Who was your childhood celeb crush, and do you still fancy them now they’re (and you’re!) older?

I LOVED Leonard DiCaprio so much (especially in Romeo and Juliet) and now… still think he’s a great actor but, given the chance to run off into the sunset with him, I think I’d be put off by his penchant for the younger lady. Which I guess also means that I’m never going to actually be given the chance to run off into the sunset with him anyway…

Who was yours and are they still your type now you’re both older?

Craig David will be at my door any day now to take me away from it all and we shall spend eternity in blissful happiness.

I’ve waited 30 years ot can’t be long now…

Chris Packham - and he's still got it!

What the absolute sex pest thing?
As someone who hung out in Southampton in the '80s and was subject to his groping/inappropriateness.

Samandytimlucypeterolivia · 30/01/2025 22:33

I had a few… Gareth gates being one of…. Don’t fancy him now … also George clooney. Loved loved loved him in ER, still love him now… even if he is 20 years older than me 😭 Chad Michael Murray, still fancy him now… and of course zac efron… he’s been my crush at every stage of my life, and he’s the same age so makes me feel a bit better.

mitogoshigg · 30/01/2025 22:35

Jason Donovan. Saw him a few years back (he was with his wife and kids) and he looked good still, obviously a lot older but so am I!

Moier · 30/01/2025 22:40

Donny Osmond from being 13.. and yes still fancy him now. ( we are the same age).

MrsClatterbuck · 30/01/2025 22:47

Appalonia · 29/01/2025 03:17

Oh I loved Donny too!😁

Me too. Had his poster on my wall and my bedroom was done in purple his favourite colour. Still love purple. Wouldn't fancy him now but he still looks OK. Wouldn't have fancied having all those kids though.
Also had a thing about Michael Douglas for a while and Harrison Ford.
Plus Neil Diamond. Had his poster inside my wardrobe and listened to my sister's lp Hot August Night's a lot.

SlinkySprings · 30/01/2025 22:49

Martin Kemp about 20 years ago. He's aged pretty well I'd say.

Abbaa · 30/01/2025 23:30

@SlinkySprings I was always a Gary fan - and I'm hoping to meet him next week!!!!!!!! He's aged pretty well too Grin

GeneralChaos1 · 31/01/2025 08:32

Oh my goodness, I’ve seen Edward Furlong being mentioned a couple of times too. I also loved him. And no, I do not fancy him now!! I hadn’t realised that he was violent towards women - that’s disgusting!!! But ever there was ever a poster boy for not taking drugs, it’s him

Back in the very Olden Days when I was maybe 12, I adored Clint Eastwood as Rowdy Yates in Rawhide.

I still had a bit of a yen for him until not long after 9/11, when the ‘tough guy’ of so many films was too scared to get on a plane for a premiere in London. Talk about an instant turn-off!

I particularly remember it since at the same time dh and I took a flight across the pond in order to attend a memorial event for my American BiL, who’d recently died.

PandaChopChop · 31/01/2025 08:48

Keanu Reeves and Michael Owen. I still would 😆😆😆

CurlewKate · 31/01/2025 10:25

@magimedi "Robert Vaughn. Loved him in the Man fron U.N.C.L.E in the 1960's and stil thought he was attractive in Hustle in the early 2000's"

David McCallum was my Man from Uncle. Until I saw him in the corner of the BBC canteen unshaven and with dirty hair and a dirty cable knit jumper and eating shepherd's pie. Obviously just a bad day-but it took the shine off him a bit.....

MargoLivebetter · 31/01/2025 10:38

Morton Harket - probably my biggest celeb crush (clearly joining the hoardes here on MN too). Definitely not now, as I think he comes across as a self-absorbed, preachy up his own arse holier than thou type these days. Couldn't see myself having any kind of a giggle with him at all.

Tom Sellek as Magnum PI. Yum, yum, yum. As Magnum PI definitely, as his older self, I'd probably be happy to have a coffee and a natter.

Rik Mayall - I fancied him so much, although in my 20s, rather than as a teenager. He was obvously deeply unattractive in the Young Ones. He was less of a crush and more of a slow burn.

Pierce Brosnan - slightly embarrassed by this and was definitely a late 20s, early 30s crush. Although probably still would now!!! 😂

MoonWoman69 · 31/01/2025 15:01

Oh and I also had a massive crush on Chris Noth (aka Big from SATC; Mike Logan in LAO) ... And then, well, no not any more! Less said about him the better! Such a shame.

LeaveALittleNote · 31/01/2025 15:50

My first crush was Michael Jackson, and I still think he was very good looking before he got carried away with the surgery.
Then I watched The Sound Of Music and fell in love with Christopher Plummer. I’m still attracted to him (in that film).
Then the whole Shane and Angel thing took place on Home And Away and I fell in love with Dieter Brummer. I don’t find the baby face/pretty boy look attractive now Thst I’m older.

MrsSethGecko · 31/01/2025 17:44

I loved Brendan Fraser in The Mummy, and he's still lovely now.

elliejjtiny · 31/01/2025 19:23

Prince William - no
Joe from children's ward - no
Edmund from the lion the witch and the wardrobe - no
William from the magician's house - no
