They don’t take the last of the milk and save it for mum’s morning cup of tea because they know you love the first cup of tea of the day .

I was touched by my kind boys this morning aged 13 and 9. Any more to share today?

For Christmas, all my nearly 12 yo has asked for is a mechanical pencil. He’s asked a couple of times to make sure I’ve heard 🥰

ReignOfError · 04/12/2024 10:41

This is a lovely thread.

My (now 45 year old) son recently drove a 90 mile round trip to change a tyre for me, so I wouldn’t have to wait three hours for a breakdown service. (Couldn’t do it myself, as I was recovering from a hip replacement).

TeenToTwenties · 04/12/2024 10:42

When you get an email from college saying how lovely they are (happened yesterday) Grin

BearSoFair · 04/12/2024 10:43

They still all pile into one of their bedrooms on Christmas morning to open stockings - now aged 22, 17, 15! Warms my heart to see how close they still are even as they grow up.

DS1 offering and taking MIL to her hospital appointments (1 or 2 a month), never expected or asked it of him but his shifts can be a lot more flexible than DH's and he's the only driver in the family.

DD aged about 10 using her pocket money to buy a Superman mug for my Dad who was in and out of hospital - "because whatever happens Grandad you always keep smiling and that makes you a superhero"

DS2 who will do anything to help animals - most memorably fishing a bee out of a fridge in the supermarket (no idea how it got in there!) and mixing up some sugar solution, he sat on the kerb watching it for a good 5 -10 minutes until it was ok to fly away!

My 4 year old ds draws me a picture of a rainbow and hearts every day at school as he says rainbows make me happy and the hearts because he loves me so much and on Fridays he always puts a chip from his school dinner in his pocket for me to try as they are so good and I don't get to have them for lunch on Fridays.

JingleB · 04/12/2024 10:45

When they send cheerful messages and texts during the day to their brother or sister in bed with a cold, because they love them and want to cheer them up.

I’ve been unwell this week and my 18 month old keeps toddling over to me lying on the sofa and stroking my arm and offering me her half chewed snacks. It’s very sweet.

The chip!! Bless his heart 😍

That is so lovely. What a kind and thoughtful boy.

This week my 14yo ds unpacked our 8ft Christmas tree, assembled it, fluffed it and plugged it in without me asking him tooXmas Smile

yoddle · 04/12/2024 10:57

These are lovely. My 13 year old is a sibling to an autistic brother. He is the kindest, nicest boy you could meet. He's volunteering in a school for Duke of Edinburgh at the moment and tells me about the little kids that remind him of his brother and how he looks out for them.

elQuintoConyo · 04/12/2024 11:05

13yo has included in his Christmas list:

Fancy dog biscuits
Lovely family Christmas love
😍

Above fancy chocolates and gaming computer!

He's a big food sharer and fantastic to animals. If only he could crawl out from under his Emo cloud of doom more often!

Emmacb82 · 04/12/2024 11:05

I work night shifts and one night I got to work and found a little note from ds8 saying mummy I love you. He started having packed lunch at school that year and every so often I would put a little note in it so he did one for me, was so sweet and got me through that shift!

TheMaskedSingSong · 04/12/2024 11:07

When you're walking on the road to allow them to walk on a narrow pavement and they pull you up onto the pavement to walk behind them because they dont want anything to happen to you. DD did this yesterday, love her so much x

Beamur · 04/12/2024 11:07

My DD is autistic and expressing empathy is not her strong suit. But she is very affectionate and yesterday just spontaneously came up to me, gave me a hug and said she loved me.
But the girl I wanted to mention I do some volunteering alongside, she's 15 but I have known her since she was about 6. She is just the loveliest kid. She's always thoughtful and funny and kind. We did secret Santa and I offered her one of the spare gifts so she could join in with the younger girls and afterwards she came up to me to say thank you. It's little things like that. I know her parents a little and always tell them how fab their DD is..

Kneeslikethese · 04/12/2024 11:09

They are each other's cheerleaders.
Dd16 comes to ds15's gigs (he's in a band) and bought one of their teeshirts out of her own money to wear.
Ds15 insists on going to dds Christmas show, she's in the choir, even though it's not his sort of thing at all.

YonderTweek · 04/12/2024 11:10

I've recently started learning to play Minecraft and I'm hilariously bad at it. Started a survival mode game with DC and noticed that they had left a little chest in the game with the basic stuff in it for me to find. So now I had an iron sword, axe and a pickaxe, and some bread to get me started. It was so sweet because otherwise it would take me ages to find all the ingredients and craft the items myself. 😅

Bounty9 · 04/12/2024 11:12

Mines only 2 but when she comes up to me completely unprompted and says ‘I love you mama’ it makes me cry every time 😂

LittleTwiggy · 04/12/2024 11:13

This thread is lovely

Mine is when I bumped my knee on a door recently and instantly forgot about it, then out of nowhere my 2YO grabs my knee and I thought she’s just being clingy, until she kisses my knee to ‘make it better’. It was so sweet.

Spangers · 04/12/2024 11:16

These are adorable!

My 4 year old told me she’s so thankful for all the lovely meals I make her as I’m a such good cook*

*she only eats spag bol, sausages and mash, plain boiled rice or toast which is an endless source of stress for me but still it’s a lovely sentiment.

RaraRachael · 04/12/2024 11:16

My grown up daughter with a toddler and number 2 on the way said she really liked her childhood and the way I brought them up and will try to do the same for her children.

doodleygirl · 04/12/2024 11:17

My DD is now an adult, we are very close. When she first went to Uni we would either text or talk most days. The first weekend home she bought a massive bunch of flowers with a note saying thank you for being you, every time I have a bad day I look at my note.

She is now the most awesome adult and a new mum,

Umbellifer · 04/12/2024 11:22

My DS9 now puts his arm round me to cuddle me just because he wants to...and more than once when I have fallen asleep on the sofa (I'm a worn-out single mum atm) I wake up to discover he's given me one of his teddies and covered me with his favourite blanket.

If, somehow, he can stay this beautiful soul, I will feel I've done a good job with him.

ItchyChicken · 04/12/2024 11:23

When your 9 yr old DD leaves post it notes hidden inside your laptop saying she loves you on the day she goes to Dad's house.
