To help my big dry face. I also have rosacea.

I need your absolute mother of all moisturiser recommendations. Please and thank you.

Honestly I love Nivea either the blue or the regular white one my face always feels soft. I do occasionally use an Elf serum if I'm putting make up on but generally just wash my face and slap the Nivea on.

Tissuesandfluff · 24/01/2025 11:49

I use a facewash rather than soap at the moment it's simple every day wash.

Cerave (the cream not the lotion). Or Weleda skin food.

I love my medik8 stuff. Their hydrating serum is really good as I also have dry skin and rosecea. They are expensive though but they last for ages I am not even halfway through my day cream I got in November.

Also, try a centrella serum from amazon. Mine is the skin 1004 one and has really helped.

I really like Blue Pot Nivea and use it at night. However, I'd probably do some research because of your rosacea. If you have Facebook, I'd highly recommend a group called "Caroline Hurons Skincare Freaks". It's a lovely group and so supportive and helpful and well worth a read.

HIRONS not Hurons #fatfingers

MiddleAgedDread · 24/01/2025 11:53

Aveeno

Nicecatneighbour · 24/01/2025 11:54

I bought a small tub of Bio oil gel moisturiser this week for some dry skin patches and it's very good.

PrincessPeache · 24/01/2025 11:54

Face facts ceramide gel cream, a good facial oil (palmers is great) and slug in Vaseline overnight.

DowntonNabby · 24/01/2025 11:57

I have rosacea too and you have to be really careful not to inflame it, as some ingredients can. I was advised to use a product with niacinamide in it, to reduce redness. I'm currently using Olay Regenerist with niacinamide and it does seem to be helping.

CeraVe advanced repair ointment is excellent for dry skin

Aveeno dermexa balm is good but if your face is really dry you need to exfoliate as dead skin will make it even drier, try Lactic acid ( the Ordinary 10%) underneath your moisturiser.
Soolantra is excellent for rosacea

Purplecatshopaholic · 24/01/2025 12:29

i love the Kiehls or Erborian night oils when I get really dry, both excellent. Kiehls generally slightly cheaper of the two.

Foxgloverr · 24/01/2025 12:30

Eucerin urea repair. It's the only thing that works on my DC's eczema. Better than hydrocortisone.

fingertraps · 24/01/2025 12:32

I have rosacea too and Cerave is one of the few brands that doesn’t exacerbate it.

RuralSage · 24/01/2025 12:36

Cetraben

Calmhappyandhealthy · 24/01/2025 12:37

Be careful with your rosacea

I'd be inclined to get some GP advice first

My advice if you DIDN'T have rosacea is to buy something with high levels of ceramides and hyaluronic acid in

PitchOver · 24/01/2025 12:38

I would have recommended Nivea soft (white tub) although they recently brought out a new vegan version which is awful.

Pencilsieve · 24/01/2025 12:38

I have eczema and am prescribed doublebase gel, you can buy otc at Boots. It's the only moisturiser rich enough for me. Transformed my daughter's skin. It does hurt if your skin is in a bad way but it's very very good.

This
It's the only thing I use on my "so dry my eyelids crack" face
The dry skin one (5% urea) - I'm allergic to the extra dry skin one 🙄

Omg! Isn't it DREADFUL? 😡

ExquisiteSocialSkills · 24/01/2025 12:44

Altruist Dermatologist Moisturising Fluid with 5% hyaluronic acid.

Plus at night Gruum (with an umlaut) Botanisk Prickly Pear Oil.

Both are very gentle on my sensitive skin and are reasonably priced.

ExquisiteSocialSkills · 24/01/2025 12:46

Altruist also make a good 10% urea hand cream. It’s quite heavy but it is really effective.

MasterOfOne · 24/01/2025 12:47

I have very dry skin. My experience is about layering the right products.

After cleansing, on damp skin a very light moisturiser. Then after a few mins, a heavier cream.

PitchOver · 24/01/2025 12:48

Yep I'm so pissed off about the supposed new and 'improved' vegan version of Nivea. They have destroyed a wonderful product! When I discovered they had changed it I went around all the local supermarkets, boots, Superdrug etc and bought up every single pot/tube of the old version so I now have a supply that should last about 2 years Grin

Then I'll cry because I don't know what to replace it with!
