I can honestly recommend it. It’s a breath of fresh air. It’s like what Twitter was like to begin with. It’s not got the nasty toxic right wing people on it like Twitter has and most people have left Twitter in massive numbers and gone over to blue sky it is actually designed by the people that set up Twitter to begin with.
. I am not very technological minded, but I am finding my way around it. It seems to be very good that you can have different feeds. Something they said about yesterday on a video I watched about trying to stop the algorithms from giving you wrong things it could’ve done previously.. more about community anyway I just thought I’d wonder if anybody else was on it?

And if you find hearing opinions you don't agree with too upsetting, just ignore the 'Trending' feed and only look at the posts from people who always say things you like - like how men in dresses want to "rape women in holes they don't even have yet". Ah, the good old days of Twitter - before Elon turned it all hateful... Judging by this op's previous posts I suspect this is very much the sort of content he enjoys, but I personally prefer a bit more balance and rather less sickening and violent misogyny.

@Lilifer It's not just different opinions, it's vile and sexualised misogyny by incels in response to almost anything you post.

I think the people claiming it's just those on the left stomping off in a huff aren't actually active users and don't realise how bad it is now. The algorithm no longer serves any professional use anymore

Bluesky has been rather more pleasant.

I'm not on X for professional use so cannot speak to that. And maybe my algorithm works differently but I see a range of opinions on X across left and right side of political spectrum which is the way I like it, so I'll be staying put.

@Lilifer Fair enough but today a lot of Tory MPs and think tanks on the right have joined Bluesky. I think (hope) within a month it will be like Old Twitter.

I am on the centre left but agree that without a range of opinions and perspectives it's all a pointless exercise. But I'm hopeful.

Doesn't the algorithm work to show you content that you engage with? I never see any of that sort of content.

I think there is room for multiple platforms like these and a bit of competition does no harm, but in my opinion X has vastly improved since Musk took over in particular from the point of view of GC women

Yup. If people are seeing nothing but hateful bigotry, that's on them. I see loads of stuff on space and ai as that tends to be all I use it to look at. I even follow Elon Musk, but I still don't notice much hateful content being recommended . I do usually regret clicking on 'Trending' though...

I saw something yesterday after the right saying how much they want to own the libs and how much they want to destroy the left and the nasty rhetoric aimed at kamala and the stuff about minorities. The right cannot complain if the other side no longer wants yo engage you can't engage the maga lot are a cult they talk in a hive mind. Personally I want to be surrounded by calm and people that engage properly. I don't mind talking to a typical tory from long ago but now the dial has moved to way close to the knuckle.

Although even my For You feed is just a never ending list if "believe it or not" videos or twee inspirational bot stuff. Nary a far right incel in sight.

My Following feed still reflects my various areas of interest and during the election the content definitely didn't swing Republican or Democrat as it was all filtered through the lens of various mostly center or soft left/soft right commentators.

I wonder if people with a lot of followers or long block lists are more badly affected as the algorithm has more to go on.

Well that's all well and good but what about left leaning women who don't want to be hounded by TRAs? You can promote Blue Sky as an amazing place if you want but the simple truth is it's condoning 'nasty rhetoric' if it is silencing women for holding reasonable lawful beliefs.

That's not proper engagement it's misogynistic engagement.

How can you in all honesty on the one hand say vaccine deniers are bad because it's unscientific but a movement that promotes the removal of women's rights and mutilating bodies is not equally unscientific? That's hypocrisy.
