Is anyone awake and can humour through the night?

Currently away on holiday. 2am here. Amazing place to stay for a much needed break. Rubbish year with two bereavements, amongst plethora of stresses that would make your average soap opera appear tame… Anyway, I digress…
Suddenly became very ill with D&V six hours ago. Cannot keep anything down but am very thirsty so trying to sip water. I am DESPERATE for a pint of iced water to glug, but I know that would come back up.
Although things have slowed down a bit, can’t sleep, keep having to run to the loo and tummy is so painful.
Despite having a primary school age child, don’t think I’ve had a bug like this for about 7 years. Out of practice and it’s absolutely minging.
Anyone got any top tips or can share something to distract myself with?
Stuck in a hotel with my husband and child with WiFi that doesn’t seem to let you stream iPlayer etc.
It’ll seem better in the morning, right?

Lovely cat.

Cats are considered clean in Islam. The prophet Mohammed once cut his sleeve off because a cat was asleep on it and he did not want to disturb it but it was time to pray.

How did I not know this in all my years of cat ownership? This holiday has not turned out as planned but at least there have been lots of lovely cats. Here’s another one for cat fans.

That's a cute potato 😻😻

Is husband well enough to go get you some supplies? So glad things have eased a little. 🤞.

Lovely cat! Very comforting in the middle of the night. Husband is alive and moving slowly. As is child. What a shambles 😂 - always my worst fear to all be too ill to enjoy a special holiday, but I’m sure we’ll look back with fondness and laughter. Might have to plan a mini break over the Christmas holidays to have something to look forward to!

Hope you feel better soon OP! X

See you might be ill, on holiday which is crap, but you are getting a kitty education.

Jollyjoy · 25/10/2024 08:49

Glad it’s easing and mainly now that it’s daylight for you, makes it easier! Hope you manage to enjoy bits of the last day despite this unwanted twist.

Husband has raided the pharmacy, I’m crashed out by a quiet pool and trying to get some rest. Think I managed a couple of 30 naps last night. Slightly worried about making it home in one piece tomorrow…. But in 24hrs I might feel like a new woman?!!

Crashing by a pool sounds like a fine way to spend the day.

Did you get home ok

Goodnessgraciousfrog · 28/10/2024 12:19

Thanks for checking in @TruthThatsHardAsSteel - yes, we managed the journey safely home! Got back about 3am on Sunday. Wasn’t the easiest but could have been a lot worse. My DS was a super star. Very grateful to be past the toddler stage.
Thought we were on the turn but husband and son randomly started throwing up over night. Plus husband and I have a chest infection. Not testing positive for COVID so somewhat mystified and frustrated. All much easier to manage at home even if we should be at work.

Thank you lovely mumsnutters for keeping me sane through that grim, sleepless night. And for my enhanced cat knowledge!

Oh no that's bloody awful. Wishing a speedy recovery for all round. Glad you're at least home with your own comforts
