Jo Malone, worth the price tag?

I was perusing in Jo Malone yesterday and really liked the Nectarine blossom & honey perfume. It's my birthday coming up and I'm tempted. Does anyone have this one and does it last a while once sprayed?? I don't want to waste money if you can only smell it for a short amount of time.....

It’s not worth it in my opinion. I have had a few as gifts over the years and never find they last. No more than an hour or so. And other people can’t smell them on me either.

I think you can get much better perfumes around that cost or cheaper

LunaTheCat · 31/10/2024 19:37

They are very expensive with minimal staying power… a bit better if you layer yourself with moisturiser first.
”Jo Loves” brand is better.

100% recommend the dupes from the Perfume Parlour. I use the English pear and freesia and the blackberry and bay ones and always get compliments!

Wouldn’t recommend personally, smell nice but doesn’t last on me at all.

dreamcatchlavender · 31/10/2024 20:08

LOVE the smells of so many Jo Malone perfumes, but whenever I have one I'm always disappointed that I can't smell it after half hour or so... so I've stopped asking for them for birthday/Christmas sadly.

Gonegirl7 · 31/10/2024 20:09

I think so but especially for their stronger scents like pomegranate noir, their bath oils and body oils!

Bugsy73 · 31/10/2024 20:17

Thank you for the feedback. I feel disappointed 😂

Used to be worth it years ago. Went to get another bottle of my favourite wood sage and sea salt. Had a spray of it in the shop and couldn't smell it after a couple of minutes. I haven't bought any more since.

LisaJohnsonsFacebookMole · 31/10/2024 20:25

Categorically not.

biscuitcat · 31/10/2024 20:29

Sadly echoing everyone else - a few years ago it was definitely treat prices, but still justifiable, but they've got so expensive recently that I no longer buy.

daliesque · 31/10/2024 20:30

They are beautiful perfumes but these days last about 5 mins on me. Had several other people saying the same thing.

Bluevelvetsofa · 31/10/2024 22:44

They originally had a lovely one years ago, called Verbenas of Provence and that lasted. Lime, Basil and Mandarin was a staple, but now, none of them last.

Jo Loves is better, but they’re all very expensive now. Too expensive even for a treat, for me.

MrsMitford3 · 31/10/2024 22:46

Aldi has amazing Jo Malone dupes!!!!!

So cheap and actually very nice

Printedword · 31/10/2024 23:01

It doesn’t last especially long but Jo Malone is the only perfume I can wear without sneezing

Phase2 · 31/10/2024 23:09

No, they don't last. I love them but I've switched to Penhaligon and Santa Maria Novella

Calliopespa · 31/10/2024 23:14

I find the body and hand creams actually last longer in terms of scent and I think they do that one.

Soontobe60 · 31/10/2024 23:21

I’d second the Aldi dupes. I bought the pomegranate one the other day - cheap as chips, smells lovely!

wizzler · 31/10/2024 23:30

Used to wear Jo Malone but found any new scents after she sold to Estee Laude very disappointing. She is now back in the perfume business selling Jo Loves. I wear Pomelo most days and love it

StickyStones · 31/10/2024 23:37

Not worth it. They're colognes which means weaker than eau de toillette and significantly weaker than eau de parfum. Their last power is pathetic.

Bigearringsbigsmile · 31/10/2024 23:39

The smell of jo malone stuff is headache inducing! I can't abide it.

mewkins · 31/10/2024 23:45

Try eden perfumes for vegan alternatives to jo malone and hundreds of others. All the ones I've tried last really well.

crowgift · 31/10/2024 23:52

oh I used to love wood sage and sea salt - has it changed/become weaker?

Mxflamingnoravera · 31/10/2024 23:57

Nope it's all brand and no substance in my opinion. I have a few bottles which at the time seemed lovely and exotic (I'm talking years ago) but now are still there unused and a bit sad in my (not large) scent collection.

I do like scents based on pure bases (eg sandalwood, rose, oud) but I find the JM stuff overpriced for the quality and just a bit meh. I wish I could be more specific, but that's the only way I can describe them. I'm working my through a bottle I'm not keen on but hate waste, so I'm wearing it for work and it fades very fast, there seem to be no backnotes to the fragrances, gone in a flash. Unlike some of my other fave scents which seem to last and last (eg Tom Ford or Le Labo)

TwoeightTwoeightTwoOhhhh · 01/11/2024 00:03

And it’s not cruelty free. When she sold out she let her name be used on an inferior product that has no morals.
Jo loves claims to be cruelty free but does sell in China so I assume that only matters unless she gets a pay out

Beesandhoney123 · 01/11/2024 00:07

Went downhill after it was sold. Such a pity. Didn't know about Jo loves! Thx all who mentioned it!
