Hi my daughter is joining the police next months age 19. They’ve asked her to buy ‘police shoes or boots’

Can any female police officers recommend any that would be suitable?

Thanks

Everyone in my Force wears the Adidas tactical boot. I previously had Magnums and they were horrendous (too stiff and heavy). They may have changed but I've worn Adidas for the best part of about 15 years and I wouldn't change. You can get them online- Milton 99 or PoliMil are good websites

I used to buy magnnms, but moved over to under armour but they don't seem to do the ones with leather anymore.

Albert's (army, not police). Amazingly comfortable, and with a bit of 'spit and polish' you can see your face in them!

When she buys them she may be able to get a discount, she may need to prove she is in emergency services my friends DS gets a discount. He had the Ahlberg ones and I think they are £180. Was close to £200, she got him his first pair as a gift if my memory serves me correct.

Altberg peacekeeps for me or swat boots

Alt bergs are amazing and if she calls them direct they do a considerable police discount. If near their shop they will fit them too.

Magnums are good as so many people have said. There are also many other makes, like Bates. There are online shops like Patrol Store, which are good for buying kit.

Trying to picture a copper wearing Sketchers 🤣

AngelsWithSilverWings · 06/02/2025 20:58

DD is a cadet and we were advised to get magnum classics or magnum
Panthers.

Depends on the force I believe. I still have my no 1s in my wardrobe from basic training but I opted for trousers (in 2006), but even back then Essex didn't issue it and they passed out in bloody fleeces!

Budget cuts, eh? As I understand it, no 1s are issued temporarily only for a specific event now, and sent back to uniform stores afterwards.... Hopefully that's not as widespread as I've been led to believe!

When my husband retired 30 years ago his force didn't routinely issue no.1s. certain roles and ranks otherwise a loan. When he joined in the 60s it was quite Victorian, granddad shirts with removable stiff collars fitted with studs.

That's very expensive for classics, even Amazon have them for around £70.

Or. Panthers for less

Haix are the most comfortable that I've worn but they're expensive. Magnums are the next best option.

TrtseHkpr · 10/02/2025 21:52

Magnum or Altberg. Altberg are pricey but very good quality, they'll both last for ages.
