How much for new bathroom?

Chewwy41 · 10/12/2024 13:27

Have no idea of even a ball park figure for a new bathroom.
id like all new wall and floor tiles and whole new bathroom suite.
happy enough with the position of everything just needs replaced. Possibly would think of getting rid of the bath but maybe not. At minute shower is over the bath just
its a very small bathroom.
any help would be much appreciated.
thanks!

Have a think about wall panels for the shower/side of the bath. Cheaper than tiles and no issues with grout going manky.

We had a new shower cubicle, toilet, sink, and two shower walls replaced with wall panels earlier this year and total was about £2,500 all in (South East) but I did some of the ripping out, and replaced the toilet and sink my self. I paid the fitter around £2,000 for the shower cubicle, mixer tap, wall panels and odds and sods, and paid for the toilet and sink (and a few other bits) myself.

Yes, I was just about to say £10k.

It wasn’t so long ago that you’d get a new kitchen for that Sad

£5k for my tiny bathroom, he added an electric shower and towel rail and new P shaped bath and Sink/toilet unit. Instead of tiles I had wall panels put in which was far quicker as the tiles were removed and battens put up instead of having to make the wall good and means no grouting to clean, new floor and ceiling covering.

You won’t get much change out of 25k for a fully installed and designed kitchen now! 🙈

somuchtodonextyear · 10/12/2024 14:01

I work in construction and I'd also budget £10k

You can of course save money if you do some works yourself like stripping off existing wall finish etc and choosing a budget bathroom suite

Ginmonkeyagain · 10/12/2024 14:05

We paid £6k for a small bathroom six years ago. So I assume you are looking more at £8 - 10k at least now.

Webbb · 10/12/2024 14:55

I just wanted to say I also recommend wall panels! I have glittery ones in my new house which looks shite BUT I'd definitely get them again (not glittery!) when we get the bathrooms redone next year.

They're brilliant. No grout, no scrubbing, always look shiny and clean.

Wheelyfast · 10/12/2024 17:17

I had bathroom & two ensuites done four years ago that cost around 11k the materials have gone up in that time. I looked at changing bathroom recently & it would have been 10k + just for the bathroom .
Agree mermaid board is easier/quicker to install and keep clean in comparison to tiles

DownThePubWithStevieNicks · 10/12/2024 17:29

£12k is average where I am (Scotland). Lots of factors. For example, some of the fashionable tile styles take ages to do and bump up cost.

Also depends when things were last modernised. If it needs stripped back to wall and rebuilt to current building standards, you’re adding on a few grand.

Iliketulips · 10/12/2024 17:35

Wickes were going to install a new bathroom for us costing £6,500 plus tiling. Fell through, as they totally messed as around. Now have a local chap book at £6,700 plus tiles which are £256 (supplied by somewhere he has a discount so that passed on).

Installation includes a toilet, vanity/sink unit, bath, shower over bath (runs off boiler, not electric), tiling around three sides of bath and slightly over, bathroom flooring, touching up a ceiling crack and fitting of shelving/wall bathroom cabinet which we will provide.

Iliketulips · 10/12/2024 17:36

Oh, forgot a towel rail is included.

Following as looking to get our bathroom completely done, new suite, walls, floor and ceiling (which has polystyrene tiles🤦‍♀️),done next year. I've not heard about wall panels. Are these better than tiles then?

Youcancallmeirrelevant · 10/12/2024 17:58

Probably around £10k including fitting. Fitting probably around 5k then bathroom can be as cheaper or expensive as you want

Unexpectedlysinglemum · 10/12/2024 17:59

I did mine from high street places and the whole thing was about 8-9k inclusive of labour and all the parts

Wheelyfast · 10/12/2024 17:59

Wall panels / mermaid board are love/hate it's worth googling yourself as there are so many variations and brand names. @ConfusedPuddleyou can get everything from plain white to glitter to looking like a slice of agate some look like tile some don't

Thunderpants88 · 10/12/2024 18:00

We just had our bathroom done and no changing to plumbing and it was £11k

Theoldwrinkley · 10/12/2024 18:01

Totally agree with poster about wall panels. So much better than tiles, and easier to keep clean.

sidsgranny · 10/12/2024 18:02

We've just had ours done. New Bath, shower, toilet, sink. Tiling in shower cubicle and above sink. Wood panelling around bath. New floor and walls painted. Was just under £10k.

I managed a fab bathroom for just over 5,000
but got discount on suite etc
and a great deal on really fabulous tiles high-end designer because been dis continued if you shop really well don’t let the plumber supply the stuff get it yourself. Sales are coming up. It’s doable for a lot less than you think. Don’t underestimate the labour cost so I’ll get a price for labour only and you supply
I do have various trade accounts that helped, but it’s perfectly doable if you shop around

Jillybloop393 · 10/12/2024 18:31

Just a word or two of advice ... whatever your budget, please please look at Wickes Kitchen and Bathroom Horror stories, and heed some of the three thousand, eight hundred members stories. There are unbelievable tales of woe on there - avoid the place like the plague! I wish I had!

GoBackToPartyCity · 10/12/2024 18:35

We’ve just had ours done and it was approx £11k. It needed going back to brick, boarding and new piping.
