Sorry for the massive link! I am looking for a place to rent whilst working in LDN next week and stumbled upon this interesting offer..... Booking.com has quite a lot of scams, I know, but wtf is this? 😂

If I had more money than sense I'd be tempted to book it and turn up just to see what's occurring!

HouseAshamed · 13/02/2025 18:01

That's what my place will look like when I've decluttered.

OuchyEars · 13/02/2025 18:04

It is clearly a cover for a safe house.
Yes I read too many detective and spy stories.

Ponderingwindow · 13/02/2025 18:18

Seems like an easy way to engage in money laundering.

RetroTotty · 13/02/2025 18:39

@OuchyEars I thought that too! 😆

Ooooooh.

Someone needs to write the novel. All about how a harmless bit of chat on the internet led to a bunch of middle aged mums outing an international spy ring based in Brent Cross.

LavenderFields7 · 13/02/2025 18:47

That is hilarious 🤣 thanks for sharing. I’m dying to know who set it up. Also made me very dubious about using booking.com they obviously let anyone post without proper checks!?!

wipeywipe · 13/02/2025 18:47

It's reassuring that Booking vets its accommodation offerings!

Lou205 · 13/02/2025 18:48

Rajaas nice house really isn't very nice.

MassiveOvaryaction · 13/02/2025 18:53

Blimey. If that's Rajaa's nice house I'd hate to see their horrible one!

So the booking.com version of the takeaway that never has any customers?

Scarfitwere · 13/02/2025 19:16

Money laundering scam. They put up a property no one will ever book, get friend/Associates to make bookings. Mark as paid in cash...et voila, legitimate funds obtained.

BertieBotts · 13/02/2025 19:58

samarrange · 13/02/2025 14:10

What I do is to paste in the URL and then remove several "&something=99999" chunks that look irrelevant, until it no longer works 😂. Confusingly, the first "&" has to be a "?" (or to put it another way, the parameters are separated from the address by "?" and from each other by "&").

In this case I reduced it to just ?sid=a44d4f311c1c64cfe4f2251cc73bd42b, which I presume is the property listing's identifier within the site.

You can just delete everything after and including the question mark.

Yes, but that just gets you to the front page of Booking dot com, which would not be very useful for illustrating the OP's point. 🙏

BertieBotts · 13/02/2025 20:01

No it doesn't. It takes me directly to Raaja's Nice Home.

Topsyturvy78 · 13/02/2025 20:35

Someone's put it on as a joke or their shaming their teen son or brother.🤣🤣🤣

Oh my. And of course booking won't be liable because they're just an aggregate site.

The internet really is mostly garbage isn't it. Bullshit, crime and porn.

verityveritas · 13/02/2025 22:06

That's not my a nice house, it's rooms are too tidy.

Aly2577 · 13/02/2025 22:39

Prince William is doing holiday rentals now!

Mansionscoldandgrey · 13/02/2025 22:39

Haven't we already had a thread about the hectic kitchen today?

ScottChegg · 13/02/2025 13:39

Maybe it's Joe Lycett! Like the time he put his restaurant-in-a-skip on Uber Eats. 😂

This was the first thing I thought of too 😂

BobbyBiscuits · 14/02/2025 00:46

I'd say a joke rather than a scam?! Surely the idea of a scam is to represent an appealing looking property that either doesn't exist or fails to meet expectations. With this one you'd probably be relieved if it turned out to be a tent next to the M40.

So the booking.com version of the takeaway that never has any customers?

Or the Barbers shop that never has any customers but the owner drives a brand new Range Rover....

....( like the one near me )
