Good Morning All! What are you all up to today?

I'm just drinking my first cuppa, in my kitchen spot. The kittens have hijacked the straw cleaning brush I keep in the dish drainer & are playing with that 🙄 and everyone else is asleep still 💤. The washer's on already, so the washing's done nice and early, but it's otherwise peaceful down here 😊

My only plans for today are to finish the last part of assembling the sausage dog this morning, upload a few more things to Vinted, and cook a roast gammon dinner later on. Otherwise, lots of gentle pottering is in order. I've just remembered - dd2 has one bag of homeless things in her room she wants help with, so probably sorting that too!

Both girls have homework to be done, so I expect they'll spend the day doing that, when they get up! Dd1 will have a good few hours to be done, and dd2 has been writing revision cards for herself as she goes so she'll likely do that too.

Tonight it's my usual Self-Care Sunday scrubby everything shower, and then I'll have another go at the church for my thread crochet village. Only the third (maybe fourth) year I'll have tried it 🤣

Early night tonight all round, ready for another week of school and work 💤

What about all of you? 🙂

I hope you have a peaceful weekend and sending you positive vibes and a big hug! x

Natsku · 17/11/2024 09:35

Supposed to be going to the circus with my children and their circus school but instead I'm ill so I'll just be dropping them off for the bus instead and stay home miserable :(

Not up to anything exciting. Doubt my mind, or body could cope with it right now. Head is in a bit of a fast moving whirlwind. Had brain surgery on Tuesday, in a specialist hospital for Neuro stuff, in Central London. Am in waiting limbo, to see if lump removed is Cancerous or not. My next outpatients is coming up on Thursday (21st)... Argh! Can't keep up with it all in my brain really at times. Oops! 😶‍🌫️😪 If only I could relax, and sleep until near then. That would be an absolute bonus for me, and would help me feel more able to muddle by/cope better. 🫣

Hoping you have a peaceful weekend. Sending you positive thoughts and a big hug! x

lollypopsforme · 17/11/2024 09:37

Simonjt · 17/11/2024 09:38

Good morning, our oldest wants to buy some lego with money he has saved up, so I’ll be taking the kids into town soon.

Once he’s got his lego we’re going to pick Papa up and go to a garden centre, we’ll probably have lunch there too. I need to repot a few houseplants so I want to get some new pots, it also means I need some new plants to go into the now too small pots.

Kim82 · 17/11/2024 09:39

Good morning everyone, I’m feeling a little delicate today after a too much wine as the Christmas film we watched last night evidently put me too much into the Christmas spirit!

Dd20 is at work and me, dh and dd10 are up and sprawled on the sofa under blankets and they’re watching one of the Harry Potter films.

Today we’re all going to chip in and clean the house top to bottom once dd17 is awake. I also need to put the electric blanket on our bed as it’s freezing and dd10 has asked for her fleecy covers on her bed too then it’s the usual Sunday uniform ironing and make sure all homework is done. I’m cooking a roast for tea then it’ll be showers and watching I’m a celebrity before bed.

I’d best get off my backside and strip my bed, make another cup of tea and hope this slight hangover disappears soon!

MessyNeate · 17/11/2024 09:39

Morning.

Feeling slightly better this morning. Hopefully I'm on the way up now!

I need to drop DS 1 to work at 11. And collect DS2's uniform and school bits from his dad on my way back, then wash it because his dads house has a certain not nice smell 🙈

I really should have a bit of a tidy up as well since I've been poorly for five days now and no one else has done anything!

DH is still away, 60 days and counting, we are actually looking for a few days away in the sun for January if anyone has any suggestions

Oganesson118 · 17/11/2024 09:41

I went to my mums last night for tea and to watch Strictly so I stayed over so I could have a couple of drinks. Got up to a cup of tea and sausage sandwich made for me then came home. Now sitting reading a book/browsing mumsnet whilst I wait for my daughter to get dressed so we can go to a museum. DH working away this week so he'll head off late afternoon and then DD and I will probably watch Paddington 2 (we're seeing the Peru one next weekend) and have dinner, not sure what yet.

Berlinlover · 17/11/2024 09:44

I’m recovering from a stoma reversal so will be having a very quiet day. I’m still in bed at the moment but when I get up I’ll eat a little and relax by the fire for the afternoon.

MoreIcedLattePlease · 17/11/2024 09:44

Currently sat up in bed, drinking tea and waiting for DH to bring in bacon sandwiches.

Once we’ve enjoyed those, we’ll get up, pop the bedding in the wash and start going through the Christmas decorations. We’re not putting them up yet, but we are moving at some point very soon, so we thought now would be a good time to purge the ones we won’t use.

We also went through the loft yesterday, so we have people collecting old stuff we popped on freecycle today and a tip run later for the rest. I also need to list DDs Our Generation dolls and accessories on Facebook as she’s outgrown them. She is very much enjoying her rediscovered Sylvanians from the loft though!

Once we’ve done that, I have a little bit of lesson planning to do for tomorrow, then I’m cooking pork loins with crushed new potatoes, creamed cabbage and peppercorn sauce for tea. Black Forest gateau for pudding, then I’ll watch and episode of Rivals before bed.

Your pottering day sounds lovely, Lucysmam.

Justonedayatatime11 · 17/11/2024 09:49

Morning @lucysmam.

Flopped on the sofa. My BP is through the floor and every time I move everything goes black. Been up for hours but no energy or inclination to move!

DH is in the kitchen making coffee and bacon sandwiches which I'm hoping perks me up.

Absolute bare minimum today I think which is so frustrating. So much I need to be getting on with!!

TribulationPeriwinkle · 17/11/2024 09:49

Morning! Gosh, @Needingacoffee, I hope you get good news very soon and also that you manage to relax a bit today.
DP has just taken DD off to her Sunday club and I’m waiting for my pain au chocolats to warm up.
I’ve unloaded the dishwasher and put a load of washing and a load of drying in but still need to do all the school uniform for next week.
Am hoping for a nice restful Sunday, reading and doing a bit more of the beanie I’m crocheting - it went horribly wrong so I had to unravel about half of it 😩.
Have lovely Sundays, all!

lucysmam · 17/11/2024 09:53

Oh goodness @Needingacoffee I hope you manage to relax a bit 💐

@Justonedayatatime11 hopefully the bacon sarny perks you up a bit - sounds like you need a nothingy kind of day though!

@TribulationPeriwinkle I hate it when that happens!

Back in hospital after my hysterectomy last Monday , mega wound infection which has opened up and all sorts of nasty stuff coming out but it’s getting sorted and the good news is my tests showed while ovarian cyst was borderline nothing else had signs of cancer so all good when I get over this hurdle !

Topsy44 · 17/11/2024 09:56

Good morning Lucysman and All.

Lovely photo of your kitten - looks similar to how my boy cat was as a youngun and is now 16!

Currently sitting on the sofa under a blanket with a coffee and will have some porridge in a mo. DD is still in her room but will be down shortly.

A lovely cozy day in for us, need to get uniforms washed and sheets changed and might tackle cleaning out a few cupboards in the kitchen. This afternoon will watch a film with DD - probably Babe as me and my Mum were talking about it yesterday and DD said she’d never seen it so a nice cozy one to watch!

Tea will be something fairly simple and then I’ll settle down to watch Celebrity.

Zippedydodah · 17/11/2024 09:59

Good morning everyone, the clouds are clearing here and the sun’s starting to brighten up the sky 👏
I slept very badly so feeling somewhat jaded but I have done the ironing and put everything away. DH is about to take the dog out and I will try and finish DGS1’s socks so I can post them tomorrow or Tuesday, this time by recorded post etc to make sure they actually get delivered.
Beef stew, Yorkshire pudding, mash and vegetables for dinner, all ready to go.
Sending hugs to the poorly ones on here, hoping you all feel better very soon.

ItsAllAboutTheBass7 · 17/11/2024 10:00

Lying in bed with a heavy cold feeling like death 🥴

Whattheduck · 17/11/2024 10:01

Morning I was up early so took the dog for a long walk at a local park she’s now on the sofa next to me snoring whilst I watch Moonflower Murders .I’ve just had a croissant and on my second coffee.
Dh is away with work due back later so going to have chicken with a cheese and leek sauce roast potatoes tender stem broccoli and peas
Dd is at uni and she’s working today
No plans for today have some washing to do and might sort out my wardrobe
Will watch Strictly later whilst eating birthday cake (it was my birthday the other day)
Have a good day everyone

DilemmaDelilah · 17/11/2024 10:04

Good morning @lucysmam . I've had first, and second, breakfast in bed. I'm currently waiting for DH to finish in the shower then I will go in. We actually have 3 showers but we only heat one bathroom and I do like a really warm bathroom if I'm showering! Plus, one of the showers is over the bath and one is downstairs, so I wait for the walk in shower in the warm bathroom to become free.

We are going out for a late lunch this afternoon (3.30!) hence the larger than normal breakfast, and I'm hoping that I can resist eating anything more before we go out.

Otherwise I don't have much planned. My youngest let us know last weekend that she will be bringing the toddler here for Christmas so I've been collating a few little stocking presents for her, otherwise she would be the only person not to have a stocking. I will wrap those up later. I will also order a dressing gown for my elderly demented uncle's Christmas present and try to see when my eldest grandchild's present is due to arrive - it's been on pre-order since August and I'm worried it won't arrive in time for Christmas. It was originally meant for their birthday present in October, but I had to get something else. Everything else is already sorted out! We are eating out on Christmas Day as I'm too decrepit to cook the full meal. All the family will be here for lunch on Christmas Eve and I have already bought the main ingredients for the pre-festive fish pie, which I will cook in advance and freeze. I still need to get a ham for Boxing Day but we already have Christmas cake and pudding. I haven't decided on dessert for Christmas Eve, so I do still have to make/buy that. Lemon cheesecake if I'm feeling strong, something bought it not.

I'm rambling on - it's nice to be able to do that.

AliceTinkersAliceBand · 17/11/2024 10:08

Good morning all,

It's roast gammon for us today too, with mash and braised red cabbage. General tidying and a food shop before watching I'm A Celeb tonight.
I fancy baking some of Nigella's Christmas Morning Muffins so may do that this afternoon (I've been impressed with the bake function on my air fryer which makes baking muffins far quicker and easier than when using our broken old oven), and am going to make some raspberry gin in preparation for Christmas.

Plump82 · 17/11/2024 10:12

We were up and out at 7am to catch a beautiful sunrise. Had a good 2 hour walk and have been trying to warm up since we got home!! It's baltic today. Rest of the day will be a quiet one. I had planned on having a try on of clothes I might pack for an up and coming trip to Barcelona but I'm too cold to even think about having to undress multiple times so the rest of the day will be multiple cups of tea and trying to finish the book I'm in the middle of. Later I'll make tea which will be creamy mushroom and leek pasta bake.

TribulationPeriwinkle · 17/11/2024 10:17

I’m coming round to yours for Christmas,@DilemmaDelilah .

Taytocrisps · 17/11/2024 10:17

@PermanentTemporary sorry to hear about your MIL. Hope you feel better soon. Always the way - getting sick when you've things to do and need to be fit and well.

@frozendaisy enjoy your day in the big smoke.

@BelievingIsSeeing congrats. on your adoption. Hope all goes well and your LO settles in ok. Wishing you all lots of love and happiness together.

@Singleandproud enjoy your cheesy Christmas movie. I love watching Christmas movies with my adult DD. We watch some really well made, quality Christmas movies. But usually catch the odd cheesy one too.

@Needingacoffee sorry to hear about the brain surgery. Such an anxious time for you. And the insomnia is only making things worse. Really hoping you get good news.

@Natsku such a shame you're missing out on a fun outing. Get well soon.

@Oganesson118 what a lovely evening with your Mum. And nice to have breakfast handed to you. I saw 'Paddington 2' last night and really enjoyed it.

@Berlinlover hope you make a good recovery from your surgery.

@Justonedayatatime11 you poor thing! That sounds nasty. Frustrating when you're confined to bed/the sofa. But not much you can do about it.

@CoastalCalm sorry to hear about your setback. Hope you start to improve and they can discharge you.

@ItsAllAboutTheBass7 get well soon. A lot of sick people around, by the sound of things.

@Whattheduck belated Happy Birthday.

Gardendiary · 17/11/2024 10:20

Gosh, sending best wishes to the lovely mnetters recovering from operations. Hope it is good news for you @Needingacoffee
Well, I’m the only one up so far in my house, we all went to a friends party last night and stayed up far too late, but a lovely time was had. I’ve got a cold so hoping that I can shift that before next week when I’m working three evenings as well as daytimes, it’s going to be a slog.
Its lovely and sunny here though so I need to get myself out for a bit of a walk before the forecast rain arrives and then I might do a bit of work to prepare for next week, a bit of cleaning and then it’s roast lamb for tea. Have a great day and I hope those who want to get their Glastonbury tickets.

Dontcallmescarface · 17/11/2024 10:23

Morning all. Currently at a 3 day music event at Butlins. We're just chilling out at the moment and trying to work out where the patio table wandered off to last night the dirty little stopout. 😅
