Would you report someone for benefit fraud?

Hypothetical question, I’m not in this situation.

Just curious:

Report them, they deserve everything coming

or

Don’t be a grass?

Touts out 🤪

username299 · 11/02/2025 22:08

No.

Motheranddaughter · 11/02/2025 22:08

Definitely not

Hattieandcake · 11/02/2025 22:09

Yes I have reported 3 x
it’s fraud !

BatchCookBabe · 11/02/2025 22:09

Depends if I like them or not. 😂

thisfilmisboring123 · 11/02/2025 22:09

No

NanaPurple · 11/02/2025 22:10

I would have to be 100% sure of the facts before I would even consider it. Even then, probably not.

sprigatito · 11/02/2025 22:10

No

Kaminari · 11/02/2025 22:10

No.

Scutterbug · 11/02/2025 22:11

Probably not.

TwigletsAndRadishes · 11/02/2025 22:11

Yes I would. It depends on the circumstances, but if I thought someone was absolutely taking the piss then I wouldn't hesitate.

FrannyScraps · 11/02/2025 22:12

I'd really want to but probably not because I'm quite lazy and couldn't be bothered.

SecondMrsTanqueray · 11/02/2025 22:13

In my private life, no. Professionally, yes. I have cause to report relatively often.

QuestionableMouse · 11/02/2025 22:15

No.

beezlebubnicky · 11/02/2025 22:17

No because it's probably not fraud. You can't know every detail of someone's situation. Keep your beak out of people's business.

EggFriedRiceAndChips · 11/02/2025 22:17

No. I’m much more concerned about all the evil billionaires raping the world for profit than some poor people having slightly more than they’re meant to

Ladyluckinred · 11/02/2025 22:19

It’s not a legal requirement, OP. So it would be completely down to you. You say you’re not in this situation, I wonder why you’re curious about it? Context would make a difference

MarioSis · 11/02/2025 22:20

Depends. If they are vile chavs then definitely.

user1471453601 · 11/02/2025 22:21

Absolutely not. I worked for DWP way back when.

I was one of those who made decisions (based on the actual law and case law) on entitlement to benefit, in retrospect.

If you can read an appeal from someone who did a few hours work to buy their kids new shoes and failed to declare it, and still think it's immoral to "work on the side" and still go ahead and report them, you are not the kind of person I want to know.

Ameliepoulainandthephotobooth · 11/02/2025 22:23

Depends I suppose but I also think that unless it is you or someone in your household that you are very unlikely to have all of the facts.

violet173 · 11/02/2025 22:23

Absolutely not.
My mum used to say "keep your own side of the street clean"

Love this. And no, I wouldn't either.

There’s no context at all. It was actually from another thread about UC where the poster has been overpaid for 5 years due to undeclared savings.

I was surprised nobody had dobbed her in, as often people do.
