Xmas ideas for DH - need inspiration

Christmaspanicisreal · 05/11/2024 22:30

I am not a great gift giver. I try, I really do. But I can just never think of anything to get DH for Christmas.

What are you getting your significant other this year? Absolutely shameless idea stealing that I’ll clearly pass off as my own idea

High quality gloves
If he's into working out, could be a gym membership or a gift card to a store where he buys his equipment
An upgraded version of anything he already has or used to have and enjoyed it (tools, perfume, skincare, aftershave, etc)
If he's into digital stuff, could be a subscription to video editing or photo editing software.
Tech stuff like good headphones, high quality mouse or a good portable charger might be a good idea.

Mine is impossible to buy for and has no ideas for me to buy.
So far however, I have
Found his old, beloved, watch which wasn't working and sent it off for repair
Ordered some really nice compression baselayers to go with his favourite cycling jersey as he was moaning the other day that he had dieted out of the ones he really liked and that company don't do patterned ones anymore
Bought a lino cut of something he likes (I don't know whether he will really enjoy this, but it goes with other art we have anyway)

Teppanyaki indoor grill

If you are not on a budget, how about his own PS5 so he doesn’t have to share with DS?

FlyMeToPluto · 06/11/2024 18:30

I found some kitchen website and bought a few gadgets off there (one was a Spanish dish where you crush the garlic on it to make a paste, another was a thermapen, an olive oil pourer with a spout thing) as he really likes cooking

Got him a shirt I know he's had his eye on

That's it so far. We are both on a diet so that's cut out booze and chocolate/food which we used to get for each other 😂

Bought my DP a butchery course last year - big foodie and great cook.

Absolutely loved it and has proved very useful! Never underestimate the ability to debone a chicken.

APurpleSquirrel · 06/11/2024 18:38

I've got DH tickets for him & I to see The Book of Mormon - he's wanted to see it since it originally came out.
Also got him some new tshirts & will probably get him a board game - he loves board games.
For his birthday I got us tickets to see a comedian (Rhod Gilbert).

FlyMeToPluto · 07/11/2024 17:43

That's a great idea @IDontLikePinaColadas

This is my adult DS because I don't have a DH, but whatever -

Boot drier (you can use it for trainers too)
Lego Christmas tree (so can use it as a decoration in future years)
Photo printer - to print out photos from his phone
F1 T shirt
Thinking about a cookery course - in a nearby foodie town you can learn to make apple juice or to cook specific things like steak.

I’ve just ordered a new guitar for my DH which was something he mentioned a while ago. He started lessons earlier this year as a hobby and it’s the only hobby he has.

I’ll also order a few small rings that go onto a specific leather fob. The rings are engraved with country names that we’ve been to or ones he’s been to back in his work travel days.

A couple of shirts or t.shirts as I’m sick of seeing him wear the same ones ALL the time.

Socks that look like you’re wearing clogs, he already has ones that look like brogues, sliders and sandals with socks, they’re just a joke gift 😁

I'm quite amazed by people's gift budgets after reading this thread 😬

An hour session in a floatation tank
A ticket to a football match in January
A couple of cds he wants
A clootie dumpling!!

Bought mine a lambswool jumper and gloves from Woolovers.
It's gorgeous, I might steal it!

Thank you! Might not steal the jumper but definitely stealing the idea.

(What's their sizing like do you know?)

He hasn't tried it on but I have had a look and it looks quite generous to me. It really is a gorgeous jumper so fingers crossed it fits him🙏

Book of Mormon is brilliant. Great gift!

Same here. Determined to budget and not to resort to using the credit card this year … hence partly why I’m trying to be more organised (and thoughtful!), rather than throwing money at the problem the week before Christmas!

@Femalefootyfan those socks sound like a great stocking filler!

Mine travels a lot with work and likes hoodies for flying, so I got him a nice new one. I also have a few t-shirts I have picked up when I saw something I thought he would like, socks (from the cat), and have ordered this book I think he will enjoy:
