Itsabeautifulthing · 31/12/2024 21:12

No! And I would be devastating I'd let it go out of date 😭

ChangeEmailAddress · 31/12/2024 21:13

Are you my DH? He would 🤢

Blarn · 31/12/2024 21:13

I am very relaxed about dates, and how long things can be out of the fridge fr. But out of date seafood? Nope.

Not prawns, no way.

Outofdateprawncocktail · 31/12/2024 21:22

😆 Haha, yes of course no SANE person would but my Dickhead Husband will... 🤮

What a pillock. I've told him to make sure he wears undies (usually sleeps naked), as I don't want our bed ruined by some sure to be expected shitting!

Am I mean to secretly hope he suffers?
I have told him he shouldn't eat it and is an idiot if he does but he knows best of course! 😂 🙄

ViolinsPlayGentlyOn · 31/12/2024 21:23

No, not taking chances with prawns

Feellikeafailurenow · 31/12/2024 21:28

Nope

TheRozzers · 31/12/2024 21:32

Has he actually eaten it?!

Cripes good luck OP's DH.

tillytoodles1 · 31/12/2024 21:34

No. I left some prawns out to defrost for a few hours, but I got back later than I thought and they been out almost nine hours.
I ate them anyway, but had the shits in the middle of the night and the next day.

Randomontheinternet25 · 31/12/2024 21:36

@Outofdateprawncocktail Are you sleeping separately tonight? Stick him on a hard cleanable surface!

Outofdateprawncocktail · 31/12/2024 21:40

He hasn't eaten them (there are 2!!) yet. They are in the fridge, he's refusing to let ne throw them out.
I have even offered him the money they cost, in case that's what's driving him to eat them. 🙄

@Randomontheinternet25 Hmmm, that sounds a sensible precaution - I'll stick him in the bathroom from the start.

Cosmosforbreakfast · 31/12/2024 22:46

Just throw them out, you don't need his permission.

TomatoSandwiches · 31/12/2024 22:49

I had good poisoning from bad seafood in January 2019, it was THE most horrendously vile experience and I still now have digestive problems and foods (fresh dairy )that I can not eat without discomfort and or pain, you can even get sepsis from food poisoning, absolutely not worth the risk.

Notrynajudge · 31/12/2024 22:49

I think your DH should prepare for a free colon cleanse.

Funnily enough I have a thread on a day old chicken. After much deliberations I cooked the chicken with good results. That was after extreme heat over a long period of time. I wouldn't even entertain week old cold prawns.

LisaJohnsonsFacebookMole · 31/12/2024 22:50

Only if I wanted to practise bricklaying by sealing up the loo once I'd regained my strength.

There's a chance he'll be fine.
There's a very reasonable chance he'll shit through the eye of a needle.
There's a chance he'll get proper full blown food poisoning.

Most likely the smell, appearance or taste will put him off.

TomatoSandwiches · 31/12/2024 22:50

Cosmosforbreakfast · 31/12/2024 22:46

@Outofdateprawncocktail this, just open them and drizzle some fairy liquid on them both and in the bin.

This is very true.

Going to give them a bit longer to mature, is he...?

olympicsrock · 31/12/2024 23:18

No way - and I’m relaxed about this kind of thing

Tryingtoaccomodateeveryone · 31/12/2024 23:21

He could end up in hospital with sepsis if he gets food poisoning from prawns they can be really really dangerous and full of toxins when off.

OverthinkingOlive · 31/12/2024 23:24

Absolutely no way

Flidina · 31/12/2024 23:29

Definitely wouldn't eat it, it will probably be stinky by now anyway, so the smell would tell you it was off.

Friendofdennis · 31/12/2024 23:40

It’s not worth the risk. Throw them away

Plump82 · 31/12/2024 23:43

Absolutely not. My mum got horrendous food poisoning from a prawn ready meal curry and passed out the next day.

SugarPlumpFairyCakes · 31/12/2024 23:45

Never ever mess with prawns. The slightest doubt and bin them.
