I love liquorice and my DH and DD hate it, it’s great if I get given some as I get to eat it all myself. In fact I’ve just treated myself to some and one of the types I’ve ordered are cola liquorice bottles (much to DD’s disgust as she loves cola bottles,) that sound delicious.

Peanut butter is another one I love and they hate.

DH and DD like black pudding but I can’t stand the stuff.

Yoghurt. I love it, which is a bit odd as I eat very little dairy produce otherwise. But both my boys are allergic and DH absolutely hates it. In fact if I am feeling a bit evil I will sit next to him and lick the lid of my yoghurt and he gets quite agitated. (He can reciprocate by eating Stilton though - I find that equally revolting and he loves it!)
But at least nobody ever steals my yoghurts unlike virtually ever other food or drink I buy as a treat for myself!

This is just like my parents! My Mum hates yogurt and my Dad loves Stilton. I remember he used to have some after Sunday dinner and try and make us smell it. Happy memories.

Liver, it’s offally good.

Apologies couldn’t resist. I make liver and bacon casserole and freeze a couple of individual portions.

Luckily I live alone, but you can tell how much I loved my former partner by the fact that I would let bananas live in my kitchen and bought him a cafetière so he could have 'proper' coffee... I hate the smell and taste of both and they are fairly pervasive, so yes, it was definitely love.

In my singledom, not a single yellow boomerang of horror will cross my threshold and while I do keep coffee granules in my cupboard for guests, they are pushed right to the back where I don't have to look at them on a daily basis!

Squashies or coconut are the only things I can think of. Everything else I like at least one other in the house also likes.

strangeandfamiliar · 20/01/2025 17:19

Marmite
Nuts
Butternut squash
Cauliflower cheese

I realised why DH hates Marmite after about 20 years of marriage, when he brought me some on toast. I must have been ill in bed or something, because he won't normally even go near the jar. He'd spread about a tablespoon thickly over a piece of toast with no butter. It was just the worst thing ever. And so bizarre, when he must have seen me eat hundreds of slices over the years, dripping in butter with just a smidgen of delicious savoury goodness spread with the point of a knife.

Ponderingwindow · 20/01/2025 17:22

Pickled anything. I have multiple jars at all times
ginger
interesting cheese, especially blue
grape flavored candy

but really most foods. My child has arfid and if my husband were younger he would have gotten an arfid diagnosis. They look at the simplest of my meals like I am a monster.
