How old child?

Preface this by saying my kid doesn't like writing. But a child in what school year do you think wrote this?

How old child?

Based on my very limited knowledge....Fairly standard year 3 (same handwriting but better spelling than my year 3 DD).

But if they're a reluctant writer, they could be several years older.

PennyKitchen · 17/02/2025 10:26

Year 2. Similar to my child's.

Meecrowahvey · 17/02/2025 10:31

Year 2.

Cherryblossom6754 · 17/02/2025 11:43

I'd guess Year 3

Moveoverdarlin · 17/02/2025 11:44

Year 2 or 3.

bomalan · 17/02/2025 11:45

I would say year 2 or 3

UpUpUpU · 17/02/2025 11:47

Year 2 or 3 I would say.

mynameiscalypso · 17/02/2025 11:49

I'd say Year 2 as well.

JaneFoe · 17/02/2025 11:53

Age 5 or 6.

RuthW · 17/02/2025 12:07

6?

GretchenWienersHair · 17/02/2025 12:09

My guess would be around Year 1. Handwriting is very neat for that age though.

WFHforevermore · 17/02/2025 12:11

Age 5

mummyof2boys30 · 17/02/2025 12:12

To add different end of the scale, this is much better, writing and spelling than my 12 year old son who is dsylexic

Cattery · 17/02/2025 12:13

I could write like that at age 4 but that was in the 60s when we did lots of reading and writing

Organisedwannabe · 17/02/2025 12:14

I would say average work for year 2 writing independently at home.

toomanytocount2025 · 17/02/2025 12:17

Year 2

Funnywonder · 17/02/2025 12:20

P3. Equivalent of Year 2 in England.

It's tricky though. My eldest son's writing was all over the shop until he was about 10. Big massive letters and wee tiny ones always on a downward trajectory even if the page was lined😆 Youngest son had beautiful writing from a very young age. Children can be wildly different.

tinytemper66 · 17/02/2025 12:34

Year 7...
Teacher many a child in secondary with poor handwriting

letslaughitoff · 17/02/2025 12:34

Looks like mine when i have a migraine.

stanleypops66 · 17/02/2025 12:48

Age 6

Am805463 · 17/02/2025 12:50

Year 3 but it’s neater than my yr5 child lol.

Badgerstmary · 17/02/2025 13:03

Yr 1 or 2

exitstrategyideas · 17/02/2025 13:17

Im saying Year 3 or low ability Year 4. Commas to separate clauses and openers aren’t taught in Year 2 so I’m assuming older. Their grasp of sentence structure is good so mechanics are there, but transcription is poor (handwriting, spelling) so that would be where to go next in terms of progress

SophiaSW1 · 17/02/2025 14:12

I'd guess year 3

Compatibledamage · 17/02/2025 14:21

Year 4/5
