Is anybody else listening to LBC right now? On a particular show? I have just heard a lady say I’m going to vote reform I am not racist but on a recent visit to my friend in hospital in London there was too many brown faces about I didn’t see any white people that’s why I am voting reform but I am not racist.
Seriously, are these people absolutely deluded because I’d have more respect for them if they actually openly admitted they were racist

I live 600 metres away from one migrant hostel, and half a mile away from a hotel which houses asylum seekers and migrants. Both are grim. I know because I've been in them. Some are in hotels that are a bit nicer. Most aren't.

I suspect you get all your information about asylum and migrants from watching Britain First TikToks.

The quality of hotel accommodation varies. Most rooms are in budget hotels, which are being used during the pandemic because social distancing is not possible in accommodation the Home Office usually uses, especially those that have several beds or bunkbeds in one room.

as I say, majority of this are budget hotels, but any hotel is not going to be a hotel what you think it is it will be made a lot different when they’re inside

I’m appalled at housing asylum seekers- particularly children- in former barracks and such like. I can’t remember the name of the place, but it was awful. I’ve not stayed up to date on how we’re currently accommodating asylum seekers/illegal immigrants. I used to be more politically aware but had to draw my boundaries a bit closer in for health reasons. I didn’t offer to foster unaccompanied children as we’d had to stop fostering (health reasons). Many of my friends did.

Funnily enough I have never and would never vote reform, or obviously UKIP. I don’t think I’ve voted conservative. I voted Remain, but know many Brexiteers are not racist either.

I’m certainly not any of the isms being bandied about. I’m just able to see when debates are being shut down, without addressing the issues. I would say that it’s becoming increasingly hard to have a reasonable debate because racist xenophobes are also communicating in headlines and CAPSHOUTS.

So I have sympathy with the instinct to just shut them up.

@izimbra I’m pleased your trans friends are doing well. My family members are not. Perhaps in a couple of decades you’ll be wondering where the missing LGB generation are. asylum seekers - who have a legal right to come and claim asylum are housed in hotels and hostels while their claims are processed - they can’t work so they can’t rent anywhere - maybe speed up the processing and those with a right to remain can work and pay tax - and those who don’t will be returned.

I think the problem it is to claim asylum is not illegal. I think there’s a lot of conflation with the terms. I do think they need to be processed more quicker but I also think we should be allowing them to work so they don’t have to sit in hotels and then when they are processed, they can either get the stay ahead to stay or they get removed. That’s why we do need ID cards in this country.

The fact is there is only 1% kids in boat among 99% of men and their tactic is to get the child with them because for other countries will be more easy for them to cross borders as they rarely not help parents with children. The kids made them much easy to cross border. I even watch one time group of 5-7 men with one boy they all claimed they are all family this is thief tactics. Those who come without documents and not via airport or other transports by sneaking by boats and cross borders not on check points are coming illegally... go to France or Ireland without passport and sneak to them by boat or don't know how and tell the border security you are there legally 😅

You can not enter a country- by any means to claim asylum illegally - it’s a legal right - no one claiming asylum is doing anything illegal

Mumsnet is awash with GC's raging about transgender women - usually portraying them as a bunch of dangerous predatory men whose entire aim in life is to destroy women. I mean there's literally a whole board dedicated to threads with thousands of posts about this.
