Good Morning Everyone! What's everyone up to today?

I'm just drinking my first cuppa & watching the rain Storm Bert has brought, from my kitchen spot. Very grey & miserable out there.

I'm supposed to be taking dd2 to the local shopping outlet today, for the make up shop and stocking fillers for my dad, but think I'm going to see if town will do instead. There's a shop I think will have the things she wants. That's obviously assuming the buses continue to run alright.

Dd1 had plans for a loooong sleep, last night, then organising her college folders today, ready for starting new content in English Lit this coming week. She's also been given more of a share of things to do around the house, since she's almost 18, so has that to do.

Tonight it's leftover Chinese takeaway 😋, accompanied by a glass or two of wine for me. Then showers all round & a couple of hours crocheting the church for my village for me. I'll stick Food Network or similar on in the background. I want to get it done fairly quickly so I can crochet a stocking for my dad (only if there's time though!).

What about all of you?🙂

PandaChopChop that’s a very unusual food combination!

It's come from an American relation (so not sure if its normal there!) but I can assure you it is fabulous 👌

Morning everyone! Tons of snow here and more is still falling. DS was supposed to have various music rehearsals but they have all been cancelled so we are looking forward to a quiet day at home.

DH is in the kitchen making bread ready for lunch and then he and DS will take the (very reluctant) dog for a walk in her Big Coat.

DS needs to record an audition video for an orchestra, so he will work on that this afternoon. He also has some bits of homework and more things for another school project to potter with.

I am in the middle of several good books, so will settle down under my heated throw with a cup of tea later.

Planning to watch at least one Christmas movie today as well since we are all unexpectedly at home all day. Quite looking forward to some additional relaxation.

Hedjwitch · 23/11/2024 09:25

Cosy in bed with General Jones...the cat...watching the snow blizzarding past the window. Supposed to pick DS up later from Edinburgh so hope the situation has improved by then.

frozendaisy · 23/11/2024 09:33

Morning all

Not feeling 100% couldn't face coffee, so have a tea and a lemsip see if any of them work.

Have to get searching online today for some birthday/Christmas stuff, think H is having a small gout flare up and we have a thousand things to do.

Guess we can just dose up and see.

Bought stuff to be fed and watered over weekend because of Bert so nothing urgent. Well nothing yet.

Hopefully the lemsip will kick in in half hour or so might put a gentle whodunnit on until then. Can't face reading.

Oh lord it's one of those days.

mondaytosunday · 23/11/2024 09:37

Probably mentioned this last week but with way DD at uni now I've taken to going to bed at 2-3am and waking up late (this morning at 8.20 only because the dog needed to go out).
I promised her a lovely walk in a National Trust park today but it's raining and she hates that even more than me! Hopefully we will get a break later on.
Plan was to go for walk then brunch and finish the crochet throw I'm making for DD and start my next project which is the placemats for the Christmas table. Then the usual household chores (so exciting). So I'll just flip it around a bit and force myself out once the rain has stopped. I've got leftovers from last night but probably have them sometime today and make something new for tonight. Hard to do much cooking when it's just for me! Started to watch Eddie Redmayne in The Day of the Jackal so that's the viewing for tonight.

Kim82 · 23/11/2024 09:44

Good morning everyone. For the first time in ages everybody in my house has a day off today. Me and dh were woken at 6.15am by two of the cats (we were not impressed) so have been up for a while but we’re being lazy and we’re still not dressed. Dd10 is awake and took one of the wrestling cats up to her bedroom with her and I can hear a guitar strumming upstairs so that means dd20 is also awake - she’s teaching herself how to play. Dd17 I’m assuming is still asleep.

We’ve just put the Tesco shop away and put dd10’s uniform into the washer and I’m now having a fourth cup of tea before getting myself moving and into the shower.

The plan for today is to drop dd10 off at my sister’s house around 12 for a sleepover as dh and I are away for the night for a friend’s birthday. We’re meeting my other sister and BIL for lunch at 1.30pm then meeting the rest of the group afterwards at the pub for a quick drink before we all jump on the train for our afternoon/evening out with dinner and no doubt lots of drinks!

Dd17 is off to a concert tonight in Manchester with her girlfriend and is staying out overnight and dd20 has one of her friends staying over to keep her company and they’ll probably get a takeaway I imagine and watch a film.

I really don’t fancy leaving the house in this horrible weather - it’s pouring down and windy - but I’m sure I’ll enjoy myself once I’m out.

Idratherbepaddleboarding · 23/11/2024 09:50

We’re doing the very unmumsnetty task of putting up the Christmas tree. I’ve been wanting to put the outside lights up for 2 weeks as they’re so welcoming when you come home in the dark but it’s rained every weekend 😡. DH promised we’d do them this weekend but now it’s so wet and windy, I think we’ll struggle. Tonight, we’re volunteering at an amateur dramatic show at our village hall (we’re part of the social committee not the drama group) which may be… interesting…

Idratherbepaddleboarding · 23/11/2024 09:53

Oh, I forgot DS(15). He needs to tidy his room if he wants to put his Christmas tree up then he’s working on a lesson he’s teaching at cadets as he’s hoping for a promotion and then DH and I will be his audience. I’m looking forward to seeing how he is with it!

Oh and the dog, he’ll probably look mournfully out the window, refuse to go out for a wee (despite being a Labrador and loving water when it’s not coming out of the sky). I’m sure he’ll “help” with the baubles too.

CoastalCalm · 23/11/2024 09:54

I think the plan is to get under our blankies and watch the last few episodes of Yellowstone then it’ll be football time at 3 for hubbie and nap time for me !

The weather is dreadful here in Northumberland !

rosao · 23/11/2024 09:57

Good Morning all.

A Storm Bert imposed cosy day at home for us, it's absolutely chucking it down. If I'm honest I don't really mind, we've had a busy/stressful week so it's nice to have the down time.

I'm just on my second coffee, I've done my housework jobs for the morning. The dc are happily gaming so I'm going to read some of my book.

This afternoon dc will decorate their Christmas tree and I've promised special hot chocolate and a Christmas film, probably Elf or Home Alone.

Xanadu58 · 23/11/2024 10:01

Well I had planned on doing some christmas shopping but I'm now covering an urgent shift at work instead so the shopping will have to wait until tomorrow .

daffodilandtulip · 23/11/2024 10:02

Morning everyone!

The storm woke me up a few times, and the spot that sometimes leaks in the conservatory that I pop a cloth under, didn't leak, but there was a few random spots under a bit that can't be leaking so I'm confused!

I've got a long awaited eye test today, definitely need new glasses and I think I need readers now too 👵🏻. Will pop into B&M for some stocking fillers on the way back as I've ordered most of my shopping online. Need an advent calendar for DS too - posted DDs to uni this week.

Then I think I'll be glad to get back and light a fire. Whippet dog won't tolerate a walk in this weather so she'll soon be curled in front of the fire.

We got pizza last night after a very busy week, so tonight will be a normal tea, maybe pasta and meatballs.

I'm out or on online meetings every night this week, and was for 4 nights last week so I'll be glad to do nothing this afternoon and evening!

EllisActon · 23/11/2024 10:06

I will be looking at my
garden through the window which is all I can do since my brain bleed

tometoyoutodo · 23/11/2024 10:09

Morning Everyone!

Storm Bert isn't too bad here (Surrey) just a little drizzle and some wind.

DH has taken x3DS's to their swimming lessons and I've just finished ironing the weeks school / work uniforms for all of us! He'll be gone for a while yet so I'm enjoying some silence and scrolling.

Housework mostly today whilst DCs play and DH WFH. Very rare night out for Me tonight with the School Mums, it's our Xmas get together and there's 18 of us in total so should be good fun! Heading into London for cocktails and dinner, hopefully the Trains aren't too affected.

Have a great day all!

CoastalCalm · 23/11/2024 10:12

So sorry to hear that hope you regain strength soon , stay nice and warm

Crunchymum · 23/11/2024 10:13

Been up since 3am - yes 3am - with DD1 who has been vomiting. Actually I wish she would do a massive puke as she clearly has a bug but we've spent from 3am - 9am with her dozing off, waking up feeling very nauseous, getting a little bit sick and repeat. Tummy hurts too.

She's finally let me move her from the bathroom floor to the sofa and she's had an hours sleep (and counting!)

So our weekend is cancelled.

We didn't have anything too hectic planned and the weather is crap so it could be worse.

Bathrooms have been deep cleaned, two lots of washing on and I've wiped down all those things I only ever really do when someone is ill (lights switches, remotes, devices, door handles.... I'm a recovering emetophobe so I have hospital grade cleaning stuff that kills Noro / C diff etc)

I was meant to be going out for dinner with a friend later but after my 3am wake up I won't be much company so I've reluctantly taken a rain check.

Hoping for an afternoon nap but I have 2 other DC and DP is at work until after 5pm! Maybe I'll just go to bed at 5pm? 😊

Judellie · 23/11/2024 10:23

Well, we've woken up to snow and it's still snowing - it might have JUST stopped.
DD is in the bath and she's working from 3 so I'll be taking her there. She finishes at 7 so I think we're all going to Werherspoons for tea.
The house is a tip so I need to do SOME tidying, which hopefully will include finding the car tax letter and dealing with that.
DS is still in bed but I need to get some stuff out of the loft in his room for DH who is still on crutches.
Trying to have a quiet morning tbh, not read through yet so hope everyone's ok xx

CharlotteStreetW1 · 23/11/2024 10:24

Morning all.

DH has gone to football (away) but I had to be up earlyish as a guy came to replace our bathroom flooring. He's done now.

I'm on my third cuppa and have just painted my nails.

I might go and do a big shop. I might set up the Firestick that was delivered this morning. I might do a wardrobe sort out. I might retire to the sofa with a book and plenty of tea.

Nice to have no real plans after a very busy few weeks 🙂

Have a lovely day everyone.

HelpMeGetThrough · 23/11/2024 10:25

I'm recovering from emergency surgery I had last week, so I won't be doing much. Time to change dressings later, that should be fun. Just building myself up to have a shower, takes an absolute age to do that at the moment.

I may just try a glass or two of red this afternoon, purely for medicinal purposes of course. 😁

Sourisblanche · 23/11/2024 10:28

Morning Lucysmam and everyone! I’m decluttering/cleaning downstairs today, I’m in the right mood for it. Dog is asleep and showing zero interest in a wet and windy walk. Ds football training still on this morning despite weather. So will drop him off soon.

Dd has a friend sleeping over so I won’t put the hoover on just yet! I have baked some frozen croissants for them when they surface.

Then the tree is going up. It’s early I know but I want to enjoy it as we are going away for part of Christmas as it will be the first one without my mum.

Thislittlekitten · 23/11/2024 10:29

Morning all.

Our plans this morning have been cancelled due to the weather so we are in bed drinking tea still and chilling out. DDog and DCat are refusing to go into the garden due to the rain and sleet.

I do need to go to town later so hoping it eases.

Take away planed for tonight and watching TV.

Jellycatspyjamas · 23/11/2024 10:31

We have snow, and it’s meant to keep snowing until the afternoon. DDog hasn’t seen snow before - he’s watching it from the window barking every now and again having refused to go out in it for his morning walk. No kids today so I’m drinking coffee with cream and catching up on tv. Might brave a snowy walk this afternoon if I can persuade the dog to go out. Will also make a start on Christmas shopping.

RabbitsRock · 23/11/2024 10:33

Sending get well wishes to all that need them. Crunchymum where do you get your cleaning stuff from please? 🙏

Wigtopia · 23/11/2024 10:34

Morning! today will be dog walk, Swedish Christmas market and making soup 🤩 possibly putting up a few fairy lights wrapped round the staircase as a phased approach to decorating for Christmas 🎄

twistyizzy · 23/11/2024 10:37

Walked 1 mile + back through 1 foot of snow at 6.30am to get to horse + exercise dog. Finally got home 8am, cleaned bathroom and oven and now waiting for snow to clear to do food shop.
Playing "guess which car will make it up the hill" outside our house as no grittera have been. Easy answer = none so now our single lane road is just clogged with abandoned cars 🙄
