For me it’s how disgusting it is to wash dishes in a sink or basin full of water. It turns my stomach a bit. The dishes have to be washed in fresh, running water.

Dogs shouldn't be kept as pets. Very strange to keep a dog in isolation, make it bend to human rules and drag it round by its neck once a day then say it loves a walk. In fact, keeping animals as pets at all is odd.

Exactly! Society praises the strong silent type, but that’s usually nothing more than conditioning, to not express emotions, to not express true feelings, to not cry etc. Usually starts in childhood when a fully grown adult will stand over a little crying boy and tell him to „”man up”. Also constantly walking on egg shells because this strong silence type has never been taught to express himself properly or articulate his emotions.

Ah yes, I forgot that grazing animals didn’t exist before modern farming, and nor did farming as we didn’t have any top soil, despite the planet being largely plant covered.

This is true. I wish farming were less intensive, and that there was a better balance of meat and dairy consumption so that animal welfare was prioritised, as it's better for everyone all round. But the reality is you can't support the number of people we have, at the price points that people can afford, without something having given through economies of scale.

I don't eat meat or dairy, but I'm very aware that I'm reliant on foods that require equally intensive farming practices and potentially dubious or actively abusive employment practices. Unfortunately I don't think it's possible to live a modern lifestyle now without consuming (either food or goods) where someone human or animal, hasn't been harmed somewhere in the production chain.

When we discovered they were a good source of nutrition we began to farm them, even though we wiped out a good percentage of the forests, if we don’t use them for nutrition (which they are very good for as they provide the full quota of essential amino acids & healthy saturated fat and if grazed high in essential omega 3 ) what do you suggest we now do with them, return the land to forests and set them free to roam? By the amount of talk on mumsnet of how many more babies can I have. I should think that land will need to be made into apartment for the growing population. So what will we eat?
