What might I have forgotten on my Christmas food shop list?

Completely drowning in present buying, wrapping, house cleaning and preparing to host family on Christmas Day. Managed to do a good chunk of the big food shop today and am making a list for my early morning dash around the shops on Monday morning to get the remaining stuff. I can't even think straight so I'm sure I'll have forgotten something that is key to the day! What could it be?

But don't worry too much, I have wine, I made sure I stocked up on that today 🤣🤣

We have just noted what we need to get. DS1 has volunteered to brave the supermarket again tomorrow.

Apples
Fresh basil (for bruschetta)
Celery (for cheese board and crudités)
Bread (for bruschetta)
Cocktail sausages
Posh chicken stock
Whole grain mustard (for the cocktail sausages, along with honey which we do have)

Don’t forget the four horsemen of the Xmas apocalypse: loo roll, bin bags, washing up liquid, extra milk. It’s always the boring things that get overlooked.

SeaToSki · 21/12/2024 23:00

Tea bags
Nice beverages for those that dont drink alcohol
Extra washing up liquid
Potatoes
Bubblebath for you, when its all over!

thehousewiththesagegreensofa · 21/12/2024 23:00

Are there any drinks, condiments or anything which particular visitors "have" to have?
What are you cooking things in? Do you need any of those disposable foil trays?

You have a slot? The closest the Christmas I could get was Weds just gone. Xmas Confused

Yes, I have the delivery saver thing and got a slot fairly easily. I’ll do a top up anyway at a different store for different stuff!

Edingril · 21/12/2024 23:10

We tend to forget what goes with things so if we have honey carrots sure we would have plenty of carrots but no honey type things

As long as you have pigs in blankets then Xmas is saved.
