For the last few years, @ApocalypseNowt has posted the quiz from her workplace. Surely it's time for this year's joint MN effort...?

Using this list, and my method, we get

WORKS
ILCLU
DESAL
EMSLO
TANDC
ARRIE

so it looks like Christopher Plummer may be incorrect as the phrase should read

WORKS INCLUDE SALEMS LOT AND CARRIE

Must be Julie Andrews then.

Edited to add - amazing job on figuring this out!!

ApocalypseNowt · 14/12/2024 23:18

Came back on to say I think it's Stephen King! Can't check now as my computer won't let me log on after a certain time. Will check tomorrow though.

MarmiteWine · 14/12/2024 23:19

Aargh!! Yes, I'd spotted this one earlier, then forgotten 🤦‍♀️

I think Christopher Plummer should be Julie Andrews! First 2 movies are Mary Poppins and The Sound of Music.

Thanks! Would you believe that I missed out row 5 when I transcribed from the list of names and still managed to see the solution 🤣

ApocalypseNowt · 15/12/2024 00:07

You guys are amazing!

Will confirm answer tomorrow. I think that's the last puzzle but there's still 4 or so that I did earlier and didn't post so I can put them on too if peeps still fancy puzzling!

WitcheryDivine · 15/12/2024 07:24

Wow that’s brilliant and great team work all round!!

MaggieFS · 15/12/2024 08:55

Wowsers. Well done.

Yes please @ApocalypseNowt

ApocalypseNowt · 16/12/2024 17:58

Stephen King is correct! Thank you all.

Here's another puzzle from earlier on...

I think the answer to 'Starter for 10' is 61483 - I won't post how I got that yet as it;s onyl been up for a few hours,

ApocalypseNowt · 16/12/2024 17:58

Stephen King is correct! Thank you all.

Here's another puzzle from earlier on...

Is it a quote or something and the length of each word?

Mince3141 · 17/12/2024 21:02

Stared at the starter for 10 one for an embarrassingly long time before I thought to count the number of letters in each word.

ApocalypseNowt · 17/12/2024 21:20

@PP00hsticks and @MMince3141 have got it. I stared it for far too long before twigging!

P00hsticks · 17/12/2024 22:10

Ok, on to the 'Retro' one - unfortunately I'm struggling to recognise many of these.

So far I have....

Muppet Babies Smurfs Moomins (?) ??????
????????? ?????? ????????? Wombles

??????????? Will'o'the Wisp ????????? Rupert Bear
Roland Rat ????????? ????????? Sesame Street

?????????? Inspector Gadget Magic Roundabout Rainbow
?????????? Scrooge McDuck ? Count Duckula ????????

??????????? ????????????? ?????????????? ???????????
??????????? ????????????? Superted Dogtanian

Any help filling in the gaps appreciated.
I imagine that whether they are in a triangle, rectangle or oval is also significant somehow....

houseofstark · 17/12/2024 22:23

I think in the first picture we have The Raggy Dolls in the bottom left and Family-Nessie the right.

I'm not sure if the picture in between them is Transformers?

houseofstark · 17/12/2024 22:30

Sorry should be Family-Ness.

On the third group, the first picture is the Mysterious Cities of Hold. Underneath that is Pigeon Street.

houseofstark · 17/12/2024 22:35

And on the last group, 2nd on top row is Dungeons & Dragons and fourth one is Bananaman.

On the bottom row, 2nd one is Button Moon and third one I think is Superted

Ereshkigalangcleg · 18/12/2024 01:21

On the third group, the first picture is the Mysterious Cities of Hold

Inspector Gadget next to Mysterious Cities of Gold, on the top row

whenyouwereyoung · 18/12/2024 07:54

First set Fraggle Rock (I think)
Second set Henry's cat

whenyouwereyoung · 18/12/2024 07:56

Third set (The) Raccoons

Ereshkigalangcleg · 18/12/2024 09:53

Yes agree with Fraggle Rock!
