Why is it accepted that men will pee on the seat/floor?

Why is this a thing, like “oh, he’s a man, that’s what they do”?

Heard it lots of times from friends and colleagues and have seen similar posts on here. Why is it treated like an unavoidable event that a grown man (or anyone over the young child age)
finds it ok to leave body fluids on or around the toilet?

🤮

Seriously though, little boys are still taught to stand and pee.

If you are teaching any, the correct method is stand and pee and CLEAN. Either lift the seat or clean under it. I don't actually care if you do handstands over the loo to pee, as long as you clean the area. If you can't clean because your knob would fall off; sit.

having spent time in Asia, the usual practice in our house that i brought back from there is to give the look a quick clean after every use. It's fabulous.

My DH doesn't piss all over the toilet seat and floor FGS! And no he doesn't piss in the sink, as one poster suggested! 🙄 I know some men do it though. I would not tolerate it, and couldn't be with a man who pisses all over the toilet seat and floor. How fucking infantile! I bet the 'men' who do this never clean it/wipe it up either.

On what planet is it accepted @Kibble29 - men pissing over the toilet seat and floor? Glad I don't live in your house!

A question for those mums who toilet-trained their sons. Did you teach them to pull their foreskins back when peeing?

I bet the men with foreskins don't bother 'pulling it back' to piss. I bet the majority of mums of boys never told them to either - or showed them how! Also what about the dads? They can actually get involved in parenting too. It's not just a mum's job!

I am glad to have a husband who is circumcised. He chose to do it HIMSELF - for his own personal reasons - when he was 21 by the way, before anyone comes out with the 'why would anyone butcher their child' line! 🙄

Have to say I prefer a circumcised man too, (and he had it done 2-3 years before we met! So I didn't push him into doing it!)

Also, no way in hell is any public womens toilet as bad as the mens.

It’s not accepted in my house - where did you garner that idea from? I specifically mention others accepting it. Not me.

If I had ever asked my FIL to clean up after himself, he would have been incredibly offended and so would MIL on his behalf. Mentioning it would have been seen as far worse than making the mess in the first place.

and? in my FIL had pissed all over my bathroom he would have been told to clean it up, and never invited back,

Or warm urine.

For some reason I feel the cold urine is worse. But I can see why warm would also be particularly horrendous. 😣

This!

I’d probably hope that he was offended enough to never return. Doing it in your own house is bad enough, but to do it in someone else’s…

It's definitely not all men. I was with a friend yesterday who was complaining about the men's loos in the pub we were in. (The women's weren't grwat either, but i suspect still a lot better than the men's.)

Being drunk, he also added a comment about the risk of balls dangling too low in some poorly designed/unclean loos when sitting.

Then I’d be expecting my DH to do it. He’s their flesh and blood. I would NOT be cleaning up urine from a grown man who visited my house. The sheer bloody cheek of it. Fuckers.

mmmmbloodygorgeous · 27/10/2024 21:31

Who accepts this?

I've never been with a man who did this, and I've been with some fucking scumbag men.

A grown ass man doesn't need to sit down to be able to pee in the toilet without causing a mess.

Agreed. My DH is apoplectic at blokes who mess up toilets. He and my son have always been clean and they leave the seat exactly where it’s meant to be. Down.

I hate to break it to you ladies, but if the males in your house don't get urine on the floor then they're probably pissing in the sink 😂

I don't think my three year old could reach to pee in the sink 🤔😂 He has perfect toilet aim.

Husband sits down to pee.

buffyspikefaith · 27/10/2024 22:14

I don't get why it smells so strong too. Are they not drinking water?
We had portaloos at work for a while and even if they were cleaned, the minute 1 or 2 men had been in, they stunk

You actually believe this?

mondaytosunday · 27/10/2024 22:27

Well I've never heard that! Most people think it's gross - including my son whose first job at 16 was kitchen and toilet cleaning at a café. Anyone over the age of six who can't get it in the bowl should clean it up themselves.

Printedword · 27/10/2024 22:55

I’ve literally never encountered a man who does this.

That poster definitely mixes with a different class of 'man' to me! 😱

sanityisamyth · 28/10/2024 06:22

A urinal is designed to be used standing up. A loo is designed to be used sitting down. It literally has a seat!! How can men not understand this? DS has been taught to use a loo sitting down and doesn't make a mess, and never has.

This is exactly what my sister & I used to say to our brother.
"It's a seat, not a backrest"!

SonicBoomInTheRoom · 28/10/2024 14:31

Seriously...

Why is it accepted that men will pee on the seat/floor?
