What was your favourite part of Christmas?

Hoping to spread some joy and focusing on the good of Christmas this year, so what was your favourite part?

For me, DS is 4 and is just understanding Christmas and Santa better and seeing him pick out a mince pie and carrot and drink of Santa and Rudolph the night before as well as the sheer wonder and joy in his eyes this morning when he came downstairs was everything for me.

Seeing my kids having so much fun with my two little nephews. My 13 year old really got stuck in helping them build presents and playing with them and it was so cute. Also the pure joy my 8 year old had over her presents. She loved everything and was so happy.

That sounds so wonderful!!

I also loved sitting down for all the Christmas family movies!

The stuffing!

Also my 15yo DS, who I to easily label as a stroppy teen, had got really thoughtful gifts for everyone. I was really impressed with him! He was also chuffed with his presents, which was lovely to see.

The first year both DDs had babies & came for dinner/afternoon with their partners.
Just a lovely relaxed day.

PheasantPluckers · 25/12/2024 22:34

My DD being excited, watching Christmas films snuggled up together with the Christmas lights on, enjoting festive tipples and treats and spending time with family today and us all having fun and playing games 💖 I love Christmas!

ThePure · 25/12/2024 22:35

My teen DC still being really excited for their stockings
MIL actually liking something I cooked (cauliflower cheese)
Everyone from 5-75 laughing at Wallace and Grommit Grin

daffodilandtulip · 25/12/2024 22:36

My two teens reunited after DD first uni term - getting on, laughing and spending the whole day together. Oh, and being united enough to present me with three surprise gifts!

PermanentTemporary · 25/12/2024 22:36

Opening my presents - which hasn't been the case for years, but today was amazing!

Cooking with dp for most of the afternoon, doing a soundtrack choosing songs in turn.

SecretWitch · 25/12/2024 22:37

We decided to stay home this year.. no family, no presents, just us

It's been fantastic. We slept late, had coffee, fed the birds.. it was blissful

AngryPrincess · 25/12/2024 22:37

Singing carols with my Dd in the morning, while we did something. She really likes God rest ye merry gentlemen by Pentatonix, so every second song was that one.

Aw I hope you tell him so - I remember it being nerve wracking choosing gifts for my family as a kid, really hoping they'd be right.

Making tempered chocolate with DS and DH just for a fun thing to do. Watching the carols at Westminster. Putting nuts out in the garden for the squirrel and watching him burying them in the pot plants. Waiting to see if our snail egg had hatched. Also seeing the pride that DS takes in having hid DH's christmas present.

Bananaram · 25/12/2024 22:42

Dancing with DD6 and DH to "No Limits" by 2 Unlimited. We had our first Christmas away, just the four of us, no big Christmas dinner, no stress, the best Christmas I've ever had 😊

itsalwaysthesame · 25/12/2024 22:48

The moment I waved goodbye to the last of my visitors (family & love them but it's exhausting).

Also loved seeing my girls open their presents & stockings

GameOfJones · 25/12/2024 22:50

The wonder in DD2's eyes when she came downstairs and saw the presents and that the mince pie and carrot had been eaten.

Dancing around the living room with both DDs to Christmas songs.

This year's roast potatoes were the best ever.

Boopeedoop · 25/12/2024 22:54

Spending the day with my family, especially my 4 month old Granddaughter. She is ace!

hailholyqueen · 25/12/2024 22:54

Kids opening pressies. Smile

Enko · 25/12/2024 22:54

My 3 youngest (oldest having her first christmas with her fiance just the 2 of them) just hanging with dh and I supporting with cooking and cleaning.

All 5 of us squished into our small living room to watch Wallace and Grommit.

Just being with 4 of my 6 most favourite people in the world.

Dh got a thoughtful stocking for me and beautiful earrings. (Unusual he is often bad at presents but got dd2 to help this year)

Dd2 delighting in the present dd3 had got her (a book about drawing)

Dd3 speechless at getting the lego space shuttle she so wanted but thought was out of cost money wise (tnx to my dad)

Ds delighting in grown up presents like a knife block and Le Crueset salt and pepper shakers.

Photos from dd1 as she prepared her christmas food for the first time. She was so delighted with herself and her fiance

Calling my dad sister and niece. And calling my stepdad.

All in all a lovely Christmas.

ThePoshUns · 25/12/2024 22:55

Gavin and Stacey!

Bugbeau · 25/12/2024 22:56

Really lovely reading all these! Glad you all had such happy moments.

BigDahliaFan · 25/12/2024 22:58

We were hosting dh's family and a couple of friends, we've had more for Christmas dinner but still 9. Dh cam down with flu. It was lovely his kids came round to help me. It was a lovely day.

theDudesmummy · 25/12/2024 23:02

My autistic DS's teacher bought him a board game called Beat the Parents. He concentrated throughout and beat us fair and square (getting out of dishwasher duties for a week in the process)! He is super chuffed.

december2020 · 26/12/2024 00:33

I have loved reading these!

It's the first Christmas without my mum and I'm feeling a little bit emotional - ha!
So thank you everyone for sharing so far.

The whole Christmas dinner, it was bloody lush

Cherrysherbet · 26/12/2024 00:40

My 13 yr old dd gave me a Christmas card that said ‘you’re my Mum and my friend’. It made be emotional, especially as I lost my Mum in July.
The little things mean so much.
