If you're mid 40s, what vitamins and supplements do you take?

My socials are full of people listing what they're planning for their "New Year, New Me"

Almost all of them say take my vitamins and supplements daily. I don't take any and feel like I'm definitely an anomaly.

I need to be the doctor about menopause and feel generally shitty and achey - what do you all take and why please?

HRT, vitamin D in winter, magnesium to help sleep l get restless legs if I miss a dose) and creatine to get the most benefit from my time at the gym. I avoid most supplements especially those marketed for menopause.

FuckItItsFine · 29/12/2024 15:49

I take a Floradix Iron tablet (to combat fatigue) a Centrum women’s multivitamin (to supplement my not-the-healthiest diet) and Vitamin D 3000iu (because I live in Scotland and there is no sun).

Iamblossom · 29/12/2024 15:54

I take vit d, vit B, magnesium, a perimeno supplement, and I wash them down with a vit C drink into which I mix collagen

Oh and cod liver oil

Rainbow450 · 29/12/2024 15:55

Bit d, b complex and c with zinc as it's winter and I've been poorly.

BenditlikeBridget · 29/12/2024 15:56

I’m trying to consistently take

Berocca
Collagen
Iron
HRT.

The one I feel most benefit from is the iron.

Jellycats4life · 29/12/2024 15:58

I take vitamin D, calcium for my perimenopausal bones and a Berocca for a general hit of vitamin C and various forms of vitamin B

Paradoes · 29/12/2024 15:59

None - sometime I take a liquid supplement (floradex) but I don’t stick to it

creamsnugjumper · 29/12/2024 16:00

Cretine is on my list to add as I'm going to start training again, but would love to know more about its benefits.

Currently:
HRT
Magnesium (nighttime)
Folate & b12 (in a combined tablet)

I'd like to add vitamin D as well but not sure what that clashes with!

fixingmylife · 29/12/2024 16:01

I take vitamin D during the winter.

FrangipaniBlue · 29/12/2024 16:01

AG1 drink daily

Primrose Oil
Vit D
Vit K

FrangipaniBlue · 29/12/2024 16:02

Missed out Iron daily and creatine twice a week when I go to the gym

Cigarettesandbooze · 29/12/2024 16:03

Vit D, B and C
Magnesium
lions mane
iron
NMN
ashgawandha
biotin

TheWelshposter · 29/12/2024 16:05

Can anyone recommend a super vitamin that contains all of the above so that I don't having to take multiple tablets?

frozendaisy · 29/12/2024 16:05

Apart from vit d depends on your diet and lifestyle

rosalynd34 · 29/12/2024 16:05

Vitamin D, magnesium, boron, vit k2and a probiotic are my minimums. I do have other things I take but these are bare minimum over winter especially (October - April).

rosalynd34 · 29/12/2024 16:06

Forgot cod liver oil and B complex

NorthernGirlie · 29/12/2024 16:07

I have high blood pressure so not sure I'll be allowed to have HRT but I do need some help with menopause. The insomnia and hot flushes are kicking in.

BlackChunkyBoots · 29/12/2024 16:08

Perimenopause supplement.
Fish oils.

I'm a bit concerned about brain fog right now.

Smashingwatermelons · 29/12/2024 16:10

Just Vitabiotics well woman (plus or max depending on if I feel under the weather at time of purchase)
I try to take it regularly but go through phases when I forget I have them..

stripeystripedstripes · 29/12/2024 16:14

Just biotin. Started it because I had really weak nails and they seem to have improved as they’ve stopped splitting.

stargirl1701 · 29/12/2024 16:15

Vitamin D between Oct-April 4000IU

Cod Liver Oil capsule

General Multivitamin

UnaOfStormhold · 29/12/2024 16:16

I find individual tablets is the only way to avoid doubling up and getting too much or supplementing stuff I don't want. It also lets you try one thing at a time and drop things that don't make a difference.

I think in general diet is the best way to get what you need but as a veggie I don't get much creatine as I think I need to support my gym and triathlon training (bone and muscle building is high priority for me as I have osteopenia) and vitamin D is tough to get enough of in winter.

BusySittingDown · 29/12/2024 16:16

A multivitamin
cod liver oil
collagen and vitamin C
creatine

Augustus40 · 29/12/2024 16:17

Jellycats4life · 29/12/2024 15:58

I take vitamin D, calcium for my perimenopausal bones and a Berocca for a general hit of vitamin C and various forms of vitamin B

They say calcium should not be taken these days.
