I can't drink enough water and feel dizzy. Shamelessly posting for traffic

Day 2 now where I can only sip at water (if I try bigger sips I'll vomit)

I can't eat. I feel like I've eaten a Christmas dinner and pudding, yet nothing has been eaten in 2/3 days. And I like food!

I just feel so full. Trouble is, I now feel very dizzy from an active lifestyle (Kids), and I suspect dehydration because I just can't get enough water or any fluids down

My stomach looks 8 months pregnant and is so, so sore. Like a 'open sore' feeling.

Prior to this, I was constipated for 10 days and took Laxido as prescribed. I continued on with the maintenance dose and as of yesterday, can't even do that as I'll vomit

The pain is honestly so awful. Yet clearly I feel like I need some nutrients because I feel dizzy with low blood sugar Sad

Following up with my very nice GP on Monday morning at 10am

I'd probably phone 111 and see if you can be seen at out of hours tonight. If you're dehydrated and in a lot of pain it sounds like you need help sooner than Monday.

OP it sounds to me like you could have a bowel obstruction and should ring 111 or even go to A&E. I’m sure someone with more expertise and knowledge will be along soon to advise more. Flowers

I appreciate your quick reply (and previous poster too) Flowers

GP assured me it can't be a bowel obstruction because she could hear good bowel sounds, but said go to A&E if you start vomiting faecal matter (argh) or the pain becomes unbearable

I suppose none of those things are true so no need to seek immediate care

But the pain is very much constant and stopping me doing quite a bit

can you suck on an orange? or ice cubes?

WillowTit · 09/11/2024 17:33

sounds like the pain has become unbearable op

WillowTit · 09/11/2024 17:34

are you still constipated?

Yes I can do this

Things may have changed since you last saw the GP. I think you need to be seen before Monday morning.

alexdgr8 · 09/11/2024 17:37

Please ring 111 now.

HaveYouGotNoMoreHolly · 09/11/2024 17:37

WillowTit · 09/11/2024 17:34

are you still constipated?

I don't feel like it, no, but figured I really must be since I feel unbelievably full and I can't eat a thing

I was hoovering earlier and thought I might just land on my face! Had to sit down. Everything feels so heavy like I've starved myself (remember a similar feeling in my early teens when I had an eating disorder)

AnneShirleysNewDress · 09/11/2024 17:37

I'd ring 111 OP, sounds like things have changed since you spoke to the GP.

Dunk19 · 09/11/2024 17:40

Please call 111 this isn't normal and has changed since you last saw a doctor.

Tittat50 · 09/11/2024 17:43

The GP can go swivel because I've had severe bowel obstruction and the GP would never know by the noises. Your bowels can move, make noise, your belly soft etc. They cannot diagnose this or rule this out at a GP surgery.

If things persist, please ignore the GP. They are not the experts here.

Powder magnesium always moves my bowels. I bought Magnesium citrate from H and B for this problem. I have neurological problems and a stoma so have extensive experience of this. My bowel perforated due to various illnesses I have, I did not vomit fecal matter despite this severe incident. I despair at the NHS. ( I have multi conditions that caused bowel perforation so don't worry about that. My point is that I was so blocked but no vomiting feaces.

If you have an impacted bowel I think an x ray can show it but the gold standard is a CT. With severe pain and blocks, your bowels can twist slightly and it's agonising. You must be firm with these GPs if your pain is significant.

Definitely call 111 or go to urgent care if there’s one nearby. In the meantime get some Dioralyte or own brand rehydration sachets from the supermarket. If you make it up you can leave it in the fridge for up to 24 hours and just sip it as often as you can. That’ll help with the dehydration but you absolutely need to be seen by a doctor

HaveYouGotNoMoreHolly · 09/11/2024 17:46

@Tittat50 thank you for that. I have had my appendix and gallbladder removed after visiting A&E before

For the gallbladder, I cried in pain and heard the doctor tell his horrified Junior that 'it's women's troubles, most likely'.

I returned with a septic infection and after I recovered, it was removed straight away Angry

It can't do any harm to call 111. Do it now before the kids' bedtime madness starts.

I don't think you should wait until Monday.

OhBeAFineGuyKissMe · 09/11/2024 17:53

When did you last have a bowel movement? And if recently was it normal?

Noseybookworm · 09/11/2024 17:54

If you can't keep anything down and you're dehydrated enough to feel weak and dizzy, you need to call 111 and not wait til Monday!

Last movement on my own was 18 days ago

Last movement via Laxido was 5 days ago now

At risk of TMI, were the bowel movements full or essentially liquid?

My husband has diverticulitis and a perforation. He was quite similar to your description and his GP was also happy to send him off with laxatives.
111 suggested peppermint tea.

I could see he was grey with pain and insisted he went to A and E. He has no temperature but his blood infection markers were very high.

Don't mess about. Get checked if you've not been properly in all that time.

HaveYouGotNoMoreHolly · 09/11/2024 18:49

@HowYouSpellingThat10 Liquid, like water

Have done a 111 online thing which suggested I speak to my GP. Changed the answers a bit and got a nurse ringing back within 2 hours

OP posts:
justanothercuppa · 09/11/2024 19:05

OP with your recent update re it being like water it does really sound like you could have a blockage and this is the only stool that is managing to get out past the blockage. I’m glad you have a nurse calling back, please seek help sooner if you feel you need to Flowers

pinotgrigeeeeo · 09/11/2024 19:09

I agree it sounds like a blockage.

I think you need to be ready to go to A+E, OP. And I don't say that lightly, I hate people misusing A+E.

frecklejuice · 09/11/2024 19:11

Definitely sounds like a blockage especially if it's like water as diarrhoea can get past the hard stools. Please go and get checked.

Balloonhearts · 09/11/2024 19:12

I agree it sounds like a blockage, gut sounds don't necessarily mean it's getting through. I'd go to A&E and make sure to tell them that you can't drink any fluids as you will throw it back up.
