You can only have one choice!

Roses
Heroes
Celebrations
Quality Street

If you only eat chocolate handmade by angels, this is probably not for you ...

Celebrations all round here. Don't mind Heroes but not first choice, dislike Roses and Quality Street.

BreatheAndFocus · 02/11/2024 17:55

Heroes. It used to be Quality Street but they’ve gone downhill just like so many chocolates, that apparently have flavours but all taste the same.

Thesilkinsideachesnutshell · 02/11/2024 17:56

Celebrations from the fridge! I love the twix, milky way and maltesters. My husband eats the bounty!

Have you seen that they've brought back the deep metal tins for Quality Street (or was it Roses?). I saw them in Asda - £10. Flash back to Christmas in the 1970s & 80s where your nan & grandad had these tins & they were full 😊

Heronatemygoldfish · 02/11/2024 18:03

1980s Roses before they changed the hazelnut whirls from a nut on top of a Button and whirl on that, to something obviously moulded. It just didn't have the same crunch.

Still would prefer a box of original Neapolitans.

If any of these chocolate companies wanted to outsell everyone, they just need to revert to the old recipes for both their chocolate and the sweets. I wish.

Obvs quality st but heroes a close second…

MagentaRavioli · 02/11/2024 18:06

The quality street in paper wrappers are crap. The switch to paper is green-washing: the massive plastic tub contains more plastic than the sweet wrappers inside ever would. The chocolates taste worse now. I would switch to roses but they have those horrendous plastic foil wrappers.

Neapolitans! Bring them back pronto!

I'm one of the handmade by angels brigade, but nobody is allowed to touch those, and I'd buy them much less often if confectionery companies hadn't dicked around with our chocolate. I need a tin to pass around, so the only choice is Celebrations. It used to be Quality Street, back in the day.

This

Yes.

Though I was in .John Lewis in Oxford Street yesterday and you can buy green triangles all on their own without having all the other rubbish cluttering up the box.

I was strong.

mitogoshigg · 02/11/2024 18:15

Celebrations as long as I only get snickers!

Really find them all too sweet though

EmiliaRuusuvuori · 02/11/2024 18:15

@Refreshingpie Thanks, I'll have to try them.

Morven7 · 02/11/2024 18:17

All cheap and nasty tbh

xyz111 · 02/11/2024 18:24

Hero's, but they can ditch the horrible double decker one. I love a double decker, but in its small form it's nasty!!!!

Heroes

MorrisZapp · 02/11/2024 19:18

John Lewis have a big QS display and it appears that coffee creams are BACK BABY so I'll indulge for sure.

We have a tub of Heroes right now and DS claims they are taking the piss but he stuffs them down fast enough.

I love Dinky Deckers!

PullTheBricksDown · 02/11/2024 19:23

Reading this I heard the line 'It's the Snickers from a box of Celebrations' 😄

I'd go Heroes

Favouritefruits · 02/11/2024 19:27

Roses

Tooty78 · 02/11/2024 19:28

Not the point of the thread really, but I stopped buying these tubs about 3 years ago.
The chocolate just didn't taste the same, and my favourite centres disappeared.

Now I buy a couple of boxes of the Big Mix chocolates from M&S, there isn't one chocolate we dislike.
The strawberry and orange creams are divine!

Oh yes, The Big Mix are fabulous.

Etincelle · 02/11/2024 19:43

Marks are good for Christmas chocolates.

HumerousHumous · 02/11/2024 19:46

Quality Street build your own tin. More expensive but worth it. Last year I had a ln entire tub of green triangles. Also like the orange and strawberry creams.

Wish I could find tubs that have coffee creams. No one seems to do them these days....
