What gift would you like from a grateful weekend house guest

That can be sent via post?

Good friends are hosting DD17 for the weekend, at her request (although they have an open invitation to her). I'd like to send them a little thank you. DD is easy going and of course generally delightful but house guests do create work which I'd like to say thank you for.

Flowers? Chocolates? Anything more imaginative?

Flowers or chocolates are popular for a good reason. They feel like treats but disappear quickly.

Snowmanscarf · 31/01/2025 17:06

Flowers, chocolates Or bottle if wine are the standards.

Maybe local produce from where you are from - a mini - hamper, if you live in another area.

floppybit · 31/01/2025 17:08

Some really nice chocolate or some lovely cheese

PiastriThePastry · 31/01/2025 17:08

Flowers. Always flowers.

Squirrelblanket · 31/01/2025 17:16

Wine or cheese. I don't mind flowers but chocolate would hand around forever in our house.

Calmhappyandhealthy · 31/01/2025 17:18

I'd like a Miller and Carter (or equiv) voucher

Glitchymn1 · 31/01/2025 17:19

Cheese via post… not for me.
Candle or wine I think, depending what they like.

abracadabra1980 · 31/01/2025 17:21

White flowers or nice wine.

PotteringAlonggotkickedoutandhadtoreregister · 31/01/2025 17:22

Cheese
wine
book tokens (might just be me!)

StrandedStarfish · 31/01/2025 17:23

How about M&S afternoon tea by letterbox

Doggymummar · 31/01/2025 17:24

Just them to leave early enough on Sunday I get some breathing space.

Beesandhoney123 · 31/01/2025 17:24

Flowers. And a nice thank you card.
Actually, I like guests to turn up with flowers and then post a nice note when they have left.

KetteringQueen · 31/01/2025 17:25

Bloom and Wild letterbox flowers

username299 · 31/01/2025 17:26

Fortnum and Mason hamper.

delphinedupont · 31/01/2025 17:27

A lovely houseplant as an alternative to flowers. M&S do those by delivery also.

Sunshineofyourlove · 31/01/2025 17:27

Flowers or a cheese box. Pong does a nice one.

purplecorkheart · 31/01/2025 17:28

A nice bottle of wine if they drink. Flowers or some nice food bit. I personally would not want a candle nut would prefer something that can be used up. I don't want ornaments, mugs, or things like that

Darklane · 31/01/2025 17:32

Letter box flowers
OR
a gift voucher for a shop that you know they like that is local to them, or a local restaurant.

MargaritaPracticallyCan · 31/01/2025 17:36

I was sent a Cornish afternoon tea box for a birthday, was a lovely surprise and really nice to receive. Scones, Rodda's clotted cream, little pots of jam, biscuits, tea bags - perfect to share.

Titasaducksarse · 31/01/2025 17:38

Brownies if they're not home bakers

JC03745 · 31/01/2025 17:45

Is DD giving a gift also, or just yourself?

A voucher to a local restaurant, garden centre with a cafe etc.

SkankingWombat · 31/01/2025 17:49

Can you give a budget?

Top end for me: cheese hamper

Bottom end: nice bottle of wine or house plant (not flowers for me. They never last long and chucking them out makes me sad)

Maddy70 · 31/01/2025 17:52

Wine, flowers chocolate
