Help, are any mumsnetters passing the St Pancras premier inn next few days

got an inconsolable 11 year old DS. Left his (once) white jellycat bunny, given to him when he was born. It has been temporarily lost before and he has a (almost as old) replacement but obviously it’s not the same. Anyway we are 99% sure it was left in a certain room in the premier inn st Pancras yesterday

Now back at home in Manchester. I am calling the hotel and getting no answer (they are grossly understaffed), I have got a response from Twitter but only that they will pass it on to the hotel which I can’t be sure will get through.

I’m wondering if any very kind mumsnetter may be able to pop in and try and physically ask someone - and/or if we can confirm it is there, pick it up (as I gather that they might not agree to send or just be too busy). Obviously I would pay postage plus a generous tip!

in the meantime wondering if anyone has any happy stories from lost property at the premier inn. Honestly they are so critically understaffed (perhaps deliberately so?) that only turning up in person is likely to get any result.

@Clearinguptheclutter how amazing, I would never have thought to ask here in these circumstances but I'm amazed at the power of MN and what a lovely way to end the year knowing there are humans like @GoldGoose in the world who will take time out of their day to help a complete stranger on the Internet! You have restored my faith in humanity @GoldGoose and i will be raising a toast to you this evening x

Mybingoballs · 31/12/2024 19:14

Go goose 🥰

Bagpuss2022 · 31/12/2024 19:17

What a lovely post had tears it’s lovely to see the kind side of MN
we are away for new year and my 14 year old DD has brought her comfort teddy with her (she has a AirTag now after a similar episode when it was left in DLP but got her back) .
never too old for a comfort

Pinkflamingo84 · 31/12/2024 19:19

My dad was in hospital for 2 weeks in the late fifties when he was about 10 and still talks about how awful it was only being able to see parents for very limited time each day. I will have to ask him about burning of the teddies.

Dad had scarlet fever as a child (1940s )and his beloved teddy was burnt when leaving hopital to ensure no germs were spread 😥

I’ve had exactly this experience with lost toys at Premier Inn, not once but TWICE! (You think we would have learned). Both times the very lovely people posted the teddy bear back to us! Fret not!

As in you got a kindly mumsnetter to help you out twice? Or was premier inn actually helpful.

I’d be really happy if we could celebrate the kindness of @GoldGoose rather than going down some rabbit hole about time machines and Hitler.

Not all heroes wear capes x

premier inn Harrogate were brill when our child’s iPad was left in the room and was stored in the safe on finding and then returned to us. The manager there said they had found £300 - a child had snuck his Xmas money away and then promptly lost in the room which they found and reunited to him (or his parents!)

@GoldGoose , you are a wonderful human being 💕 Happy New Year!

I think it worked this time!

It's completely ludicrous, the prices from USA for something that weights a few grammes. Etsy, too.
I apply filters to ''UK only now'', as so often one sees something lovely, and the postage price is astronomical .

Thanks to Brexit, even Europe is risky now for import duties and tax.

My brother arrives from the US on the 10th..... Just saying!

When DS17 was 3yrs old he lost his baba (Iggle Piggle from the Night Garden) toy.

One day, a few weeks later, we went to Mothercare and there sat his baba on a chair in front of a child’s toy organ! I remembered he’d sat there with it before he lost it! He’s obviously just left it behind. No one had moved it since! Maybe they hadn’t even seen it!

Same toy got lost. Couldn’t find it. Bought a new one and months later I found it in his little suitcase under his bed.

We still have both toys but he has no memory of them or even watching the Night Garden 😢

Many years ago, when the teletubbies were new, my DD's preciousTinky Winky soft toy went missing from our hotel room in Singapore. He'd been left in her bed.
We told reception and they contacted the laundry service just in case. Sure enough, he'd been gathered up with the bed linen and the laundry people had him. He was returned the next day, but had been through a hot wash with the sheets, and his plastic face has become slightly deformed around the eyes. He returned to us with almond shaped eyes, looking like Singaporean tellytubby.

I think the first reply saying it was heartless was saying that it's a terrible thing to think that if you had a time machine and the means to kill Hitler and save the lives of millions of people but would actually use that machine just to get your teddy back. That reply was saying the original person is an awful selfish person.

Which is insane and a completely ridiculous response to a post that was based on the existence of a working time machine and was just using that as a device to explain how much she missed her old teddy.

The heartless one is not the original poster of that comment that's for sure.

Also, you don't know what paradoxes would be set up by killing Hitler and preventing the Holocaust and WW2. You don't know what else would have happened instead that might have been even worse.

Premier Inn returned it to us both times! Once from Arundel and once from Cheltenham. How embarrassing!

ThistleTits · 01/01/2025 01:46

@GoldGoose well done!

ThereWillBeGold · 01/01/2025 10:34

Have just read this, so lovely you got it back! Well done @GoldGoose !
When our daughter was born, her dad got her a teddy bear.
Now an older teenager, she still wants to take it wherever we go away, I'm always worried she will leave it somewhere.

Namechangedididittoo · 01/01/2025 11:02

So glad you are getting the bunny back
i I think premier inn are terrible with lost property.
I had some clothes in a bag in the bathroom at p.i Blackpool and the housekeeping staff threw the complete carrier bag away (or stole it) we had only been out for the day. premier inn couldn’t have been less helpful if they’d tried. I’m still seething about my new jumper and underwear totalling around £55.

Itsme3167 · 01/01/2025 16:03

Awwwwww well done. Happy New Year x x x

Itsme3167 · 01/01/2025 16:13

My cousin lives in America. California. You could get it sent to him if you want. He comes over to the UK twice a years. If this would help I could send you a pm to sort the details. No obligation but the offer is there x
