Good Morning Everyone! What's everyone up to today?

I'm just drinking my first cuppa & watching the rain Storm Bert has brought, from my kitchen spot. Very grey & miserable out there.

I'm supposed to be taking dd2 to the local shopping outlet today, for the make up shop and stocking fillers for my dad, but think I'm going to see if town will do instead. There's a shop I think will have the things she wants. That's obviously assuming the buses continue to run alright.

Dd1 had plans for a loooong sleep, last night, then organising her college folders today, ready for starting new content in English Lit this coming week. She's also been given more of a share of things to do around the house, since she's almost 18, so has that to do.

Tonight it's leftover Chinese takeaway 😋, accompanied by a glass or two of wine for me. Then showers all round & a couple of hours crocheting the church for my village for me. I'll stick Food Network or similar on in the background. I want to get it done fairly quickly so I can crochet a stocking for my dad (only if there's time though!).

What about all of you?🙂

Morning all, I hope the poorly people feel much better soon.

Slow morning here, I was up early watching the snow, though it’s now turned to slush. DD’s gym class has been cancelled so she’s reading, DS has done his homework and is now on his computer. I’ve done some cleaning and might wrap some Christmas presents this afternoon - I’m quite organised with them this year!

Pizzas for tea then the Jungle and wine later. Have a good day everyone!

Morning all,

Lovely to see the thread this morning. I'm on TV watching Saturday kitchen as a usual and scrolling through MN.

DC has gone to play football. After lunch we will go to a shopping mall to buy some Christmas stuff and use my JL free coffee.

Have a good weekend all!

IveGotToGoToMeDads · 23/11/2024 11:05

Good morning everyone.
Woke up at 8am had coffee, took the dogs out for 1 hours walk. Had a scary moment on some ice because the road has not been gritted and I lost control of the car and it spun, managed to get control and not end up crashing down into the forrest. Dogs & me were a little shook up.
Back home made a cup of tea and some chocolate orange rice crispy cakes for later. Really wanted to go to mcdonald's for a terrys chocolate orange pie and a cup of tea but weather is bad, dull, grey and rainy, so i'm stopping in and waiting for a man to come and give me a quote for garden fencing as the fence up at the minute has seen better days.
cottage pie for tea and deep cleaning dining room today.

Shergill15 · 23/11/2024 11:07

Morning @lucysmam and all. Get well wishes to all of you who are poorly. Enjoyed a lie in and some coffee and pastries. DD will have a chilled morning whilst I try and find the motivation to get tidied and cleaned up, so we're ready to put Christmas decorations up next weekend.

Late afternoon/early evening we're meant to be heading to our first Christmassy/see Santa thing - reindeer lodge. They cancelled some for the snow (some irony there!) so hoping Storm Bert doesn't put paid to our visit. Well, for DD's sake anyway, I'd quite happily hunker down with a blanket, wine and Strictly.

Can also recommend Cross on Prime for anyone looking for something to watch

crackofdoom · 23/11/2024 11:17

Morning! Currently enjoying fresh homemade bread for breakfast, with poached eggs. I was quite proud of myself for not eating too much for once, but then DS2 left half of his, so I wolfed that down too 😳
This afternoon we will go and watch the Bickford Smith Institute get battered by the waves another degree towards its inevitable collapse, and might even have some unseasonal ice cream too.
This evening DS1 is babysitting while I meet BF for dinner, drinks and an interesting sounding gig.
Before any of this occurs I imagine that some half hearted housework will be performed.

OneLilacEagle · 23/11/2024 11:49

Morning all! Quiet one here as the weather is terrible and we've been play pass the virus parcel for what feels like months! Ds is upstairs playing games on his kindle whilst cuddling with the kittens, DH is getting the week's shopping and I am ticking things off the to do list. We're supposed to be going to some festive events later but don't know if we'll be up to that or not. Homemade curry for dinner and a bit of cross stitch, I think. Plus wine, natch.

DilemmaDelilah · 23/11/2024 11:52

@AnnaDelvorkina can't you get your shopping delivered? I know some things are better chosen personally, but considering your circumstances at the moment I would have thought it sensible to get at least the basics and heavy things, plus some other things to tide you over the next few days.

Soccermumamir · 23/11/2024 11:53

I was supposed to be at a Xmas Market today with my mum, but the weather has put a dampener on that. So it will be a day in the warmth, watching Xmas movies and crafting instead. Gonna meet up next weekend instead.

I'm at a Xmas Market tomorrow with my friends as well. So hoping the weather calms down so we can go 🤷‍♀️

Binman · 23/11/2024 11:58

Woke up to lots of snow, we have quite a view so was lovely having breakfast watching it fall. We decided to stay home and won't be getting visitors as the roads are blocked. I've cleaned the upstairs DH cleaned downstairs and we're going to take the dog out. Batten down the hatches for the storm coming and then cozy up and watch films.

lollypopsforme · 23/11/2024 12:01

Got out of bed at 9 im now fully awake and going to binge on youtube all day.
And order food later.
Got no house work no one coming over so pjs and laptop all day.

gingercat02 · 23/11/2024 12:39

Was getting worried I couldn't find you @lucysmam it's my weekend morning tradition now 😃 although it isn't morning anymore
It's going to be an indoors day today as we are in the midst of Storm Bert.
I did venture out to Fitsteps this morning, DH is very hung over, so we have just watched F1 qualifying.
After lunch (home-made soup and tiger bread), I'm going to sort my wardrobes and drawers.
No thoughts on tea yet, strictly and a drama on telly I suppose this evening

teaandtoastwithmarmite · 23/11/2024 12:53

Afternoon! I have/had Covid and did go back to work yesterday for the morning but being lazy today and still in pjs 🫣. Been watching the boybands documentary and now going for a shower

Peridot1 · 23/11/2024 13:40

Afternoon @lucysmam and everyone. Spotted the thread earlier but decided to go and do something before settling down to read it. Am in midst of deep cleaning the house before we start putting Christmas decorations up next weekend so got a room done. Big tick!

I was up early as usual and had a few cups of tea. And made a smoothie for breakfast. I had fairly invasive dental surgery on Tuesday and am on a liquid diet for a week. So smoothies, blended soups, yoghurts and ice cream for me all week. No alcohol for too five days so haven’t even been able to have wine. That changes tomorrow!

I did some online Black Friday shopping for me. Stripped a bed and washed the mattress and pillow protectors. Deep cleaned that bedroom.

Have just had soup for lunch. Having a cuppa now and then am going to put three baskets of laundry away in DS’s room. With his help I hope.

This afternoon I’m going to read the Christmas Good Housekeeping and maybe watch a Christmas film. And read my book.

Healing vibes to those who need them.

Sheknowsaboutme · 23/11/2024 14:35

Were stuck in the house. Riad flooded and i cannot go left nor right.

so productive day of cleaning, sorting clothes and putting them on vinted. I actually love days like this as i feel i get things done.

rain easing a but but water nit leaving the riad. Hope its better by 5 as DS is working .

i was well prepared anyway. I have to living rurally. Tesco shop done after work yesterday.

thursday night it took me 2 hours to get home. Hail and snow so no one could get up the hill.

so weekend of productivity, eating, wine and a log fire!

FaceLikeACrackedScreen · 23/11/2024 14:42

Plans cancelled earlier here due to the snow. Mightily fed up as it wasn't forecast here and the only day I have free to visit my elderly parents for two weeks.

Spent the day reading and drinking tea with a bit of online xmas shopping. So far I have bought all of DC's gifts (expensive teenagers), plus my own 😂blown the budget I set for myself but never mind, I deserve it. I now need to tot up what I've bought for family over the last few months and fill in any gaps.

Snug tree going up later today🌲to combat the dreariness.

Hedjwitch · 23/11/2024 14:58

Made it into a very slushy Edinburgh and waiting for jetlagged DS to appear.
Shepherd's pie for tea. Our equivalent of killing the fatted calf whenever one of the dcs return home after a time away

Cosyweekend · 23/11/2024 16:16

Hope everyone who is poorly feels better soon! After a few very busy weeks and weekends we've got the only free weekend between now and January and the dreary weather works quite well for our sofa day. We slept in, DH made French toast for breakfast, then we retired to the sofa with coffee and the cat. At one point both DH and Dcat were snoozing on me. Take away later and maybe a Christmas film.

Elderflower14 · 23/11/2024 16:48

Afternoon all. Have had a day off work. Not done much. Watched the racing this afternoon and now watching Return To Paradise...
Strictly later on...

Eggsley · 23/11/2024 18:52

Evening all, only just got round to catching up with the thread.

We were up for DS2's football this morning, DH's football was rained off so he was pleased he could come and watch DS2. It was cold and the torrential rain was almost horizontal due to the wind. We were thoroughly soaked, so pleased to get home and dried off in the warm.

Had my hair done this afternoon, finished putting up the Christmas decoration (yes it's too early but I don't care!) and now making a roast for dinner. It should be ready in about 20 minutes and I'm so hungry. I'm try to stop eating junk in the week, eat in moderation at the weekends and increase my steps. So far so good but I only started on Monday.

DH is watching the football, DS1 is playing with the dog (another Labrador who doesn't like water from the sky) and DS2 is gaming. This evening will be Jungle and a glass of wine plus maybe some chocolate.

Hope the poorly ones are feeling better soon xx
