(lighthearted) petty things that make you judge a person

People who don't like any hot drinks. A hot drink for me is the ultimate comfort. Someone told me they don't like them because they don't want to have to wait for their drink to cool down if they let thirsty. Who drinks a hot drink due to thirst?!

People who say they don't like water. How? You need water to survive. Not liking water is like not liking oxygen. And when you're dehydrated there's nothing like water.

Personalised number plates. What a waste of money and why would you want to be recognisable when driving.

Adult men who wear shorts all year round.

Yes! Particularly when the outside temperature is 3 degrees and they’re also wearing puffa jackets and beanie hats. I’ll excuse posties though.

Scrunch bum leggings on anyone.

People who are oblivious to others in shops, supermarkets and walking along pavements. I don’t wish to walk in the road, so you and your mates can walk three abreast.

Anyone who treats household pets as humans and refers to them in that way.

HowMuchOfYourHeart · 29/12/2024 12:41

people who say “simples”.

People who feel the need to correct others’ spelling and grammar.

I don’t like chocolate.

I don’t dislike hot drinks but I have a 1500ML fluid restriction as I’m in heart failure and prefer to save it for drinks that are thirst quenching, which hot drinks aren’t.

People who live in cities and towns and drive mahoosive SUVs

Find me a car that can carry a fixed frame wheelchair and a folded adult size K walker at the same time, that isn't an SUV, and I'll happily swap.

livingafulllife · 29/12/2024 12:49

Women that have grown up kids /teens that want another baby when they are knocking on 50.
But look down up on a woman that had a baby when she was young.

It is Tesla the car or is it Elon?

People say they'd never buy a Dyson. But is it Dyson the machine or James Dyson the inventor ?

I'd never buy a James Dyson the inventor.

Hskatkat · 29/12/2024 12:53

Ppl who keep making the same mistakes/life choices then wonder why their life is like it is.
Ppl who ask for advice and then argue every point suggested and ignore.
Self-centered ppl who feel societal rules don't apply to them.
Ppl who walk their dogs on longline or extendable leads in city centers or by roads
Gentle parenting when it's just not parenting
Screechy look at me ppl

*Ppl who vape whilst holding babies or children ( not lightheaded but I judge you
There are more things

RanchRat · 29/12/2024 12:54

People who call the main evening meal Supper. I imagine them sitting down in their jim jams with a teddy and a hot water bottle.

That’s right - because everyone who drives a Range Rover HSE or a Merc GLS needs one for their wheelchair.

I'd never buy a James Dyson the inventor.

I don't know , he;d be quite handy . When he invented the DoubleDrum washing machine he tested the theory of handwashing with a washboard .compared to a machine . (Hence the drums being in two halves that went clockwise and anti clockwise . Like the M25 Grin )

"James can you just handwash my jumper for me? Thank you" and he;d pootle off and do it .
(Except he wouldn't , His WM were taken off the market so he'd probably sulk )

slightlydistrac · 29/12/2024 12:57

Lighthearted and petty?

Really strong perfume.

People who walk their dogs beside a busy road on one of those really long retractable leads with the dog trotting along about 15 feet in front of them on the path.

Drivers who take about eleven goes to reverse their vehicle into a supermarket car park space. If you find it that hard, you really ought not to be on the road at all.

Freesias and other cut flowers bred for their longevity in a vase, but which smell of nothing at all. I seriously judge the plant breeders who came up with that bright idea.

Pickledhen · 29/12/2024 12:59

Long nails with nail art.
Big fake eyelashes...nearly to the point they can't or struggle to fully open their eyes.

Whoarethoseguys · 29/12/2024 13:00

People who say they don't like children.

CandyLeBonBon · 29/12/2024 13:01

Eh @slightlydistrac ? Freesias have a really strong scent! Used to be my nan's favourites!

I do love the group on "Sorted" Food but they say "Spag Bol" and "Creme Patt"

What is wring with saying the whole name it's just another couple of syllables

Yes, Creme Pat always sounds like people are trying to be amusing about eating a cow pat. I think I first heard it on Bake Off.

JoannaGroats · 29/12/2024 13:04

People who address a mixed sex group as "Guys"
I am not a guy . I have never been a guy . I will never be a guy .

To be fair, I hate the expression “guy” when referring to a man too. Why replace one perfectly serviceable three letter word with another?

FatFiatMultiplaWhopper · 29/12/2024 13:05

WhatTheKey · 29/12/2024 11:04

People with second homes. I think it's weird that anyone would feel comfortable with this, given that there aren't enough houses for the people we have. Especially annoying in touristy areas where people who want actual homes can't buy one due to the inflated prices.

Yes! So selfish. Let's bulldoze the countryside to build more houses because there aren't enough... meanwhile greedy twats hoard property. I'd cheerfully ban it.

personalised number plates

Yes!
Personalised number plates instantly make me think 'what a cock' 😂

Personally, I'd never buy James Dyson the inventor - I'd have nowhere to store him!

But seriously, for me, it would be both. His actions in greedily chasing ever bigger profits by taking the manufacturing from Britain to Malaysia clearly went hand-in-hand with cutting other costs across the board, thus ruining what started as a great, innovative, quality product.

It's absolutely not the case that manufacturers in Asia can't make quality goods; it's just that the western companies' main reason for using them to manufacture is to slash costs, so it's just purely logical with that mindset that they will also use the cheapest, lowest grade materials that they can possibly get away with.

Ditto farty cars. Usually they are both.

FizzyBisto · 29/12/2024 13:10

I started my post then got distracted, and in the meantime, other people had already made the same obvious 'hilarious' joke - as I now see!

Giggorata · 29/12/2024 13:11

Oh, I think mine were less lighthearted and petty than asked for, so I'll go for…

People who say they love dogs more than people.
People who automatically say “Oh, American…”.
People who tell you what they are like, generally something annoying, and end with “Well, that's just the way I am”.
People who swear something “on my children's life”.
People using the phrase “this bad boy”.
People using the phrase “all my Christmases had come at once”.
People who say “pacific” when they mean “specific”.

Ha Ha

I meant is it the actual product or the person responsible for them?

I know Tesla are nice cars (though I don;t have a hope of owning one ) but the actions of Elon Musk will put people off
Likewise Dyson

I do have a Dyson AirStrait and a Dyson Dyer ( which DD purloined ) which are great .

hamstersarse · 29/12/2024 13:12

The ‘big’ light in any room

People who faff around at the petrol station

Controversial one: depressed people who talk about themselves all the time

Packaging on almost everything you buy these days…impossible to open with going off on the rage gauge

People who never ask questions about you during conversations

People who come in your house and feel the need to rearrange things / comment on how they’d do it

witchycat2 · 29/12/2024 13:14

I also hate the phrase 'little man'

People who dislike cats and dogs. I find it’s either attention seeking or coming from a dark place.

Those who take offence to people treating their pets as children. The pets are family and need looking after, it’s perfectly understandable to refer to the pet’s owners as parents. People might have other sensitive reasons for treating their pets like children too.

Those who don’t let their dogs socialise or stop for a sniff on walks.

Those who stand up as soon as the plane lands, regardless of which row they’re on.

The pets are family and need looking after, it’s perfectly understandable to refer to the pet’s owners as parents.

It really isn't. They're not human. I'm not saying this to be attention-seeking nor does it come from a dark place (nor do I dislike pets, actually) - it comes from utter bafflement at wanting to treat other species as if they're human.
