Given the political situation that incoming President might create, would this make you reconsider a family holiday to Florida next summer?

No

Go In May, much nicer time to visit

I went May half term this year - it was HOT! And I normally like the heat.

MrsKeats · 17/12/2024 21:03

Absolutely not.

Bramble88 · 17/12/2024 21:09

yes, going to florida in the summer, hadnt even crossed my mind to cancel.

Gymmum82 · 17/12/2024 21:14

We’re planning a trip in June. Absolutely not putting us off

WalterdelaMare · 17/12/2024 21:32

Eh? What are you worried about?

We go to SW Florida every year. We love it there. (We’ve never been anywhere remotely near Disney, mind.) We have a place in a very conservative, Republican voting area but it doesn’t have any impact on us and we’ve been going for 20 plus years.

IceCreamMundae · 17/12/2024 21:35

We wont be going while Trump is in power. It is a tiny amount of money on a scale of things, and yet I choose to spend it in a country that doesn’t vote a rapist into the highest office.

We are the same as this. Same as his last term. Plenty of places I can spend my money without implicitly validating a decision to elect a rapist as leader.

It wouldn't be my first choice but if it was cheap enough I might.

I'm not a massive fan of humidity but I do like thunderstorms and as it's off peak it's pretty cheap. It depends on whether the things I want to do would be open in low season.

Correct. Thanks for making me feel worse. I’m not going to the USA with him in power, that’s where the story ends.

I hope your moral conviction keeps you company this Christmas.

That's really nasty. I can't imagine why this woman's personal choice has elicited such venom from you. She's not asking you to stay out of the US.

Babadookinthewardrobe · 17/12/2024 22:12

Hell yes. I’ve been twice and loved it, would love to go back.

etonmessedup · 17/12/2024 22:17

Not if there was the slightest chance I or anyone I was travelling with could be pregnant.

Florida law looks to say an abortion can be performed if the pregnant woman's life is at risk, but having seen the stories from real women online, I couldn't risk it.

Watching to see if trade tariffs affect tourism… interesting posts thread on a social media site in which Canadians state they have cancelled or postponed bookings at Disney in Florida…

This.

And the fact that there are guns everywhere.

So… if any of you did go this year- was anything different? Did it feel different ?

Way too hot for me. I love going to the US, though, regardless of my dislike of the current administration.
