Skin tags - how to remove?

Lottapianos · 10/01/2025 14:45

I have some small skin tags on my neck just above my collarbone. They're horrible and I would love to get rid of them. Anything people can recommend over the counter? I have both glycolic and salicylic acid if either of them would work. Ta

Cryotag skin tag remover - you can buy over the counter for about £20.
It does work, I've used it recently, it takes a few days after application to drop off.

If they have stalks, tie cotton tightly around their bases. They soon fall off. If they don't, quite a few beauticians can deal with them.

I have a couple too in the same place. I hate them! Following this thread.

I did the cotton thread method.

When I lost weight they also disappeared of their own accord.

How can you be sure that they aren’t moles?

Solaire18381 · 10/01/2025 15:15

I've tried everything over the counter, didn't work. In the end there was a local beautician offering cryotherapy at a reasonable price.

BingoLarge · 10/01/2025 15:15

I snipped one off with nail scissors 😂

The skin tags i had look nothing like moles.

Very brave! Was that horribly painful and did they bleed a lot?

Skin tags look absolutely nothing like moles.

Bellaboot · 10/01/2025 15:53

I have also snipped them off with scissors. They do bleed but got rid of them easy. I soaked the nail scissors in boiling water first.

BG2015 · 10/01/2025 15:54

I had one under my eye and wrapped cotton round it during covid/ lockdown. It took a few days to fall off. It's never come back.

CoastalCalm · 10/01/2025 16:13

Cotton like others have said

BloodandGlitter · 10/01/2025 16:20

I got a little device from Amazon that puts a tiny elastic band round them, and they die and fall off on their own. It stings a little at first, but it works every time, and it was less than a tenner for about 20 bands and the device.

Yep I did this with dental floss

YourAzureScroller · 10/01/2025 16:23

Emla cream to numb the area and nail scissors that I sterilize first to snip them
I have a pair that just have a side section so it is easier to angle them

I get loads of them all over my neck, a few around but not on my breast's and one under my armpit that I cannot reach or I would have removed it by now, some don't bleed and some need to have pressure for a good 5 minutes before they stop

BloodandGlitter · 10/01/2025 16:23

this is what I use

Snicksnacksnora · 10/01/2025 16:31

I’ve had some done at a local salon, cyropen, they used the cyropen on each one and they went like a scab and dropped off after about 2 weeks. It was £40 for all of them, I had about 10. Feel a lot happier with them gone! would definitely recommend x

I used this. It stings a bit just before they drop off but it really works.

Yes! This is amazing and you can't tie cotton as tightly as this device, works really well

I did this too! Disinfected the skin and scissors with surgical spirit and snipped them off. Job done

Discobooloo · 10/01/2025 17:09

I went to a local beautician and she was very well trained and knowledgeable about what was a tag, a mole or what a doctor should look at. It was £50 and well worth it as she did loads.
I felt so much better afterwards.
I tried the cryptag stuff you do yourself and don't bother. Probably ok if you only have one or two.

InfoSecInTheCity · 10/01/2025 17:14

Everyone has given answers to removing so I just wanted to flag that skin tags around the neck crease/collarbone can be a sign of diabetes or insulin intolerance so if you have any risk factors or other symptoms it's worth getting checked out.

babiesinthesnowflakes · 10/01/2025 17:16

I got them burnt off at a skin clinic. It was actually quite painful but over really quickly and they’ve never returned. I am really glad I did it.

Normallynumb · 10/01/2025 17:42

I had a small one on my neck.
My DS snipped it off with nail scissors
No bleeding and no return
