How many teapots do you own?

My previous threads about teapots have been quite popular so wanted to continue with the topic as I have started to become addicted to this. Also it's been a heavy week and could do with some frivolous tea chats.
I have recently discovered (thanks to MN) that most tea lovers seem to use teapots on a regular basis, it never occurred to me that it would be the case! So I am now discovering the teapot world and it's a world of beauty, so much to choose from and would like to buy quite a few XD

How many do you own? What sizes, brand, color etc? Share your teapots collection with us and join the thread for a cosy Thursday tea chat.

@Ilikeanicecupofteainthemorning I have never seen those tea filters, are they easy to use and wash?

very easy to use, just put tea tea leaves in them!- you can then remove the whole thing when it reaches the strength you want, if you like

I don't actually wash it, it just gradually turns brown then almost black, its like the patina the inside of a tea pot has

if I'm going away for more than a day or so I rinse it out and hang it on the drainer to dry out

I figure it sits in recently boiled water all the time, its not a hygiene issue

2, a royal Worcester 8 cup and a Japanese 2 cup with infuser

Just 1. Denby Greenwich.

I am very wierd with my tea. I like it black and weak. Basically tainted hot water. Regular decaf teabags or loose leaf Assam in a silver dangly you put in the pot.

5
A large le creuset (tk maxx find)
A floral rose and carnation cath kidston one that came with a full teaset from PIL
A cream cath kidston hedge rose one that ds chose with a lovely mum mug for mother's day
A glass one that looked cool but I rarely use
One of those small ones where the pot sits inside a cup and saucer that does one large cup or two small ones, I use that when I'm WFH
I have a small cafetiere at work because we have a zip tap and it doesn't make good tea

DYIDIY · 23/11/2024 20:49

I need to check tk max for le creuset ones, I really like them but was readi by the lid is a bit wonky so don’t want to pay full price

I have two. A big jolly old fashioned brown one that was left in the first house we bought - that's the workhorse. And a small Japanese style pot with a tea leaf holder thing. My Mum and MIL have large tea pot collections that I am likely to inherit.

Oh decent Assam tea is lovely. I do brew it though. And rarely put milk in

Nottodaygoaway · 23/11/2024 21:45

Two. Both from ForLife. A one mug, and a two mug. The one mug pot has been going for about three years now. I used to use cheap teapots from Amazon but had a habit of dropping them. So I have a new record!

I do have my eye on an Emma Bridgewater though. It's on my Christmas list. If I get one I won't use-- it in case I drop it.--

DYIDIY · 24/11/2024 09:39

@Nottodaygoaway lots of votes for the forlife ones in my other thread.
Which EB one are you going to get?

If I could I'd collect them all!

I have a question that might sound silly but if I put loose tea in and then want to refill the cups and have some more, will I not end witht overly brewed tea? Isn’t it better to use an infuser or teabag for this reason?

Not a silly question at all and you’re right. The remaining tea leaves will continue to stew. You can add more water when you want another cup, to dilute it.

The argument against infusers is that the leaves are contained in a smaller area, so can’t roll around and develop, but you can take it out. Actually often, by the time you’ve poured your first cups, the water has gone down below the bottom of the infuser, so stops stewing anyway.

Tea bags of course don’t really allow the leaves to move around at all and are an abomination 😂

@Apolloneuro thank you!!!

I love my Emma Bridgewater. I've got a Christmas one and a summer one (dandelions/bees). I think I need a winter one for cosy January weekends when the Christmas one just looks silly.

Then I have a London Cath Kidston one which was a gift that I never use as it's drippy and it's huge, but it's pretty so I can't bear to get rid even though it matches nothing I own.
