Can Anyone Recommend a Restaurant in Covent Garden

My DSis and I are taking my DM85 to see the Lion King in March for her birthday. We thought we would have an early dinner before we go home (we are seeing a matinee performance). Last year we did something similar and ate in the Delaunay which I really wasn't keen on.

DM uses a walker as she's a bit wobbly on her feet so wondered if anyone had any ideas where we could take her. We have also eaten in the Palm Court Brasserie which is nice but a bit cramped for DM to get around.

Agree with Brown's.

Based on the recommendations above, I would go for Cafe Murano. That would suit all. You could listen to the podcast The Dish as a warm up!

I ate in Paro last time I was close to there, was fairly good (not as good as authentic places half the price in other cities with large Indian populations but that's normal). Also at a thali restaurant but might be too far for you as it's about 20 mins

Roka near the Delaunay is a good Japanese. Or for more mainstream food there is a branch of The Ivy in Covent Garden.

roka is really loud

Clos Maggiore is lovely, especially if you can get a table in the covered courtyard

Came here to say the same. Why go anywhere else!

Great suggestions

Barafina is good food and wine too

We ate in Punjab six weeks ago and it was as good as it was when we discovered it eight years ago.

Not for your mom but for another trip I went to the eight on Shaftesbury avenue last week. Excellent food. We were the only non Asian (far east) in there.

Sagar is fab, a veggie/vegan Indian restaurant in Covent Garden (1 min walk from the covered market). Eaten there lots, delicious food every single time. www.sagarrestaurant.co.uk/

Masala Zone - was nice when I visited a few years ago!

Isn’t Rules on a first floor? And quite narrow stairs? I’ve only been once but that’s how I remember it.

Downstairs tables too and likely to accommodate accessibility easily with an advanced call

CandlesOrangesRedribbon · 01/01/2025 22:00

Balhazar is quite spacious and I'm sure they could sit you somewhere with room.

Rules has stairs but the main dining area is downstairs and I believe there is a loo there

mynameiscalypso · 01/01/2025 22:01

I wouldn't go to Balthazar personally. The last couple of times I've been, I've had such cramped and squashed together tables and I'm not sure how good it would be for accessibility.

IDontLikePinaColadas · 01/01/2025 22:04

Another vote for Cafe Murano or the Opera Tavern if you like tapas/sharing plates

Drreamingthedaysaway · 01/01/2025 22:04

Had a delicious lunch recently at Cinnamon Bazaar - we just went in on the off chance, noticing it as we walked past.

Palm Court Brasserie. I go regularly when I'm in London. Love it.

This is an old favourite of ours. We have been many times over the years but last time we went we struggled with space and the toilets are down that winding concrete staircase. We had to sandwich DM between us to ensure she didn't slip. It was nerve racking.

I was just about to mention Cinnamon Bazaar as I really rate it. Lovely food but quite informal, depends whether you're looking for something a bit more special.

That is a good point about the toilets. I stay nearby so I never usually go but yes they are down narrow steps.
