Then says you can leave a message....

Phone switched off

In an area of bad coverage

If this is some bloke, don't stress

TwinklyLilacTraybake · 03/02/2025 00:15

Could it also mean that they have taken the sim out of something? I have tried calling more than once and always get this message.....

Needmorelego · 03/02/2025 00:18

The phone is switched off.
That's what it means 🤷

Water41 · 03/02/2025 00:23

The battery is probably flat.

DearOwl · 03/02/2025 00:24

Why not ask them next time you speak to them?

TwinklyLilacTraybake · 03/02/2025 00:29

I don't talk to them anymore and only have this person's "work" number....which I can never talk to them on

OP posts:
december2020 · 03/02/2025 00:30

My phone does this if I put it on do not disturb mode or sleep mode.
Could it be an Apple phone on sleep mode?

They might not use the number anymore

mnisawasteoftime · 03/02/2025 00:39

If you don't talk to them anymore and only have a work number that you can't talk to them on, then what number are you calling now? The work number? If so, then I'd say they're either at work busy and can't talk or they're not at work and not taking calls on their work phone.

If it's some other number you've got hold of, then does this person perhaps not wish to be contacted by you? They could have deliberately switched off the phone, since you've called multiple times.

Anoisagusaris · 03/02/2025 00:50

Why are you ringing them if you don’t want to talk to them?

ThatMerryReader · 03/02/2025 00:51

Aliens.

TwinklyLilacTraybake · 03/02/2025 01:01

I think it's an Apple phone she had....

OP posts:
Meadowfinch · 03/02/2025 01:06

If your relationship with this person is so bad you don't speak to them any more, then what they do with their phone , whether it is off or out of battery or no longer active, is none of your business.

Stop calling it if you have no intention of speaking to them. You sound like a stalker.

You don't talk to them anymore, so what's the problem?

GrandTheftWalrus · 03/02/2025 01:10

My phone does this constantly. To the point I have to forward all calls to dh phone. I have bad service where I am. Even got a new phone and same thing.

Moonshine5 · 03/02/2025 01:29

They might have blocked you

chattyness · 03/02/2025 01:34

My husband's phone used to sometimes show as invalid SIM on the screen and then nobody could get through & they would get a similar message when trying to call ,he used to take the back off battery out, give the sim wiggle and the replace it all and then it would clear & be ok again.

TwinklyLilacTraybake · 03/02/2025 13:52

I understand why it would always be off if they need to be contactable for work reasons Monday-Friday every week and onwards.....

OP posts:
Bjorkdidit · 03/02/2025 14:06

Maybe she doesn't use that number anymore, perhaps because it got into the wrong hands.....

If you need to speak to her, try her office switchboard, or you can have a decent guess at her email address providing you know her name and there's examples of the company email address online.

However if there's no real reason and you've had a falling out, perhaps it's a sign to leave it alone?

Sad Lugubrious GIF by Pokémon

Not sure how that would go I know her work email and the office number but I think she has moved on now....

In dh's case it means he's in the study at home. For some reason it has no signal for his phone - but does for everyone else's including dd's who has the same provider. I've actually phoned him sitting next to him and it does this.

Is there anyway to know for sure does this mean I have been blocked for definite?

Text the number. Normally they don't go through if the number is blocked. If the phone is in service they will.
