How the hell do I get DS's work boots try for tomorrow

He's been working overtime today in the pissing rain all day. His work boots are soaked and he needs them for tomorrow. I don't have any newspaper and don't have a hairdryer. Apart from putting them on a radiator what can I do to get them dryer?

I'm not ashamed to admit I help him out with stuff like this. He's my son and he works hard. He also helps around the house, will pick us up when we're out and is generally a lovely, helpful young man. I don't really understand when people come on here and act like you're some kind of maniac for helping your (just) adult children out. Fine to help a complete stranger out, but god forbid you actually act with kindness towards your own family.

I would be doing exactly the same as you. MN is a very odd place, it is probably because you said it was for your DS and it sends some people into a spin as there are a lot of anti male posters on her.

Take laces out, move tongue down and put them in the airing cupboard.

Or, do you have a flask or hot water bottle. If so fill with hot water and put them in them.

Open the oven door, put oven on a high heat and put a towel over the glass door and leave them in it for a while.

If you don’t have paper or newspaper I’d put them on or near a radiator and use tea towels or failing that fill two socks with a decent amount rice and put that in instead of newspaper to draw out the moisture

If they are safety boots they may well be employer issue ones and they often prefer you not to buy your own.

Second the waterproof socks recommendation, get him some for Christmas if he works outdoors.

Did you manage to get them dry?

TitaniasAss · 09/12/2024 17:00

Yes thanks, found an old newspaper and shoved them on top of the radiator. Thanks for all the suggestions.

You could also try filling them with rice and putting them on the radiator if the newspaper gets too soggy
