Have your pets managed to steal any food this Christmas?

Our dogs and cats years ago didn't usually get the opportunity but one year, one of our cocker spaniels snaffled a box of liqueur chocolates from under the Christmas tree and she scoffed the lot. I expect she suffered but lived to tell the tale (15 years old when she died). Chocolates weren't that attractive to her afterwards!

My labrador would never steal food as she is a good girl!! She stares at the food with drool hanging off but would never take it unless I said she could!

My 16 month old cocker spaniel jumped over the baby gate and scoffed my whole Xmas dinner in under 5 seconds. It took me double that realise what was going on
Annoyed with the little fucker was an understatement.

Oh dear!

One of the rabbits got Santa's mince pie, we had to chase her around the room for ages to get it off her (she'd only had a little bit). She was fuming. Also had the string off a Christmas bauble which was hanging too low on the tree. She's having a really fun Christmas!

Caught my dog licking a mince pie my child had left on a side table ... Averted a crisis.

Way back in 1983 my MIL had one of those old 1960's cream enamel cookers on legs. There was a large vent at the back

She cooked the turkey the night before and left it in the oven overnight and came down to half a leg and bit of breast had been snaffled by the cat reaching in through the vent

Oldraver · 27/12/2024 20:18

And seeing the cat up thread with a bowl of cream, this was my cat this morning eating the croissant crumbs as quick as I could make them

To be fair they have been spoilt rotten with duck and beef fillet before cooking

Yesterday, I shredded the turkey for a turkey curry and put a cat net over it whilst I popped to the loo. Came back to find the fat elderly cat had rediscovered his youth climbed onto the work surface and had removed the net and was happily stuffing his face.

One of my dogs decided to eat the mince pie that DD left out for Santa on Christmas Eve. A lovely 11pm emergency vet visit for us! 😱

Quite the opposite - my ragdoll has decided the bits of cold chicken (human grade that goes in sandwiches and is basically sliced chicken breast - as OH BSH has a very sensitive tummy so we dont want to risk normal cat treats) is an attempt to poison her and has been making her disgust at it quite clear by turning at an angle to it, and sweeping the floor with a front leg....

My mum brought round a little parcel of turkey for them, apparently she finds that equally disgusting 🙄

I read this thread yesterday, laughing at the naughty dogs and cats.
Today I found the remains of a Lindt ball under the table, where the nutter orange kitten had obviously jumped up and gone fishing in the box... it had been bitten in two but thankfully not eaten. Sigh!
