We might put the outside tree lights up if it stops raining but think indoors will have to be next weekend.

Nope- we have a real tree which sits in a room with a log fire. If we put it up now it would be nothing more than a dead twig with a pile of pine needles underneath by the 25th!
Ours usually goes up the weekend before Christmas and down on 12th night

The same for me, the tree is quite close to the fire, nowhere else really works, so the weekend before Christmas is the earliest I’ll do it.

Can be hard to find real trees left then but do sometimes get a bargain. 😆🎄

We are - my No 1 Helper (adult dc) will be here in about an hour, and I've just got all the stuff down from the loft. Our artificial tree that's about 15 and still going as strong as ever, but doesn't half take ages to fluff up.

Well the rain that was forecast for only a couple of hours this morning has not stopped, in fact has got heavier so no decs outdoors today.
We've all given the whole house a thorough pre Christmas clean though so that feels good <smug face>
Bring on the festivities! 🎄 🌟☃️🎁✨️🎊

Tree is up, lights are on, just need DD to get her arse in gear then we'll decorate Smile It's a 7ft real one- the base is weighted with water which also keeps the tree going.
Have also been out to the garden for greenery and about to make the wreath.
Then I need to put decorations round the house.
Tomorrow DH is charged with putting up the red berry lights in the bush and the giant baubles on the tree outside Grin

Yep ours is up (real one we picked up and quite small but it’s lovely)

We , well my lovely husband , put ours up 10 days when my daughter and I were away for a couple of days . We lost our lovely dog very suddenly at the start of November and he was trying to cheer us all up a bit . He did my sisters outside and indoor decorations this weekend . He made a really good job of our trees (3) so we’ve decided he can do this every year , I love my Christmas trees .

Meee🤚 we went yesterday and picked out our tree. A beautiful Noble fir. I prefer a Douglas fir but was out voted. It's currently sitting bare in the garage waiting to be decorated. I have to run out and get some tinsel. I saw a tip yrs ago. If you put tinsel on 1st and push it right back on the branches so you can't even really see it. The lights kind of bounce off it, giving a beautiful glow. It's a game changer.

We did the outside lights yesterday and I planted some red cyclamens and ivy in planters outside the front door which looks nice.

Today we got the boxes of decorations down from the loft. We have a lot and I’m feeling overwhelmed. It’s all my own fault as I keep buying more every year.

not doing the trees today but will do one tomorrow I think. I’ve started doing some of the other bits around the house.

LoobyDoop2 · 01/12/2024 16:01

No, we have a real tree and I want it to still look good at Christmas, so we’re waiting for a couple of weeks. Also, I love Christmas, but I’m already sick of back to back Christmas music on the radio. It’s spoiling it, having it so full-on so early.

Peridot1 · 01/12/2024 16:01

Some of the boxes! There’s a couple more in the garage.

Set the tree up Friday, just to fluff up the branches (fake tree with lots of branches) and just starting to put on the 1000 lights. I have decided to try putting them on in a different way, going up and down the tree and going from front to back of each branch as I go. I have marked at every 100 light so I can keep an eye on how much I have for each section (I have divided it up into sections).

We shall see if I should have stuck to my previous method...
