Very rarely am I near a big Waitrose anything worth buying?

I read on here the chicken is the best out of the supermarkets. I think I’ll do a chicken pasta tonight. I’m on the bus so won’t beable to carry much. Is there anything you would treat yourself with or is it all much of a muchness.

Findlaters chicken liver pate, expensive but the best pate I've ever tasted

GodRestYouMerryGentlewench · 27/11/2024 13:35

Completely forgot the Brown Butter Mince Pies with Cognac.

I’d given up on supermarket mince pies years and years ago - but these. On repeat Deliveroo delivery even before December (official mince pie eating month here). Truly scrumptious.

This thread is making me reconsider not migrating from Ocado to Waitrose. It’s just the faff. And less choice. And not delivering in bags. And … 🤷‍♀️🤷‍♀️🤷‍♀️

They do these amazing cinnamon knots for Christmas, they melt in the mouth!

20p(!) less in the Co Op but both very delicious!

CharlotteLucas3 · 27/11/2024 13:37

I like their glycerine soap bars and their own brand dark chocolate is quite good value. I have found that they unnecessarily add wheat flour to their own brand ready meals which is a bit frustrating. Sorry - that's not what you asked!

LozzaChops101 · 27/11/2024 13:38

Their celeriac remoulade is my main reason to go! Could make it but who wants to shred a celeriac 😅

ManyATrueWord · 27/11/2024 13:45

Honey mustard. Love that stuff.

Chocolate. Their dark Belgian chocolate is 50% cocoa and perfect for ganache.

Oliack1417 · 27/11/2024 13:59

I came on to say the findlaters pate too! And the olive oil crisps.

Alltheprettyseahorses · 27/11/2024 14:05

Lavender shortbread
Olive rolls from the bakery
DD loves their cheese and tomato croissant sandwiches, I've only ever seen those at King's Cross but they may be a regular thing across all stores.

DancingLions · 27/11/2024 14:19

You've probably already been by now, but No1 chocolate éclairs! Pricey but heavenly.

QueenofallIsee · 27/11/2024 14:27

Balsamic pearls
Potted Shrimp
Any of their wholemeal/stoneground bakery breads

MaryGreenhill · 27/11/2024 14:30

Their brown butter mince pies are to die for 😋🤤

LindorDoubleChoc · 27/11/2024 14:36

Their mozarella stuffed meatballs in tomato sauce is the best ready to cook meal I've ever eaten. You must love garlic though!

EachandEveryone · 27/11/2024 14:36

15 for the bag I’m in there now

No 1 Greek yoghurt and Alesis Filo & Spinach pie from the frozen section

GettingStuffed · 27/11/2024 14:41

Crab pate, the wholemeal bread ( in sliced) is gorgeous. Their own brand salted peanuts are the best I've had.

Movinghouseatlast · 27/11/2024 15:19

No 1 milk chocolate with feuilletine and sea satisfaction amazing.

clary · 27/11/2024 15:20

I love the cheese and onion crisps (in a big orange bag). Hands down my fave C&O crisps.

LilacLilyBird · 27/11/2024 15:21

Cottagecheeseisnotcheese · 27/11/2024 13:18

My DD says their own brand salt and. Vinegar crisps are better than walkers £1.25 for 6 bags x

Good to know

LilacLilyBird · 27/11/2024 15:24

They stock a sticky toffee pudding we love and can only get there

Their pesto we like

Their fatter rice noodles

I stock up on all of these plus they have a fabulous condiments section

Also we love their cottage cheese more than anywhere else

TheMousePipes · 27/11/2024 15:39

The florentines in the no.1 range. SO good.

mumda · 27/11/2024 15:39

Tempted by the nudja and frozen soffito I have set up an online account.

Foy19 · 27/11/2024 15:43

No.1 Santa Domingo Chocolate Ice Cream.

Own brand shower gel and toiletries.

Smoked salmon parcels.

Panettone - they do several flavours in mini and regular size.

Also their fresh fruit and veg is probably the best of all the supermarkets. On a par with M&S.

Bivvy · 27/11/2024 15:57

Davidstow vintage cheddar- proper crumbly cheddar absolutely gorgeous

bale from frozen croissants

essential flapjack bars

filo spinach pie

Their posh sardines....OMG they are good. I was gutted when I moved away from Waitrose.

Amen to these! I also like plain sardine fillets in olive oil. Both types sell out very quickly at my branch of Waitrose so we are obviously not their only fans.

Other favourites are:
packs of lightly dusted fresh plaice fillets
Chicken pies
Own brand chocolates
Lemon & raisin Danishes

EachandEveryone · 27/11/2024 16:11

I got one of everything but no shortbread in stock☹️ or those cinnamon twirls.
