He's driving over on Wed. I am writing a list. Xmas crackers, cream crackers/biscuits for cheese, Wheat Crunchies, naice stuffing....It's likely to be the big Tesco he will go to.

No meat or dairy allowed in these post Brexshit years unfortunately, though last time we went I smuggled a crackling pork joint and some scotch eggs in my case. 😚

Crumpets!!!!

TheLeadbetterLife · 25/11/2024 23:03

I'm going to the UK in a couple of weeks, and bringing back:
cranberry sauce
marmalade
Guilbert's chocolates
Turkish delight
smoked salmon
cheap co-codamol
yellow dusters (fuck microfibre)

AnotherEmma · 25/11/2024 23:06

Cranberry sauce 👍
i only eat it at Christmas but it wouldn't be Christmas without it Grin

M&S chocolate covered pecans and chocolate covered pistachios.

Peachy2005 · 25/11/2024 23:12

Had to google M&S Merry Munch as never heard of it…it’s made in the Netherlands apparently 😀

Renamed · 25/11/2024 23:14

How is Belgium for spices? I might be inclined to get cumin, turmeric, coriander, chillis, fenugreek, garam masala, cinnamon sticks, caraway, etc - but from an Asian or Middle Eastern shop not Tescos.

ThatAgileGoldMoose · 25/11/2024 23:17

Tuc crackers
Percy pigs (any bp/m&s petrol station)

AllIWantForChristmasIsPoo · 25/11/2024 23:17

Aldi -gingerbread mulled wine.

marks and spencers- Colin the caterpillar cake, maybe some Percy Pigs. Cookies and cream chocolate spread.

Scottish oatcakes (not English, but I don't care. The M and S ones are the best)

I was going to say Carbonel hot chocolate from Fortnum and Mason but as you're in Belgium that's a bit like sending coals to the Toon.

averylongtimeago · 25/11/2024 23:22

In France the things I can't get are
Marmite
Golden syrup
Black treacle
Suet
Gravy granules/ powder
Spices for curry
Yorkshire tea
Bacon
Proper pork pie
Spicy crisps
Worcestershire sauce
Henderson's relish
English mustard powder
Mint sauce
Cranberry sauce

You could leave out the bacon if you're worried about the rules.

If he's driving he is extremely unlikely to be stopped and searched for rogue meat Grin (IME). We got stopped for a random check and nobody even glanced at my Sainsbury's carrier bag full of sausage rolls and pasties in the front seat. They just wanted to check our boot - for people, DH thought Sad

We always need Christmas pudding, mince pies, Birds' instant custard, Lemsip, calpol, DS likes the "retro" sweets that include things like Drumstick lollies, supermarket underwear (whyyyyy is underwear so weirdly expensive?) Oooh yes Branston pickle is great too.

BertieBotts · 25/11/2024 23:23

Oh yes proper English tea and bisto we always get too.

AnnaDelvorkina · 25/11/2024 23:25

Bisto?

I would try to get Stilton despite the ban.

Whenwherewhy · 25/11/2024 23:26

I seem to remember there are several "English" food shops around Brussels.

GiveMeVodkaPlease · 25/11/2024 23:26

Scampi fries

StormingNorman · 25/11/2024 23:32

Yorkshire tea
Ginger Nuts
Bisto gravy
Marmite
Baked Beans
Coleman’s mustard
Wotsits
Pickled onions
Curly Wurlys and Wispas

AdviceNeeded2024 · 25/11/2024 23:54

Paxo have bought out a limited edition pork sausage meat stuffing for Christmas 😋

For me it would have to be lots of tea bags, horseradish, English mustard, HP Brown sauce, Bisto gravy, pickled eggs, pickled onions, piccalilli, munchies chocolates, pickled onion monster munch, squares crisps, Hob Nobs biscuits.

I’d have to sneak some cheese as well, Wensleydale, Lancashire, Cheshire, Stilton…

caringcarer · 26/11/2024 01:00

Maltesers. Lots of boxes of Maltesers.

Peachy2005 · 26/11/2024 09:45

Just got the Merry Munch: there’s a refill bag for £6.50, versus £10 for the tin, same quantity, if you don’t need the tin for a gift.

Summervibes24 · 26/11/2024 10:06

English breakfast tea
Baileys -even though you can buy abroad there are some good offers around right now
M&S cranberry sauce
Gravy granules
M&S Tiffin bites
Christmas crackers (if they don't do them in Belgium)
Christmas cake
Hobnobs

Peachy2005 · 26/11/2024 10:10

Which are the good M&S tortilla chips? There were so many flavours, is it just the salted ones?

NOTcentreparcsandNOTatrifle · 26/11/2024 10:25

M&S chocolate covered custard creams.

More than one packet as there are only 6(?) in each.

KnopkaPixie · 26/11/2024 10:56

Nobody's said Jelly Babies yet. Much better than Haribo.
Only one other mention of mint sauce.

MissAmbrosia · 26/11/2024 12:23

Ooh loads of brilliant ideas! Yes - there is a "British" supermarket - but mostly selling Irish cheese and bacon now, which is fine. It's very expensive though and has limited choice.

Has he got time for a Boots run? I always craved something between Di and Ici Paris XL. I’d be giving him a big list for Boots!

DownThePubWithStevieNicks · 26/11/2024 12:31

Oh, and bottles of squash! Those tins of syrup are an abomination.
