Just curious - what time do you have your evening meal?

My women's group has started a restaurant activity. I'd like to join them, but they schedule the meal at 5p. For me, that's a bit early.

Of course I could make the exception just to participate, but I was wondering when MNers typically have their evening meal.

7ish every day, including Easter, Christmas, etc.

Rumplestiltz · 16/02/2025 21:51

8-9.

HorrorFan81 · 16/02/2025 21:52

I sometimes eat as early as 4.30. Most often will be between 5 and 6. If I'm going out for dinner that's usually around 7.30/8 but I would need a snack earlier.

YogaLite · 16/02/2025 21:57

5-6 here too as don't like eating late. In fact I like going to bed a bit hungry.

Showercap22 · 16/02/2025 22:03

Between 6-7 on school nights, sometimes 7-8 on a weekend.
Our DD(5) always eats with us.
DH works long hours so wouldn't work any earlier, and it's an easy routine. Eat, then bath, then bed.
DD has always been a night owl though. Usually asleep by 8:30.

Goldarnit · 16/02/2025 22:08

I usually eat my evening meal somewhere between 7.00pm and 8.30pm. However, on a couple of days a week I attend an evening activity that clashes with my usual mealtime. So on those occasions I eat much later, usually between 10.30pm and 11.30pm.

Ozmumofboys3 · 16/02/2025 22:16

4.30-5.30pm. The kids are starving after school and we often have sports activities to get out for in the evening so it's easier to feed us all as soon as we get home from school. They're not little kids either, teens and pre-teen. Seems to work well for us, does result in some snacking in the evening though.

SleepDeprivedButAlive · 16/02/2025 22:17

Around 5. We have a baby in a routine so we eat together early so we can wash up and get the house in order before his bed time.

EllaPaella · 16/02/2025 22:17

Usually between 5.30-6.30, I'm absolutely starving by then. Later on weekends and the week nights that DC are at football training.

KathrynWheel · 16/02/2025 22:20

Both retired. Sherry or Port at 4pm in winter. Cocktail at 4pm in summer. Tea at 7pm. Begin fasting at 8pm until 12 midday following day.

Samandytimlucypeterolivia · 16/02/2025 22:22

5 ish, kids are always hungry when they get back from school so it’s easier the feed them and then if they wanna snack later they can 😊

LindorDoubleChoc · 16/02/2025 22:27

8 to 8.30pm

tobee · 16/02/2025 22:32

Used to be around 9pm which is ideal for me. But now Dh is on medication which means he needs to stop eating at 8pm. Makes going out with other people awkward having to stipulate.

lechatnoir · 16/02/2025 22:47

I can't imagine ever going out for evening meal before about 7pm Confused when DC were little we'd do earlier but other than late Sunday lunch at 5pm, our evening meals are 7:30/8pm sometimes later.

Vettrianofan · 16/02/2025 22:47

4pm

Whatnowthenfordone · 16/02/2025 22:48

I said between 8 and 10 but am actually just eating now, which isn’t unusual. I find I don’t snack if I know I’ve still got tea to come.

MrsSkylerWhite · 16/02/2025 22:51

8-8.30

boysmuminherts · 16/02/2025 22:56

Sometime between 7 and 9pm.

Fizbosshoes · 16/02/2025 22:59

Anywhere between 7.30 and 9pm. We don't get in from work til 6.30pm, and most nights at least one person is doing sports
Booking a table if going out would normally be 7.30, if I ate at 5pm I'd be hungry again at 9pm!

TheChosenTwo · 16/02/2025 22:59

8/8:30 but depends on so many factors, not before 7 at home though.
A friend suggested going out for dinner recently and wanted to book the table at 6pm, it felt ridiculously early to me!

Strawberryorangejuice · 16/02/2025 23:00

When eating with our children it is around 5.30/6. When eating just my husband and I it's more like 8.

CorduroySituation · 16/02/2025 23:39

Usually 6-6.30. DH and I both wfh and I like a little chill time between work and starting to prep food. I'm SE so can set my own hours but try to keep to a decent routine as DH has more standard office hour meetings.

Pinkdreams · 16/02/2025 23:44

DP works late, he doesn't get home until after 9 so we usually eat around 10, I really hate it as it means by the time I've ate, washed up and cleaned the kitchen it's midnight and I haven't had a minute to myself. He doesn't tell me to make dinner and eat earlier and he will have it reheated but I personally feel mean doing that

buffyfaithspikeangel · 17/02/2025 02:11

Live alone so no real schedule
Could be 5pm if I'm hungry and working an early shift or 8pm if I'm exercising after a late shift

Growlybear83 · 17/02/2025 02:50

We normally eat between 8.30-9.
