just ‘sail’ straight on while they think about it. This is whether, or not we have right of way because there really is no point waiting!

Samandytimlucypeterolivia · 22/02/2025 22:57

People in general… my social battery is fried… I’m like a hermit crab and would rather not see anyone 🤪

Auburngal · 23/02/2025 06:55

Supermarkets that put cooking instructions under the label. Think of those oven ready chicken dishes which come in a foil tray.
