Xmas ideas for DH - need inspiration

I am not a great gift giver. I try, I really do. But I can just never think of anything to get DH for Christmas.

What are you getting your significant other this year? Absolutely shameless idea stealing that I’ll clearly pass off as my own idea

Much as I love a mystery, do you have anymore information? For example, his age and interests.

Christmaspanicisreal · 05/11/2024 23:04

Just turned 40. Fairly fit - runs weekly and goes to the gym, that sort of thing - but not obsessive about his body. Likes his rugby. Drinks a little, not much. Loves a podcast, always has a book on the go. Guilty pleasure is his PS5 when he has the time (rarely) and our DS isn’t hogging it (even rarer!). He’s a good cook and loves his food.

We’ve been together 15 years and I feel I have bought him everything over the years! Out of ideas!

Do you have to get him anything? Me and DP always club together to get something we both want. So one year we bought an iPad, another year we bought a new sofa - things like that. There's no point buying for the sake of buying.

Set of good quality knives
Cooking course
Running gear or watch
Kindle
Rugby shirt or tickets for a game
Book on an interest or by a favourite author
Beer subscription
Chilli plant
Cooking book
Meal at a favourite restaurant
Bluetooth headphones or speakers
Yearly subscription for a favourite magazine or newspaper
Cinema pass

Considering Apple Watch 10 here.

Enough4me · 05/11/2024 23:13

Mine loves marmite, so I bought vintage marmite and a marmite spatula.

Also, memory foam slippers, his favourite shampoo, funny but good quality socks.
We'll spend money on joint things too (nice meals, M&S Christmas food).

My husband is getting 2 tickets for a return flight to our favourite destination 🤣 one for me and one for him!
I’ve paid and booked flights, he can sort out the villa or hotel after receiving the tickets!

Notmydaughteryoubitch · 05/11/2024 23:14

I normally buy DH tickets to an event - normally one we can go to together and have a child free weekend away. But couldn't find anything that fit the bill this year, so bought him a rather nice new fleece from Passenger, some whisky (writers tears, felt apt as he comes to the conclusion of 18 months of writing his novel) and am going to do a nice framed B&W photo of him and DD our for a walk for him to hang in his study.

Notagain24 · 05/11/2024 23:15

A subscription for beer or cheese sounds like it would suit - and for the day you can make up a pack of different beers/cheeses so he has something to unwrap.

Notmydaughteryoubitch · 05/11/2024 23:15

Oh and I don't know if it will be of interest but no doubt his favourite gift of the last few years was a days experience at a blacksmith's making his own knife. He still goes on about it several years later.

MostlyCloudy1 · 05/11/2024 23:17

The best things I’ve bought my husband that he’s really used is his AirPods and an Ember mug, which I swore would be the most useless gift but turned out to be his favourite to this day.

ive stopped buying him smart watches. Never worn 😅

goingdownfighting · 05/11/2024 23:18

My hubby is getting:

Coldplay tickets
USB car hoover
Car bin
Car air
Freshener

Gosh just googled Ember mug!

Tbh I’d rather we didn’t exchange gifts at all but DH is so infuriatingly thoughtful with his gifts to me that I feel I need to put in the effort. Smug git.

Omg he sounds just like mine! 😍

Ive just bought mine the chance to canoe over the world’s highest aqueduct. It’s in wales. Would he like that if you can get away?

MrsSkylerWhite · 05/11/2024 23:40

A painting

Needmorelego · 05/11/2024 23:42

Why don't you just ask him if there's anything particular he would like?

Yeah, that’s my ‘go to’. He “can’t think of anything in particular”.

There's some great inspo here.

I'm following this as I'm stuck for ideas. Doesn't help that DP has a November birthday so I have to think of that too!

BadPeopleFan · 06/11/2024 07:16

Bought mine a lambswool jumper and gloves from Woolovers.
It's gorgeous, I might steal it!
