Could I get away with 17mm difference on kitchen doors?

Am basically looking to get my cupboard doors replaced.

In the photo the black numbers are the actual measurements of my current doors.

They do standard door sizes and custom.

To match my doors exactly is a custom price and costs £250 more.

The red is the standard size.

The width is the same as my doors.

But the height would be 17mm less,
So hung in the middle the doors would be 8.5mm shorter top and bottom.

Would that be OK?

Was expecting it to be the lower price. Not the custom and not sure I can raise another 250.

I'm so upset :(

Went to put my money in the bank this morning to order it all and these ate OOS now :(

Absolutely gutted.

How many do you need? You could get a couple made to measure to match the other ones and you would still be quids in. Loads of the replacement door people do cream shaker of different dimensions, it will still look better than the whole kitchen being wrong sized. There's always a way!

Here's another option
https://www.davidwilsondoors.com/product/custom-size-primed-mdf-doors/ for example here, and get yourself a tin of eggshell paint, which you'll need for your trims anyway.

Painting the doors is actually quite therapeutic if you decide to go for primed MDF. You just need a little roller. https://www.facebook.com/watch/?v=1395798337202443

Another thing you could do (not stalking honest) if your 446 doors are double on a 900 unit, replace it with 900 wide pan drawers, may also be easier to access if you have a disability as well as looking more modern. Maybe with those inner drawers to make good use of height. You would need to buy some drawer boxes thats all.

Honestly Op, you asked for opinions and you've got them, but don't like them!

It'll be a bodge job and look awful.

You mentioned renter hacks. Do you rent? If so really this is a landlord job. They can claim it back as an expense too!

Unfortunately it's housing association and they said they only replace the kitchens every 15 years.
They've been out for inspections twice and said it's structurally fine, it's only aesthetic so they won't replace.

No problem, happy to help. Am I allowed to link here?
Alternatively, list the sizes here and I’ll tell you how much it would be, delivery included.

I think you could DM me the site?

I need (7) 731mm x 496
(3) 731mm x 446

Drawer fronts (2x)290x596 & (1x )143x596

Kitchenwoe · 17/11/2024 13:33

I can't get the eBay ones.

The 731 x 496 are display ones with glass windows
It would looks really weird with all my base/bottom cupboards stuffed with pans to have those display windows

I don't know how I missed that!

there were slab gloss Glencoe ones -not shaker- that were not glass
I know that I prefer shaker but they had the advantage of being only £28

They are the same, the larger size is a glazed glass panel.

If it were thw other way round, 3 glass panels, it would work as they're top ones
But 7 glass ones all at the bottom would look so weird.

I really appreciate you trying to help.
