Good Morning Everyone! What's everyone up to today?

I'm just drinking my first cuppa of the day, in my kitchen spot, before I crack on with my small to-do list. The kittens are curled up under the table, after their breakfast, and the girls are still sleeping, so it's nice and quiet down here 😊

Since they're all peaceful, the first thing I'll do is finish wrapping for the girls & stash those bits, then get dressed & tackle the rest!

Dd1's best friend is calling at some point to collect her gift & visit for an hour, and I'm expecting my dad at some point although haven't heard from him yet this morning. Dd1's leaving with her friend to go and buy a birthday present for dd2 I think.

Hopefully later there'll be plenty of time to chill with my crochet, before we decide what's for tea - not a clue even though the freezer's full!

Early ish nights all round tonight ready for walking into town in the morning to visit the greengrocer and cheese monger 😋 .

What about all of you? 🙂

Morning all!
Thanks for the bonus thread @lucysmam

I’m WFH today, but it’s been nice and calm so can get a few bits done in between looking at spreadsheets.

I’ll be getting the dogs out for a run later, then will have a bit of a tidy and a film. We watched Red One yesterday, it was really good, I wouldn’t watch it with really little ones though.

Have a good day all.

Good afternoon from sunny Spain! We are here with family for Christmas.
we have just been to a huge shopping centre for last minute bits. It was busy but didn’t seem as stressful as British shopping centres.
DS 11 very pleased he could get Xbox related stuff in the big shopping centre

now we are going to another relatives for lunch by the sea then tonight I’ll be practising my Yorkshire puddings in the air BnB ready for the big day 😊

Got up, emptied dishwasher, sorted some washing and put another load on.
I was all sorted but DH has suddenly started drinkng loads of milk - which meant we ran out. Waited for ages for my friend who said she'd drop presents off, got in the car and she appeared, so quick handover there. She said the traffic wasn't too bad (ha!).
I wouldn't have taken the car but since I hurt my arm the milk's too heavy for me and nobody else was up.
Tesco car park was manic, including the bit which is usually empty and just has driving school pupils practising!
Eventually found a space but no room to straighten up properly because of all the traffic behind. Mega queue at cashpoint and only 1 out of 2 working - there used to be 4 but they got rid of some in covid, God knows why as they're outside anyway!
Got into the shop and the queues were back for miles, turned and left and drove along the back roads to the One Stop at Hazlerigg - working cash point, got milk and sorted.
Now back and having a coffee and eating my Lindt chocolate bear I bought on my trip to Leeds, which turned out not to be a Christmas present for anyone - except me - after all!
We're visiting relatives at the coast later so their stuff's in the car - but not til 3 so we're planning to go and have fish and chips in our favourite restaurant first - not been there for ages!
Lovely reading what everyone else is up to!

Next time send the milk guzzler out first more!

At work. Where I'm stuck till 2pm.
6 hr shift tomorrow and boxing day.
Christmas day off thankfully- we have pizza planned for Christmas day dinner, no point slaving over a hot kitchen for one day off.

Simonjt · 23/12/2024 12:27

@lucysmam He’s got them, no under 12’s allowed when we’re getting things ready as they get in the way.

Twitwootoo · 23/12/2024 12:29

Collected my shop at 7.30 am, have lots of washing going and am working today and tomorrow so wading through everything I need to leave my boss who is working between Xmas and new year

TribulationPeriwinkle · 23/12/2024 12:40

Thank you for the bonus thread, @lucysmam !
I hope you get good news, @drivinmecrazy and can relax and enjoy Christmas.

DD was supposed to be going to her holiday club today but has declared herself ill - and, to be fair, she is a bit coldy. So my day of Getting Shit Done is but a distant dream.
She’s watching cartoons in her room while DP sorts out lunch (jacket potatoes, tuna mayo and broccoli) and I sort out laundry load #593849229.
My dad’s coming round a bit later to drop off the turkey and some other Christmas dinner bits.
I need to dig out DD’s stocking and do some actual wrapping - just have to be sure the coast is clear!

ssd · 23/12/2024 12:47

Hi @lucysmam and everyone here, and good luck for today @drivinmecrazy

I'm still not dressed, made the breakfast. Now watching an old judy garland film. Its lovely.

Im working tomorrow so today is brave the shops for last minute stuff.

Hugmorecats · 23/12/2024 12:49

I’m off work now and there’s tons of useful things I could do round the house but the kids are here and keep whacking and shouting at each other whenever I leave the room. Went to the park earlier to give them a runaround, which was a nice break from the arguing. Instead I’m drinking tea and reading in between breaking up the boxing rounds.

MumChp · 23/12/2024 13:03

Rice pudding cooked (Scandinavian food tradition 23rd December) for tonight.

Cleaned kitchen, floors and bathoom (and drains! - hate then). Sorted dishwasher and laundry. Put groceries away.
Packed for 3 days away - clothes, presents everything.
Had a shower.

It's cold and rainy. Not worth going out. Husband out for rugby practise. Daughter drawing in her room.

I will warm a glass mulled wine with almonds and raisins in a minute. Find a book, maybe a nap - doing nothing!

Hedjwitch · 23/12/2024 17:34

Braved the shops for last few thing but felt unwell so came home and slept for 3 hours. Made the cranberry sauce and hoovered sitting room. Ready for another sleep. I hate fibromyalgia.

lucysmam · 23/12/2024 17:43

@Hedjwitch sorry you felt unwell. I've just had 20 mins sat on my own (well, with girl kitten snuggled up in my clean bedding) to recharge. Sometimes we need to rest, Christmas or not 💐

Good Morning Everyone! What's everyone up to today?
