This is mine. I had a gold pleather jacket and matching mini skirt with a kind of white strechy tank top underneath with more gold on it in a kind of leopard print arrangement. I wore it with a white stetson hat with a gold trim and various shoe options.

I looked like this only my skirt was shorter and I am more ginger. I got it from Red or Dead in Dean Street, Manchester. It was for sphisticated evening wear. It was a different time!

As a teen i'd wear a teeny black denim mini, ripped fishnets, a lot of chains round my hips, a t shirt with a grumpy slogan on it and a vintage mens suit jacket (as a coat). I roamed the streets of central London never smiling and looking very cool 😃

Late 20s i had a specific pair of skin tight white jeans and pair of really high white block heel sandals, teemed with a cropped bronze/gold crochet top with quite big holes. I had the pick of the blokes in the clubs in that outfit. .... those were the days!

(that crochet top - I'd wear a really good smooth flesh coloured bra under it and it was amusing to notice folks (of both sexes) trying to work out if i was naked under the top without me noticing 😂)

Late 30s it was all about the low looooow rise jeans and a specific little pale pink t shirt which always did well for me - pulled DH in it actually 😊

I adored my shaggy perm in the 1980s.

If I see TV footage from those times, whenever I see a girl with a big perm I think, "ooh, lovely hair!"

Mini dress over jeans with heels. I would wear it to uni circa 2006-2008. Absolutely cringe now!

Titsywoo · 26/11/2024 21:56

Black flared leggings, tiny white crop vest and brown velvet blazer (which I got from a jumble sale and probably belonged to an 80 year old man) with very chunky platform black boots. I was bloody gorgeous (at 16) but nowadays would look ridiculous I 'm sure.

OliviaRodrighost · 26/11/2024 21:57

When I was a very slim and gorgeous (but didn’t know it) 16-year old circa 2001 I desperately wanted to be Britney in the Stronger video.

I wore a one-shouldered asymmetrically cropped black glittery long-sleeved top and matching lowrise black glittery flared trousers with black glittery Skechers.

I got my first kiss that night off a guy in the year above. One More Time by Daft Punk was playing. I was drunk on Bacardi Breezers.

PrincessHoneysuckle · 26/11/2024 21:58

A denim look short bodycon dress from Jane Norman 2007ish.
I was thin and fucking gorgeous

cryinglaughing · 26/11/2024 21:59

I had a very short red tartan mini skirt that I wore with black funky tights, some Red or Dead high heeled shoes and a black, skin tight top that laced up.

I was stood outside a restaurant one night and a guy came out to tell me that he and his girlfriend thought I looked great 😃, I thanked him, gave her a wave and went on my way.
Made my day it did 😊

NearlyXmasTime · 26/11/2024 22:00

In the 80’s I had a white leather jacket (Sharon Watts had the same one), a tiny white leather mini skirt and baby pink pixie boots. I’d wear it with a matching pink Benetton t shirt.

SuperfluousHen · 26/11/2024 22:09

Red tartan oxford bags (trousers) with a white silk shirt and red tank top worn with very high white shiny plastic platform boots. (mid - 70s)
think ABBA Waterloo …

afaloren · 26/11/2024 22:09

Around 16 I had a skin-tight black and white minidress with three zips across the boobs. I wore it with fishnets, huge boots and a battered leather jacket. Never failed me!

thatsawhopperthatlemon · 26/11/2024 22:22

I had purple hot pants in the early 70's, and no I don't have any photos I would care to share with you.😂

Tiedyesquad · 26/11/2024 22:25

I had a very very short suede miniskirt which I wore with my best mate's 70s vintage shirt with a zip down the front and silver chunky boots. I might have to name change now because she'll definitely know it's me.

IceStationZebra · 26/11/2024 22:32

At 19-20, an average weekday outfit for me as a student would be: battered converse hi-tops, neon pink tights with black and white striped Japanese-style legwarmers, black denim shorts, a tight t shirt with the logo of some random emo band, and a white Bench zip-up top with grubby sleeves and thumbholes.

I still have the legwarmers.

I did that one. It didn't really translate in Southern Europe. Everybody kept asking me if I was pregnant.

We’re the same age & I can picture this whole thing!

FatLarrysBanned · 26/11/2024 22:54

Circa 1993 aged 18 a night out on the town would be glossy tights with a very short mini silver jacquard print skirt and a corset top with an embroidered floral pattern on it.

I must have looked like the tin man but I felt great. Flat stomach and perky breasts that didn't need structural engineering to support them, those were the days. I can't for the life of me remember what shoes I wore, probably something clumpy.

You remind me - I still have one of my old belts!
Bought new in Kensington market in about '83. A lovely thick heavy wide woven soft black leather, with silver studs. Big silver 3 prong buckle. Would cost a fortune now.

I found it a few months back and could see that back in the day I had had to make new holes in the leather for the buckle to make it tight enough to stay on my hips, 'cos i was so slim and delicate.

I tried it on. It still fits round my hips 😃
straining on it's very very loosest hole 😂

Tel12 · 27/11/2024 08:22

I had a cream jumpsuit with cerise flowers and leaves swirling. Would have been in the 80s. Luckily no photographic evidence survives!

AuntyEntropy · 27/11/2024 08:29

The outfit I wore which got me the most male attention (unsolicited but not too creepy) was a thick grey bodysuit with full sleeves and high polo neck, worn over cut off grey jeans with grey wool tights underneath. I was slim with small boobs, but I always looked like that, and bizarrely it was that unpromising sounding outfit which was catnip for men. Obviously I thought it looked good, otherwise I wouldn't have worn it, but it very much wasn't a "pulling" outfit.

Likewise my sort-of-boss would reliably always make a pass at me when I wore a particular shortish high neck grey linen tunic dress from Laura Ashley of all places. Lovely dress, but not obviously sexy. (It was the nineties and fortunately I was never put in a position where I felt threatened or pressured, his workplace behaviour was all over the shop but he always took no for an answer immediately. )

Aside from the vagaries of the male libido, I had a pair of leggings from Boy London, which I wore with a huge white men's shirt over them, belted at the waist. Much of what I wore in the 80s was absolutely shocking, but I still think that was a good look.

1997 and I see a purple velour leopard print slip nightie in the nightwear section of miss selfridge. Probably cost very little. There was very little of it. Perfect for a night out I think! Worn with silver platform mules. I looked pretty fine.

Buggabootwo · 27/11/2024 08:50

Red tartan trousers, a low cut black body with lace panels, patent black DMs. I was a size 6/8 with abs that you could bounce coins off and perky E cup tits. I must have looked like the boots were to stop me tipping over.

Tragically I am now a size 18, the boobs are still impressive but only when they are held up by a miracle of modern engineering and my abs are a distant and forlorn memory. Still wear the docs though!

DoreenonTill8 · 27/11/2024 08:52

This butterfly top worn with huge baggy jeans and buffalo trainers...
The elastic straps would make me look like a joint of gammon now!

I had a Lady Di style feather cut and a sea green shot silk ball gown I made, for Uni balls in the 80s.
I didn't flutter my eyelashes through my fringe though.

AnchorWHAT · 27/11/2024 10:34

Bought a mid length leopard print dress in a sale in a cut price shop, took it home where my mum shortened it into a mini, i used the cut off bit to make a bag, a headband and to cover the front of a pair of mules, teamed with a gold upper arm bracelet, gold earrings and belt and gold makeup, thought i was the bees knees. Got me lots of attention at the time (80’s) but i must have looked like Jane of the jungle 😂
