3 weeks, sorry OP.

if it makes you feel better I will spend most of the third week working from home for no extra pay. But the first two weeks are off.

Social media manager. I have two manic weeks that I will use to schedule all the posts over Christmas and New year and it will look after itself.

BarryKentPoet · 30/11/2024 21:39

Yes, 20th Dec until 6th Jan.

RandomUsernameHere · 30/11/2024 21:40

I get all bank holidays off, so 25th, 26th and 1st, then taking 23rd and 24th as annual leave.

Yes, 20th Dec until 6th Jan.

Just perfect. It must be so nice getting free days before Christmas to prepare then afterwards to enjoy the kids and see family!

just xmas day. I work in kennels but have kiddos so have booked xmas day off with them, back to work Boxing Day

Dotto · 30/11/2024 21:45

Just the bank holidays. Local gov payments.

Cassandras · 30/11/2024 21:58

Got made redundant and my last day is next week 😭

so the whole festive period and probably the whole of January too (frantically job hunting!)

I feel really sad but am trying to make myself enjoy the time off work! Not sure how

Spagettifunctional · 30/11/2024 22:00

Two weeks (teacher)

Nail123 · 30/11/2024 22:05

Finish on the 20th and go back on the 2nd

livanlaterlaterlater · 30/11/2024 22:10

Am working boxing day 12 hour shift..so early bedtime Christmas day without any fizz 😩.working New Year day 12hours so a sober NYE ..absolutely sucks TBH 😳

Gingernaut · 30/11/2024 22:14

Christmas Day
Boxing Day
New Year's Day

Scrimt · 30/11/2024 22:16

christmas works well for me as once I count up the public holidays and bonus half days given by my employer I only need to take 5 days annual leave for a fortnight's break.

JennieTheZebra · 30/11/2024 22:21

@livanlaterlaterlater that off duty is nasty! Sympathies for the 12 hour shifts too. I’m working a long day on NYE but have the rest of Christmas off. Hope your rota is better next year.

Orangebadger · 30/11/2024 22:26

Nurse and I have worked many Christmases, more recently have opted for New Year's Eve instead but seemed to frequently do Xmas eve night shifts!

Different job now so we don't work bank holidays so a bonus to not have to cover Xmas day and Boxing Day. This year I managed to get annual leave for 2 weeks! Looking forward to it.

knackered101 · 30/11/2024 22:26

I'm working Christmas Eve and New Year's Day, Boxing Day and New Year's Eve off. I'll probably have to work a couple of the days in between. I'm in retail too, I hate the fact that people come shopping on Boxing Day.

Possibly a silly question but why do you have to have sober Christmas Day and NYE if you're working the next day?

Obviously you can't get absolutely bladdered but I don't see why you couldn't have a glass of fizz with Christmas lunch or a tipple of port with pudding - it's not like a couple of glasses takes 12 hours to wear off?

I can see it's totally crap you have to think about it all though!

cheapskatemum · 30/11/2024 22:41

Don't think I'll make you jealous, OP. I'm working from 2pm till 9.30pm Christmas Day, sleeping at work & back on shift 6.30am -2pm Boxing Day. Usual shifts 27th-31st December, which means I just happen to have the weekend off. Tuesday is my day off, so I do have Christmas Eve & New Year's Eve off, but then I've been given the early shift on New Year's Day to do, so will have to be up at 5.30am to be at work & ready to start at 7am. Can't take annual leave at "busy times", ie Christmas & New Year. I'm a support worker in a children's home.

leia24 · 30/11/2024 22:43

I'll be off 24th to 31st, working 1st as overtime, then back in 6th

EmeraldDreams73 · 30/11/2024 22:47

Xmas to New Year week is the only time I take off work all year and I can't bloody wait! I'll be off from 23rd to 2nd hopefully.
Self-employed, not a workaholic, just need the money. Something always crops up to cost even more, just when I think I could take a week off. So it never happens.

I'll spend Christmas week visiting elderly parents/wider family a few hours away, and hopefully seeing the kids as much as possible. Hope you're able to have a break some time soon.
