Have you gone on blue sky yet?

I can honestly recommend it. It’s a breath of fresh air. It’s like what Twitter was like to begin with. It’s not got the nasty toxic right wing people on it like Twitter has and most people have left Twitter in massive numbers and gone over to blue sky it is actually designed by the people that set up Twitter to begin with.
. I am not very technological minded, but I am finding my way around it. It seems to be very good that you can have different feeds. Something they said about yesterday on a video I watched about trying to stop the algorithms from giving you wrong things it could’ve done previously.. more about community anyway I just thought I’d wonder if anybody else was on it?

I'm being dim, how do I find out about topics I'd like to follow? I love forests for instance how do I see where to follow please?

In Twitter, I'd go to the search box and type something like 'amazing forests'. You'll get accounts such as https://x.com/VanBigTrees, follow them and see who do they follow, and follow the ones you like.

OvaHere · 15/11/2024 18:32

You seem very invested in promoting Blue Sky today OP.

I'm sure it's a great platform as long as you don't hold any wrong opinions about anything.

Thank you very much! Anyone know what the equivalent is on Bluesky? I'm not on Twitter and seems a bit daft to join at this point in time!

Commiserations.

No need, I got a massive search spike as a result (but thanks for your thoughts).

Well that's all well and good but what about left leaning women who don't want to be hounded by TRAs? You can promote Blue Sky as an amazing place if you want but the simple truth is it's condoning 'nasty rhetoric' if it is silencing women for holding reasonable lawful beliefs.

That's not proper engagement it's misogynistic engagement.

How can you in all honesty on the one hand say vaccine deniers are bad because it's unscientific but a movement that promotes the removal of women's rights and mutilating bodies is not equally unscientific? That's hypocrisy.

Edited

It's not unscientific because the recommended treatment fir gender dysphoria is psychological support first talking therapy and then if all agree hormones and not all the time up to patient but surgery. That is what health care providers do.
Now you are very much entitled to your gender critical view even though I disagree .
What I think people want is to be able to say what they think without a backlash and you know that's not life.
You are welcome ho on what ever app you like say whatever you want but yes you may get push vacked from those that don't agree that's life.
If they threaten you or are personal that's wrong but free speech is both sides.

Not invested just asking well maybe they are wrong? Maybe that's the issue and maybe people don't like a backlash but that's fine isn't it . Free speech and all

Jesus, get a life. No surprise to me that humans will be succeeded by Octopus.

TheMotherShipAhoy · 15/11/2024 18:40

Of course! Twitter doesn't feel like a worthwhile place to spend time anymore as I mainly engage in areas adjacent to my professional field. Blue Sky, on the other hand feels free of so much of the draggy clutter which stupefies Twitter.

Ah so YOU believe that some men are women?

You do realise that it's transphobic to assume that trans women are dysphoric. That's not a requirement at all, nor is psychological support. Don't go talking about those opinions on BlueSky or you might find yourself the subject of abuse of the TRAs.

LostittoBostik · 15/11/2024 18:41

Is that true @lifeturnsonadime - I haven't seen anything of that nature but tbh I'm on it professionally so probably not in any circles that would be discussing it

Moonlightstars · 15/11/2024 18:41

I am liking it for science, cartoons, history, nature, and my niche special interests (that aren't weird).
It's nice not everything being very frontline shouty politics.
I do like politics and I am a happy confident proud GC woman but quite like having a space where that isn't that important. I haven't seen any trans anything yet and am just avoiding it. I think the Twitter sphere was so shit for having proper debate about trans stuff that it's pointless trying to do it in that sort of environment and in fact it just polarizes people rather than bringing people around.

Nothing to do with the left all to do with actively trying to court elon musk as he's part of the gov. They left because of elon musk

Until now, Disney et al would have been first out the door with The Guardian, Don Lemon (and Clifton Suspension Bridge!) etc. Now they're courting Elon Musk - even though they're almost certainly going to get abuse from the left for it. That's a big change... They've clearly noticed they are entirely out of touch and they need to start sucking up to the majority rather than the few noisy bigots they've been in thrall to for the last few years.

They'd also hardly be bothering if it were really true that "most people have left Twitter in massive numbers and gone over to blue sky" as you claim in your op. They're buying advertising where their audience is going to see it, and that is X.

That isn't what happened under Jack Dorsey's Twitter though. It went well beyond being disagreed with. Women were hounded, reported, doxxed, threatened with rape and death and banned in their thousands for having even the mildest of opinions about trans ideology.

You don't seem very up to speed with what has happened to women on social media in the last decade. Or you're pretending you don't.

Naomi Cunnigham is a feminist lawyer who is GC.

She's been marked for 'intolerance' and receiving the kind of abuse we used to see on X/ Twitter.

This was for @LostittoBostik

Yes, as I wrote in my post 🤔Try reading it again, slowly...

Twitter’s been garbage since 2016. I left around then and didn’t join another site to “replace” it, as I was just done with the whole concept. The last eight years have been bliss without it.

(Yes, I read and post on Mumsnet but I consider it an old-school forum rather than a true social network like FB, X, Insta, TT, Snap etc.)

Not a good one! So far the op's tried to convince us by acknowledging that though there may well be hate towards GC women, they deserve it as their views are wrong. And gloating that the site's already blocked democratically elected politicians from being heard. I rather suspect that anyone who agrees with op's views have already found their own way to blue sky.

So is mumsnet just gc women then ? It was a question to all people maybe that's the issue on mumsnet as women like myself just really don't agree

I never said you deserve hate either i said yes God dam it there will be a push back. You got one evidence of someone saying trans women are men as women you know full well that's gonna be pushed back on its offensive. Now you may disagree with it being offensive but that is life .
