Has anyone bought anything advertised on social media that wasn’t rubbish?

I don’t mean like Nike advertising on Instagram or Facebook, but more like brands that you only ever see on there.

Powder root touch up. Absolutely gamer changer between hair appointments!

ThisZingyBlueFish · 09/02/2025 21:01

Wow Combo mascara here. Was dubious (and have tried other brands of tubing mascara since) but it's the best mascara I've ever used. I gift it to others now to get them hooked too!

Loop earplugs are amazing. We're about 20 miles from heathrow but right under the early USA flight path which used to wake me at 5am. No more!

I bought DS a Stubble&Co waterproof backpack for Christmas, and he loves it. It’s been a brilliant school bag.

Head torch for DH on farm. Like a strip light. Amazing.

Phot frames that hold all the kids art work. Game changer.

I work in a playgroup so a grape and berry slice thing.

2 swivel armchairs and footstools on Facebook, we had just moved and the biggest sofa wouldn't fit so took our 2 seater and saw these 2 chairs. The seller had moved and bought them as a temporary measure until their expensive, designer furniture arrived. £150 for the lot, the original price was nearly £700.
They also matched our furniture.

I just ordered an auk mini having been bombarded by their ads. But I did bother to look up their trust pilot reviews before ordering and they were good so fingers crossed.

Loops
crimpit

EarlierDistraction · 09/02/2025 21:22

Yes to Crimpit, also, from Must Have Ideas a Christmas bauble storage box which is brilliant.

Quitelikeit · 09/02/2025 21:24

I’m off to buy the wow mascara!!

BeyondMyWits · 09/02/2025 21:24

Another one for mould magic.
And I got a book nook kit which I just finished today. Gave me an inordinate amount of pleasure in completing it.

Chuchoter · 09/02/2025 21:37

The Crimpit. I've bought all of them! They are fab.

Wolfiefan · 09/02/2025 21:39

Honeybalm lip balm. Love it.

I've just taken a look at Mould Magic. Does it actually "remove" the mould, or is it essentially a bleach? Does the mould come back?

The mould definitely does come back! I've tried it on several different windowsills as we have condensation problems and it just bleaches out the black.

MaybeIamJealous · 09/02/2025 21:54

Thanks @Rumpoleoftheballet. I had been hoping for a miracle cure 😉

Me too! 😆

I bought a fountain pen from Ellington Pens which is fabulous, and a suede coat from Fjackets which I was deeply sceptical about. When I arrived, though, it fitted perfectly and I love it.

Mia Tui bags are great and the owners are lovely - they donated items to the charity I used to volunteer for on a number of occasions.

Evolutionarygoals · 09/02/2025 21:59

During lockdown I bought dim sum from a company called ding dong dim sum, after I saw it on Facebook. They do mixed meal boxes so it's essentially like having a takeaway. Was a bit worried that I was buying random foods from the internet, but it was great and we get some a few times a year now.

I also bought a couple of lamps in the shape of ravens holding lightbulbs, again from a random Facebook page. I'm not usually into random tat, but I love them so much!

TheMousePipes · 09/02/2025 22:03

Happy mammoth hormone stuff - I’ve lost over two stone, got my brain back and actually have enough energy to see the day through. Miraculous!

That 's good to know. I am tempted.

A grape cutter 😂. It saves SO much time with toddlers

Sassy306 · 09/02/2025 22:04

Boost N Blend hair fibre with applicator. It's amazing, really covers the patchy bits of my scalp due to thinning hair and I can now tie it back again without seeing lots of scalp.
It also acts a bit like dry shampoo as I don't have to wash my hair as often since using it

DiscoBaIIs · 09/02/2025 22:07

The carpet scraper device. Fab! We all love scraping up the fluff.
